  1. The McCartney Family Spring 2009

    April 25, 2009 by Administrator

Greetings to all our friends and family,
Winter has faded and the beauty of spring is upon us. Fields are once again covered with yellow flowers and new life is blooming far and wide.
Thank you all for your continued prayers and support. We finished the winter season with a sleigh riding party after the Lord provided over a foot of snow! Twenty-nine youth came out for a fun day up on the hill, then back to our house for a Bible study and indoor games.
We have done nothing special to draw the youth. God keeps bringing them into our lives in His perfect ways and timing. It’s a tremendous blessing to see God’s hand at work and be His witnesses before these youth.
The Thursday before Easter, we presented a Passover Seder dinner to CC Esztergom. Many people who do not usually attend church came to participate in this unique experience. It brought to life what Jesus did for us as He shared the last meal with His disciples before going to the cross.
Every semester the Bible college in Vajta, Hungary sends students on a 10-day outreach. We hosted six students in our home who helped with our youth ministry in Esztergom. During their visit, a neighbor invited us to come into her home for the first time, affording us an opportunity to share with her. Michelle and some of the students were able to go into the public school and help teach English, as well as share about Jesus. Michelle was given a great witnessing opportunity for our unsaved language teacher. The youth outreach wrapped up in town with a version of the Amazing Race, followed by a worship concert. The youth were given clues hidden in Bible verses. When they figured out where to go, they had to complete a task. Everyone’s favorite event was feeding each other ice cream while blind- folded. The kids realized that they can love Jesus and have a lot of fun.
Please pray: for the Friday and Saturday youth groups to continue being a blessed time of fellowship and games; for safety on the roads as the kids come from different parts of Esztergom and Sturovo, Slovakia; many of the kids know about Jesus but do not have a Christian family to keep them encouraged. Pray that the enemy will not distract these kids away from the Gospel. So many kids and families here are blinded by the things of the world. They need the love of Jesus to shine brightly into their lives.
Again, thank you for all your prayers. We look forward to seeing many of you in person very soon, God willing. Stay faithful, stay steadfast and committed to Him.    In His Service,
    The McCartney
