Belize & Beyond Mission Update: March 2010
National Religious Broadcasters Convention 2010, Nashville, Tennessee:
The NRB convention proved to be a highlight for me once again! The teaching, encouragement, challenges and exhortation from pastors and speakers refreshed me greatly. This is always a good time to reconnect, fellowship, and networking, glean and gain great insights from Christian broadcasters who have expertise in various areas. I was privileged to participate in the International Advisory Counsel as we discussed better ways for the Association to provide for those coming from various countries to the convention. It was a thrill for me to see the great interest that NRB has in encouraging and supporting International media. Along with Lighthouse Christian Radio, Isaac Dueck and Jacob Penner from the newly licensed Horizon Radio was also there to represent Belize. This was a fact finding time for them as well as meeting with Galcom International and others who are assisting in getting Horizon Radio Station up and running in the very near future.

Several highlights, one being Dr. Frank Wright, President & CEO of NRB challenging broadcasters to take full advantage of this critical time we are in to get the gospel out. He shared how many of our treasured freedoms of are being infringed upon how we should not ‘handcuff’ ourselves when given opportunities to share the gospel. He gave several examples of some who are doing just that and it is startling to hear of the compromising that is taking place in proclaiming the truth of the Gospel through media. God help us as broadcasters and communicators of the gospel to faithfully represent Jesus Christ in such a time as this. Please pray that we would uncompromisingly and faithfully proclaim the truth; the whole truth and nothing but the truth on Lighthouse Christian Radio to our listeners and in our daily lives!

Lighthouse Christian Radio, San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye:
With each volunteer and missionary the Lord has sent our way to serve at Lighthouse over the years, we have been blessed to see great improvement with our daily operation through the variety of gifts and talents. Johnny Wall, the volunteer/missionary from Nova Scotia, Canada who is still with us, has worked feverishly on implementing new software that has greatly upgraded our broadcasting. We are very grateful to the Lord for sending Johnny and others to further the broadcast ministry here in Belize. Johnny’s year of service is quickly coming to a close and the need is once again before us to fill his position. Along with him, Nelson, the part time staff member, will be leaving us in a week as his family will be moving to Honduras. Please pray for Nelson and his family as they make this major move and begin a new season as a family. Also, pray for Nelson as he desires to continue in some aspect of media in Honduras!
Servants needed: Are you, your church or anyone you know looking for an opportunity to serve the Lord on the mission field in Belize? There is an opportunity to do just that at Lighthouse Christian Radio Ministry for anyone who is available to the Lord with a servant’s heart, teachable, loves people, team minded, computer skills; announcing and broadcasting skills welcome greatly but not mandatory; willingness to learn and be apart of our ministry expansion: discipleship, community involvement and reaching others for Christ. If you are interested or know someone who might be, please pray about this and contact me for further details and information! (Johnny Wall sharing about the new broadcast software he recently installed)
Horizon Radio, Spanish Lookout, Cayo District:
Many of the brothers at Amazing Grace Christian Fellowship participated in the preparation and erection of 180 foot broadcast tower which took place a week ago. Isaac Dueck, director of Horizon Radio is in the process of making plans with Galcom International who will be assisting us with this project. The next phase will be the construction of an office and studio, acquiring antennas, studio equipment and the various necessities for operation. Please pray for financial provisions and for wisdom and direction for Isaac and the others involved in this endeavor! Los Tambos Village, Cayo District:
Erick & Magdalena, the missionaries from Calvary Chapel El Salvador have started a weekly Bible Study in Los Tambos Village, a Spanish speaking Village located next to Spanish Lookout, on Wednesday evenings as well as youth ministry and children ministry on various days during the week. It has been a great thrill watching Erick over the past 4 months as they took the time to develop relationships while settling into their new home and ministry. They were able to take a few days break recently and came to San Pedro Town for a visit to Lighthouse Christian Radio and stayed in the Guest Apartment. Please continue to pray for them as they follow the Lord’s lead in planting a church in Los Tambos Village! Edler Blas, El Salvador:
I’ve been receiving good reports regarding Edler as he has completed a full month at the Bible School at the Calvary Chapel El Salvador! He shared on a recent phone call that he is learning so much and enjoying his time both at the school and assisting in the Radio Ministry at the church. He was trained and now operating the AM Radio Station at the church and will be relieving the announcers for their vacation. He desires to travel to Nicaragua to visit family during his 2 weeks break coming up in May. Please continue to pray for Edler as he prepares for a lifetime of ministry. Also, please contact me if you would like to be apart his preparation through encouragement and financial support!
