I Corinthians 9:24-27

” Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.”

As a soccer player of 19 years training became a part of life for me. I strive on challenges and overcoming obstacles. So why wouldn’t God give me a verse that would represent my life but also allow me to be able to relate to my athletic side. I have found so much comfort in the last 10 years of having this verse. To have purpose and when the round get’s tough to be able to reflect back on this verse in reflection and remember my life’s purpose. To run this temporal race and run it well so that on the day of judgement I may stand before The Father and hear ” well done good and faithful servant”.

Romans 5:3-4

“Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character,hope.”

God has called us to celebrate through our trials.When I found this verse years ago I made the conscious decision to no longer become a victim to my circumstances. I choose to find reason to celebrate in the transformation that is happening with my character to reflect the One who created me.
