Monsoon has been very destructive in the mountains of Garhwal. It caused frequent land slides and cut off many parts of the mountains from the rest of the country. We heard about volcanic eruptions, but had never heard about water and mud eruptions. It happened in one of the villages in Deolsari last month that killed five people of a family. One night before going to bed the family members of this family were sitting at veranda and suddenly water and mud erupted from the earth beneath the house and five members of the family were buried in the mud immediately and died. The whole house collapsed and went down the mountain about 25 meters. One woman has injured as she was bit away from other members and only her legs got buried. She is still in hospital in Dehradun and she can not walk.
In this heavy rain our Lord has protected our believers in Deolsari. They are growing in their faith and the knowledge of the Lord. They have been sharing about their faith to their friends and relatives. Rakesh’s sister-in-law, who is married to his brother in May 2011, is likely to accept the Lord soon. She attends Sunday Service and other prayer meetings that Rakesh conduct. Rakesh’s friends, Mahesh and Subhash, are also interested to know more about Jesus. We trust the Lord and believe that soon many new believers would join our Deolsari Fellowship.
Vinita and I went to Chhattisgarh last month for Vinita’s surgery. Vinita’s left submandibular gland had some problem. When she would eat this gland would get swollen as the saliva could not secrete due to being blocked. We saw so many doctors and Vinita went through so many tests. Finally the doctors said that surgery is the only treatment for the problem. On the 12 August she admitted in the hospital and 1:30 the surgery started. It was one hour surgery and the gland was removed. We praise the Lord for the successful surgery. We want to thank each one of you prayed for her. Vinita was encouraged by knowing that many people were praying for her. One day Puja called Vinita on phone and said, “Aunty we should help each other as the believers in the early church did. We can help by praying for each other. Sheelam, Meena, Reena and I prayed for you.” How sweet! These new believers know that they can help others by their prayers. We are so blessed that the Lord has given us these believers.
Prayer points: We need your prayer for Vinita’s complete recovery. She is still weak if she walks for 15-20 minutes her legs hurt.
Reuben and Aroma are going to take their first term exams from 12 September to 22 September. Please pray for them.
Pray that the rain may stop and we would be able to go the villages.
Pray for Rakesh that the Lord may give him wisdom and empower him with the Holy Spirit as he leads Deolsari Fellowship.
Pray for Rakesh’s sister-in-law, Mahesh and Subhash that the Holy Spirit may help them to receive the Lord in their hearts.
