A Big Christmas with a Big Family

Eating Together During the Christmas Program

“Ho! Everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; And you who have no money, Come, buy and eat. Yes, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.” (Isaiah 55:1)

It is always great to invite people for different programs, especially for our annual Christmas program. More than that, we love to see the people actually come and attend the program! We always say that it is not us, but God who has brought them–like in the days of Noah when God brought all of the male and female animals inside the Ark. We know that we are not worthy for their presence, but God loves His people and wants to save them, so He leads them to come.

Family One:

Almost 60 People Joined Us All Day for the Christmas Program!

This past Christmas, we had so many friends and people from our neighborhood attend our Christmas outreach. There were almost 60 people who joined with us all day, beginning in the early morning.  One of these people was our closest neighbor, and we began a friendship with them. We took every opportunity to share the Gospel in front of all of the people who came. Our Sunday School children and youth group performed a Christmas dance.  It is always a joy when we see some of our young guys and girls participate in this kind of program, and they ask us a lot of questions about Jesus and learn more about Him.  Please keep praying for the people of our country, and that they will encounter Christ in their life.

Family Two:

Sharing God’s Word

“But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind. And you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you; for you shall be repaid at the resurrection of the just.”(Luke 14:13-14)

We see that it is always our job to reach people, just as Jesus reached out to His people when He was in this world.  We know that it is hard for the people to come to Christ both physically and spiritually.  Here in our country, the group of people who has leprosy faces the same problem because most of them have a hard time even walking to Church.  Some can’t walk at all, and the only way they can hear the Word of God is if someone goes to their house to teach them.

So, God spoke to our heart to reach these people.  It is a great joy to serve those who love to hear the Word of God, sing hymns with them (though some cannot speak well), and clap their hands (though they don’t have fingers).  We are so grateful to get the opportunity to be their mouth and hands for them.  They are so thankful for the solar water heaters that we installed.  All of the medical camps we did became a stepping-stone to take the Gospel to them.  They are starting to know that even though people reject them, they are not rejected by God.  They are starting to have a big hope in Christ.  Please pray for this group of people, that God may grow them in truth and in Spirit.

Family Three:

Spending Time Visiting the Homes of the Bible College Students

“And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life.”(Matthew 19:29)

We give thanks to God, for He has granted us so many brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers, etc. all around the world.  We are not worthy, but God has graciously given us many people to serve the Lord together with, as we encourage one another.  We call all these people who are alongside us our family. They are those who rejoice with us and mourn with us.

Spending Time with the Bible College Students

In this last couple of months we visited our Bible College students homes and families to build relationships. We had a great time with them, some of the places we were only able to spend a few hours at, but it was very precious. We said good-bye, but hopefully we can see their families again soon. These visits encouraged us to see where our students’ hearts are and the areas they want to serve the Lord at after graduation. We appreciate our students. They have a heart for their people and their home areas where there are no formal ministries or churches. We thank God because He cares for the sons and daughters in these remote areas of the country.  We started to more deeply respect God’s calling for these young people. As we visited 10 of the student’s homes, we started to see all of these students as a David, Peter, Esther, Ruth, Timothy, Silas, Lydia, etc.  Please pray for all of our students, that God may strengthen them more and more in the coming days by His Word.

Old, Young, and Kids; All Ages Need Jesus!

So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.” (Acts 16:31)

Praying with a New Believer

We are seeing people being saved through the power of the Holy Spirit! Their entire households are getting saved! One family, who was Buddhist, came to Christ last year. God has blessed their life abundantly and they are sharing their faith with their family and neighborhood. A month after they accepted Christ, there was a Big Buddhist Festival. The family decided to go shepherd their cattle instead of facing the pressure to worship a false god and do Buddhist rituals. I was amazed how they reacted to such a big challenge in their life! Please keep praying for this family to be so strong in their faith and in God’s Word.

Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying: “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I set you apart; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” Then said I: “Ah, Lord God! Behold, I cannot speak, for I am a youth.” But the Lord said to me: “Do not say, ‘I am a youth,’ For you shall go to all to whom I send you, And whatever I command you, you shall speak. Do not be afraid of their faces, For I am with you to deliver you,” says the Lord. (Jeremiah 1:4-8)

The Students with a Hiking Group

These young men (our students) are sold out for Jesus. They want to learn the Word of God, preach the Word of God, and teach the Word of God. These guys have left their home towns–their family, friends, property and riches of the world. They have come to learn the Word of God and to be approved to teach the Word. All these guys walk along side each other, pray together, learn together, worship together, fight for truth together, play together, laugh together, cry together and sing together.Recently these guys went  for a hike on a tall mountain, where they prayed for the city.  Five million people live in this city. We spent time worshiping God and thanking Him for what He is doing in this city. They were asking God to make them Salt and Light to their community.

“Can a woman forget her nursing child, And not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget,  Yet I will not forget you. See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; Your walls are continually before Me. (Isaiah 49:15-16)

Spending Time With the Children

In the city, there are a lot of children who are raised by a single mom. These children are raised without a father and we are helping them. These kids go to government school. In government schools, teachers never care for the children. I often see these kids walking around wearing their school uniforms during school time, and they are on the streets at night. We became friends with some of these children because we see each other a lot. We love to have tea and biscuits with them and share the story of Jesus with them. When we started to talk about their fathers they said, “we hate the word father”. They have never experienced the love of a father. But we believe that the Holy Spirit will teach them about our good good Father, when we tell them about God. We are telling them of a perfect dad, our heavenly Father, who never leaves us and never forsakes us.

Thank you,

Anand, Usha, Asher & Amos

Big City, Small Kids, Big Hope

“Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble.” James 1:27a

Gospel Outreach with Slum Children

This was a month where we had a great opportunity to serve children in a slum area of the capital.  These are the children who live in a big city but in small homes, big people with a small life-style, big city but less opportunity.  This city has many high quality schools, but the children from the slums attend very poor quality schools.  This city has schools that teach people who come from all over the country, but they neglect these children right here.  More than that, these children need Jesus who can transform their lives.  Our aim is not to change their life-style, which is secondary, but we want to give them Jesus, which is primary. We thank the Lord for the visiting team who went with us to minister to all of these children.  Every time we come here, they are so friendly to us and want to be a part of our lives and want to know us. We praise God that He allows us to serve these young lives!

Local Children We Work With

“But Jesus called them to Him and said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God.” Luke 18:16.

Once again, let me tell you about another group of kids who live near our community.  We’ve seen them many times walking in their friend groups throughout our neighborhood, speaking curse words, smoking cigarettes, wearing dirty clothes, skipping school, etc.

Playing Soccer With Local Kids We Are Sharing Christ With

Recently, we approached them to share the Gospel and invite them in church.  We’ve been helping them with their homework from school.  We have see hope in their life.  We also are helping them by giving some health kits, note books, toys, and snacks.  It has been a great opportunity to share the stories of Jesus with them, while showing them His love towards them.  These kids love to play football (soccer), love to play guitar, and so much more.  The more time that we have spent with them, we have recognized that these kids also come from poor families that are not able to support them to go to a good school or invest for their life.

Sowing Seed

“Those who sow in tears Shall reap in joy. He who continually goes forth weeping, Bearing seed for sowing, Shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, Bringing his sheaves with him.” (Psalms 126:5-6)

Visiting My Brother and His Church

It was a great time during the Bible College Semester break. I was able to visit my family who lives in the East. This is where I used to serve God alongside my elder brother for many, many years. This time, while I was there, I happened to see so many other believers that I had served with before and was able to fellowship with them. They allowed me to teach at the church as well as their youth group. My two kids, Asher and Amosh, also spent time with the other kids who attend the church.

