Greetings to all our family and friends!
We wish to thank one and all for your warm welcome, encouragement, and many ways
you abundantly provided for us during our furlough in America. We were so blessed by the
opportunity to visit several churches and share about the work God is doing through our
youth ministry in Hungary and Slovakia. We wish to thank our sending church, Calvary
Chapel of Fredericksburg, as well as Calvary Chapel of Louisa, Calvary Chapel of
Manassas, Calvary Fellowship of Warrenton, and Good Hope Tabernacle in Buckhannon,
West Virginia, for the wonderful reception they each gave us, in addition to some
unexpected blessings. This was a precious time of reconnecting with old friends and also
making new ones! During our church visits, we were able to sell all of the hand-made
Hungarian necklaces and pottery which will fund the rental of a gymnasium for our Kids
Club Ministry through the winter months!
During our stay in Virginia, it gave us great joy to serve with the Fellowship of
Christian Athletes (FCA) during their Power Camp week. While Michael participated as a
camper in basketball, Sam, Michelle, and Megan served the staff and campers by running
errands for them, keeping their water jugs filled, mowing grass, and offering
encouragement to all. Our Hungary and Slovakia youth ministry was sponsored as a
service project by the campers. They collected loose change each day to help off-set the
cost of building a half-sized basketball court near our current youth building. We were
overwhelmed with gratitude when by week’s end, the campers had collected more than
double the goal amount! On the final day of Power Camp, many of the youth responded to
the invitation to receive Christ. Michelle and Megan prayed with these young people and
then encouraged them to get plugged into their church’s youth groups.
During our visit to West Virginia, we were blessed to participate with Good Hope
Tabernacle’s Vacation Bible School (VBS). Megan and Michael enjoyed learning that they
can “Experience, and Discover God Everywhere”. They enjoyed making new friends while
doing fun crafts and experiencing wonderful Bible lesson dramatizations.
During our last week in America, Megan and Michael participated with the Calvary
Chapel of Fredericksburg youth in their annual summer camp held at Youth Development,
Inc. (YDI) in Headwaters, Virginia. Each day’s Bible study unlocked one of the “I AM”
statements of Jesus found in the Gospel of John, which furthered their understanding of the
mighty God that we serve! During the first day of camp, Megan celebrated her 14th
birthday, and being with so many of her friends made the day a celebration to remember!
Following the Sunday morning worship services back at Calvary Chapel of
Fredericksburg, our furlough concluded with a potluck, where we celebrated Michael’s
11th birthday and got to visit with our friends and family one last time.
We are extremely grateful for your covering prayers over us and the many miles we
traveled to visit with family and friends. We did not encounter any difficulties on the road.
We were also encouraged to learn upon returning to Hungary, that many of the youth who
had participated in previous Summer outreaches had been faithfully attending Sunday
school while we were gone! Praise God for opening the doors for us here in Hungary and
Slovakia. Pray that we stay focused on sharing the gospel with all the precious youth that
God has placed in our path.
In His Service,
