March 2007 Update
The Lord truly is good!!! In this pass month we have been stretched and yet strengthened in many ways. We have been hard at work getting many of the administrational jobs passed off to others. Tam is in the process of teaching Chris Brown how to do the church finances. Also, a guy named Dave has taken over other things like bulletins, which is another task Tam used to do. This is a great benefit for her to be able to focus more at home and less on church jobs. Soon we will have up and running a new CCN website made by one of our students. It is such a blessing to see a lot of the structural things taking form. Jackie is also putting into force a Child Protection Policy for CCN’s “Kingdom Kids Church” which is slowly starting to grow (We had 10 kids last Sunday J). We are also in the process of setting up different Men’s and Women’s ministries, worship nights, and Social events.
This past month we have just had our first ever CCN retreat. As many of you know a lot of our youth got baptized last month, and to take it a step further they attended the retreat. Everyone had such a great time. We went to a place called “The Blaith Waite House”. It was like we were on a scene from “Pride and Prejudice”. It was so beautiful!!! We are so blessed to live in such a picturesque country. It was a Christian conference center that had stone walls, with wooden beams, and bible verses carved into wood hanging everywhere. It was so amazing; the scene was set for a weekend focused on Jesus! There were places by a little lake to sit and just enjoy God. I know we’ve made you jealous (So Sorry, haha)
Anyways, one of the guys named Steve who got saved a few months back actually took the week to walk to the retreat center to prepare his heart for the weekend (a kid called Pozty went with him). They got there a few days early and the center put them to work. They loved it!!! When we arrived Pozty embraced us with hugs, and tears! To think just a week ago, Pozty was on the green surrounded with a life style of Drugs, Hatred, and people just living for sin. Now at a retreat center, surrounded by beauty, his Christian family, love, and most of all GOD!!! It was touching for Tam. Pozty found a bracelet on the road and said it was for her, she now wears it to remind her to pray for him. Steve said, “Words could not even begin to say or express just what God did in my heart on the retreat.” Another one of the guys Peter said to Drew during worship “I cannot believe how much my life has changed over this retreat” He is now thinking about going to Bible College. These youth have been touched by God! Over all we had about 15 people sponsored out of the 75 who came on the retreat. Thank you so much (you know who you are) for making this possible, lives were changed by the love of God and not one missed out because of funds!!!
There was such a wide range of people from our body that attended the retreat. Two of our older couples attended Pam and Hugh Twiss (a blind couple) and Chris and Jeannie Hiles, our students, our youth and us families, talk about variety. We saw the Lord knit the body despite of age, back ground, or up bringing. The body was just that, a body. This past Sunday we had service as normal, but there was such a different feel, something that words can’t explain. You just knew that God was there and doing an unspoken work in our midst. He was and is making us a tighter community, a family! The Lord truly does answer prayer.
Tam has been blessed with a new friend called Hannah. I think most of us know Tams heart for worship. For a long time Tam has prayed that the Lord would raise up another girl in our body who share’s this same heart. Hannah has been such an added blessing to our worship teams. For a long time we have lacked in this area, but we have seen the Lord raise us many and I mean many in our body who are extremely gifted and anointed by the Lord to lead our body in some really neat times of worship.
Our home groups and youth night are both doing great and we are seeing such fruit. There is so much going on… Please keep in prayer the planning of an Easter Community outreach that Jackie and some others in the body are putting together, also for this summer Illum-A-Nation Festival.
For us as a family we are still eagerly waiting for the sale of our house… We really need wisdom for this. Caleb and Joy have started a new curriculum on-line. For so long Tam has struggled with the kids being bored during school. We no longer have this problem. The first thing they do when they wake up is run to turn on the computer to do school (even on weekends). Tam and Brooke have been taking the kids swimming every Thursday and they love it. We are also in the process of looking into tickets for us to come back to the states for four weeks in the summer. Tam’s best friend Sarah will be joining us on this trip, so many of you will get to meet her (She is Irish J). Drew is feeling a bit of the weight being lifted. With many in our body stepping up, Drew has been able to spend more time focusing on people (pastoring) instead of management details.
Thank you all so much for all of your love, prayers, and support! Our heart is deeply grateful! You all are such a blessing. We look forward to seeing you this summer!!!
Serving Him!
