Summer is in full swing at Calvary Chapel Pedregales, and the months prior have been very busy here in the Children’s Ministry, and in the church as well.
Since Easter, (my last update), there has been events it seems like every month! We started with “Kid’s Day” on Apr. 30. This is a huge celebration for the children here in Tijuana. It’s similar to Mother’s and Father’s Day in the U.S., but Kid’s Day, (Dia del Nino), is a real big deal here! Well, the kids from CC Pedregales, together with the kids from CC Tijuana, jumped on the bus–(yes, we were able to rent two buses)!!, and headed out for a beautiful park here in Tijuana. It was a cowboy theme, and everyone had a great time!! The kids all wore different colored bandannas (according to the group they were in), and there were relay races, pinatas, cupcakes, prizes for the games, hot dogs, nachos, watermelon, a great drama, worship, all kinds of stuff! Some friends from CC Saving Grace joined us for this very special day. It was so nice for all who were able to go, and for some, it was their very first time at this park!
A huge THANK YOU to all those who gave financially to make this event happen! Over $300 was raised which made it possible to take the kids to the park!
Next came Mother’s Day. We love our moms so much and the kids expressed their love by giving the moms a very special dessert tea. The Jr. High class served them, and it was fabulous! The kids sang to their moms and played games. It was very touching and special for them. The only thing missing was my mom!!
In May, we had a special event at CC Tijuana, our “Mission’s Expo.” Each one of our missionaries were presented to the congregation with the purpose of raising support teams for them in the areas of: moral, logistics, financial, prayer, communication, and re-entry support as is outlined in the book “Serving as Senders”, by Neal Pirolo. I was proud to represent our brother Pastor Alfonso and his wife, Adela from CC Guadalajara. We have missionaries in Chiapas, San Felipe, Guadalajara, and Tijuana.
We cannot forget Father’s Day! We had our annual Pancake Breakfast for just the dad’s and their kids. They had fun decorating their pancakes to look like their dad’s faces. We also presented a very special slide show for the dads. A good friend, Pastor Gary Kusonaki and a team from CC San Juan Capistrano shared this special day with us.
The dad pictured above is not a believer, but it is events like the Father’s Day breakfast that brings him to church. The Word of God is sown, and the rest is up to the Lord! We are praying for his salvation.
And finally, in June we had our annual “Fiesta de Libertad” (Festival of Liberty) Crusade on the streets in downtown Tijuana. Many churches stateside joined forces with us to make this event happen. It was an awesome, well organized day. I believe there were app. 3,000 hot dogs cooked and served! The gospel message went out to many that day, and about 40 decisions were made for Christ!! Praise God!!! Plans are underway as I write this for a Fiesta Crusade in San Felipe this October! All are invited to come.
“I long for Your salvation, O Lord, and Your law is my delight. Let my soul live, and it shall praise you.”
Psalm 119:174-175
The Lord bless you all and thanks for keeping in touch, for reading this update, and for your prayers!
