We have been living in Hungary for five months, and
we thank each of you for sharing in this Mission with
us. Since arriving, we have encountered many hurdles,
triumphs, and tearful moments that the Lord has turned
    into smiles. Each day we depend totally on the Lord;
our faith is strengthened, our armor renewed, and His
    grace covers us.
We are adjusting to city life in Esztergom. Surrounded
by mountain ranges, we usually have to climb up
a mountain any place we go. This reminds us of
Philippians 3:12, “… Press on to take hold of that for which
Christ Jesus took hold of me.” The Lord’s mission for us
has only begun. We have just started what He planted
in our families’ heart: bringing the Gospel of Jesus to a
dying and thirsty community—a community that was
struck with communism and hardness. If we’re not
careful, we too, can get caught up in this hardness.
Our race is to serve the Lord with all our hearts, might,
and strength. We have to cycle up a mountain to get
where God has placed His mission for us. God has called
you, too! What mountains do you have to climb in order
to serve our Lord? Climbing this mountain reminds us
that life can be hard. Michelle’s Grandmother, Sophie,
who recently passed away, gave her a poem many years
Dear Friends, ago, and it’s been an encouragement to us. It’s entitled,
    Don’t Quit:
“When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
when life seems hard and all up hill,
press on if you must, but don’t you quit!”
When we first climbed the mountain, we thought we
were going to die! With humor and strength, each
time we climb the mountain, it gets easier and more
rewarding. God is showing us the accomplishment—
not in climbing the mountain, but in what He is doing
in and through us! Oh, when we reach the top of the
mountain now, it is such a joy. We are dripping with
sweat, but this sweat is nothing compared to the sweat
our Lord Jesus poured out for us.
In life we have a choice, we can complain as the
Israelites did to Moses in the desert, or we can press
on toward the Goal in Christ Jesus – being thankful we
are chosen to share His gospel! With winter on its way,
we are preparing for the cold months ahead. We will
be eager for spring to return, but we know that much
planting will be done during the winter. Pray with us
as we wait to see a harvest of beautiful flowers coming
to know our loving and compassionate Savior. Press
    upward and don’t quit!
    Much love and thanks,
    The McCartneys