“To open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.” (Acts 26:18)

Sharing Christ with Government Workers

I was introduced to two men who work for the government and happened to talk a lot with them about Christ. I didn’t plan to share the Gospel with them; but when I saw they were eager to know about Christ, Who is being made known all over the country, I shared with them. They asked me a bunch of questions about church and Christianity. When I started to talk with them and answered their questions about Jesus, I realized how much of a great need the Gospel is in the mist of people who only hear a little bit about Christ. When I talked about the Lord, they said, “We never knew of such a thing in our life.” We are praying that these guys will come to Christ soon, as they are near to the Kingdom of God.

Thank you for your prayers,

Anand, Usha, Asher & Amos

I was able to Teach the Church Youth Group.

Good Friday Becomes Best Friday

“Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge.  For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.” (Acts 4:19-20)

Listening to the news about persecution in the world and about our country’s new constitution made us think more about stepping out in our faith for the sake of the Gospel and knowing that the Word of God is above all. Psalm 119:89-90 says, “Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven. Your faithfulness endures to all generations; You established the earth, and it abides.” As the Word of God says, “His faithfulness endures to all generations,” so why shouldn’t we proclaim His good news during this Resurrection week and invite our community people/friends, etc.  All of the Bible College students were excited to sing worship songs, perform Gospel dances, and share testimonies. It was a great time to see so many people listening to the Good News.  It was a great time with all of our friends and family who attended our outreach program. We were able to tell them about Jesus and what love He demonstrated 2000 years ago for us. It was on Good Friday that we invited people to attend Calvary Chapel for the program that the Bible college students planned. We all said together, “It’s God who did it and brought people to whom we shared the Gospel.”  Please pray for those who heard the Good News on that day. Praise God!

Performing a Gospel Dance

Resurrection Sunday

Can we do it like Peter and John did in the “Book of Acts”?

We say that, “We have learned to leave our comfort zone for Christ.” We do it because Jesus left His throne to reach us and redeem us. Students were amazed at what they were able to do for Jesus during our outreach program. We believe that each student, though it will be hard, will be doing the same thing when they are in their home villages. We also gave out booklets of the Gospel of John and we have heard that people received Christ after reading the booklets! Please keep on praying for those who have yet to receive Christ, but have received a booklet and heard the Gospel at the program. Praise God!

We love to do what God asks us to do. There were 3 guys and 2 girls that we have been able to disciple for a long time now. These people are between the ages of 17-26 years old. Please continue praying for them as they are so eager to learn more from the Word of God and want to be used by God powerfully in the days to come. They have stepped out in faith by receiving Christ against their culture and against their family.  We Praise God that these people have been bold for Jesus even though their families are not Christian. Our Church rejoices because these young men and women want to give their life to Christ- forsaking all the things this world offers. We know that they are going to face a lot of challenges, so please pray that God may minister to each of them.

Thank you so much,

– Anand and Usha

One More Thing God Did

For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again. ( 2 Co 5:14-15)

Worth It

Visiting Pastor Raju

This past month, our Bible College staff all went to visit our recent graduate, Raju. He has started a Calvary Chapel Church. It was difficult for all of us to go to visit our brother Pastor Raju. We had to leave our kids behind in the city. We were also not used to hiking uphill at a high altitude. When we reached the top of the mountain where the village is, we saw a group of believers who hungered for the Word of God. We fellowshipped with them with great joy, and encouraged them to keep their faith in God and seek Him daily in His Word. The pain in our legs from hiking, and the altitude sickness were so worth it to be able to spend time with the church and encourage them in the faith.

The generous soul will be made rich, And he who waters will also be watered himself. (Proverb 11:25)

Pastors’ Conference

Pastors’ Conference

This month, we invited ten young national pastors (that we have been serving with) from all over the country to attend our Calvary Chapel Pastors’ Conference here. It was also a great time hosting our past graduates, who are now serving in ministry. We loved hearing from them the things that God is doing in their lives and ministry.

