Back to School Blessings

The month of September sent students back to school in the states and it was no different for us in South Asia. Calvary Chapel Bible College South Asia campus is open, launched a new semester, and the staff welcomed new students from all over the country. We were also able to move into the newly built staff housing and begin using the classrooms, library and dining hall that were in the process of reconstruction throughout this past year.  What was once only a dream has become a reality!

BLESSED BY YOU

Thank you to the prayer groups, churches, partners, donors, encouragers, office staff in the states, our family and to the family that has opened this place for us to use. God has used each one of you in our lives to see this campus opened and indeed blessings were abundant this September as school started.

And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:8

BLESSED BY STUDENTS

We want to introduce you to one of the students named Abishek. He was attending a church that is pastored by our dear brother and co-laborer John E. who studied with us in Nepal several years ago.     When John E. returned to his hometown in India, he began teaching a bible study verse by verse. The bible study has now turned into a church and Abishek has been a faithful servant working a job during the day and serving with John E. at the church during the evenings and weekends. When Abishek heard about the opportunity to study at CCBC South Asia, he gave notice to his job and arrived at the campus a few days later. Abishek would cover for John E. when he was traveling or sick, so it was a sacrifice to send his assistant. But, John E. knew it was a worthwhile investment as he desires to plant additional churches in surrounding cities and this is the first step in seeing the vision come to fruition.

BLESSED BY PROVISION

When Bond wasn’t teaching in the month of September, we were shopping. Yes, we too went back to school shopping this month. We weren’t shopping for clothes or lunch boxes but for a sound system,

chairs, instruments, office furniture, library books, ministry vehicle and everything else you forget about like trash cans and copy paper. We see it as a tremendous privilege to stand in awe and watch as God provided so generously for each and every need for the ministry up until now. The way the Lord went before us in providing funds, purchasing, giving favor and meeting every need is something we never get use to and has been miraculous.

Shopping can be a wild adventure in South Asia filled with unexpected twists and turns. It was necessary to travel to a major city to purchase the vehicle and in the meantime the guys traveling together with Bond borrowed a car. On the way to the dealership in the borrowed car, the AC went out (it was over 100 degrees), next the windows malfunctioned and would not roll down and ultimately the car died all together. Bond had to get out and push the borrowed car to the side of the road on two separate occasions and they left the car to be repaired. Needless to say, when the purchase of the ministry vehicle was completed it was a needed and much welcomed blessing after a crazy ordeal.

BLESSED TO BE A BLESSING

There was major flooding that took place throughout the region in August that resulted in 500+ deaths and over 1 million people left evacuated. As flood waters resided, it gave opportunity for the students to be sent out to be a blessing. Just days after being purchased, the new ministry vehicle was loaded up with food, oil, soap and students who were sent out to several villages 5 hours away. Many in the areas reached had been struggling because they lost their jobs and livelihood due to the floods. The Gospel message was shared, supplies were given and many received prayer, a hug and someone to share their story with. They will know we are Christians by our love and indeed the students were more blessed than those they went to be a blessing too.

BLESSED BY BREANNA

Our baby Breanna became a big girl overnight (at least that is how it seems to us). She has grown tall, is having full blown conversations, loves playing outside and enjoys passing out her instruments (she has a bag full) to each student who comes over each week for worship and prayer nights at our home. We are continually blown away by her and blessed to be her parents!

With Love From South Asia,

Bond, Heather and Breanna Gaona