It was a joyful time to see the group of pastors being well fed with the Word of God and to know that they were each doing well. There was one pastor that visited from the east, who I taught Inductive Bible Study and the book of Genesis a couple of years ago. He was so encouraged to come and hear about what God is doing throughout the country.

“Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’ (Matthew 25:37-40)

Leper Colony

We shared the Gospel at the Leper Colony Together

We had a great time sharing the Gospel in the Leprosy Colony with our Bible College students. They were able to see people who are cast out from the community because of their illnesses. It was so awesome to tell the people there that even though their friends and family may have forgotten them, God will never forget them, because He is our Creator and He sent His only begotten Son Jesus Christ. We also got to see one of the older men again, Edda, who gave his life to Jesus Christ. We saw how God has given a great joy and peace in Edda’s heart. He is listening to his audio Bible everyday! Please pray for Edda’s family that they may come to Christ.

Thank you,

All Things New

“For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.” (Acts 20:27)

The first week of February was the start of classes at our Bible College.  The students learned Inductive Bible Study (IBS) which helps 1.) Them to learn how to study the Word and 2) To motivate them to teach their people through systematic Bible Study.  It was encouraging to see that the students were so excited to learn how IBS works.  We love to teach Inductive Bible Study because it explains how to teach the Bible instead of people’s personal opinions of what the Scriptures say.  Please pray for the students as they continue to study through the Bible.

“Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”(Roman 8:37-39)

This semester, God has brought many students who are from different tribal people groups from all over the county.  As they attend Calvary Chapel Pastors Training Center & School of Ministry, we can see how they will be able to spread the Word of God throughout our country. We know that it is because of the love that God has for this country that He has made this all possible.

“Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.”(Acts 2:47)

In our country, there are 300 people groups who have not heard the Gospel, but God has been bringing some of them to work in the city and many of them are coming to Christ.  A year ago, I started a Bible study in my living room where several of these people have been able to come and hear from the Word.  The Bible study has grown and has moved into the Bible College campus where we now meet in a classroom as Calvary Chapel.  Please keep the church members in prayer that they would grow in the Word and in their faith.

Thank you,

Anand, Usha, Asher & Amos

God is working in Our Country

And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!” Roman 10:15

How Will They Hear – Radio Ministry Taking Place

This past month, God granted me the opportunity to teach on the radio from the Gospel of Luke, which is broadcasting to 5 million people in the Valley as well as thousands more who listen on the internet. As you may know, there is a very small percentage of people in our country that are Christian. The majority of the population are Hindu and Buddhist and most have never heard the Word of God taught verse by verse. There are people listening from all levels of society, including those who are in jail. Please pray that as the teaching of the Word of God is broadcast, lives would be transformed and many would come to know Jesus personally.

Reaching Out to Lepers

Ministering at the Leper Colony

God is not done with the people who call the Leprosy Colony their home. When we shared the Gospel in the Leprosy Colony last month, a man named Edda gave his life to Jesus! It was evident that the Lord had been preparing his heart for a long time. Edda has a Christian neighbor who has shared with him many times. We know that some sow, some water and we got to see a harvest of souls. All glory goes to God for this new brother Edda.

Raising Up Pastors & Leaders

Graduates

We are so grateful for what God is doing here. We are investing our lives with many students who have become like family to us. We know it is because of the grace of God poured out on us.
It is so amazing that God has allowed me to serve in the Calvary Chapel Pastor Training Center and School of Ministry as a teacher and as a brother to the students and staff as well. Even more than that, I rejoice that God has brought students that we are watching grow in the Word of God, who all have hearts for lost souls. It is a great joy that two students (Majhiya and Raju) have graduated this week. We have seen these students grow. They are zealous for the Kingdom of God.
“And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.” 2 Timothy 2:2
