EPHESIANS 4:11-13

“11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, 13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of theSon of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;”

Dear Family and Friends,

We hope and pray that this newsletter finds you well.

Dave had the privilege of ordaining another Kenyan national pastor at CC Nairobi this month, Pastor Nicholas Ahondo. Nicholas came to our church 4 years ago, he had previously been working with a Bishop who had much clout in the community. When church members would come before the Bishop or Nicholas they would bow down to them. The Bishop began fleecing the sheep and Nicholas wanted no part of that. SO he left the church and while he was coming before the Lord for direction for his life he heard a voice telling to go to Calvary Chapel Nairobi. SO he was faithful to come and be a member of our congregation and he joined and graduated from our bible college and was content serving as the door greeter. (initially Dave and Arie did not know Nicholas’ name so they would refer to him as “the guy who smiles”) . Nicholas always seemed to be at church serving. Last year he became the Children’s ministry leader and also took the role of the Bible College Assistant Director.

Dave also had the honor of officiating Nicholas’ wedding in 2010. God blessed his wife and him with a healthy baby girl, Shaleen, in November last year.

This brother meets the qualifications of a pastor 1 Timothy 3:1-7. He has that outward desire as he has already been doing the work of a pastor as well as that inward desire, he was longing for the position. He Has a wonderful personal, family, church witness as well as a good testimony to those that are outside. He is able to teach the Word of God. Dave ordained him during a Sunday service. Please pray that God would give Nicholas His strength and wisdom to be an assistant pastor at Calvary Chapel Nairobi.

Church building: Our previous management company was trying to get money from us that were not due to them, so we saw the Lord moving us on and put in our notice to quit. We have been looking for a new building for our church for over three months. What we have discovered is the cost per sq. ft. has risen to 5x the amount we pay now in our area. We found it very difficult to find something we could afford.

This month we received a letter saying that the old management company was let go. After receiving the letter I put in an offer and it was accepted. Praise the Lord!! We will stay where we are. After seeing all the other office spaces, God has given me new vision for our church building. To put up more partitions to have Sunday school Inside. And would like to build a foyer, Paint or tile the floor a different colors. We hope to advertise to get the word out that there is a Calvary Chapel in the area.

We are praying about spending some months in the States this year to raise financial support, if you would like Dave to share at your church or home fellowship or prayer group or Twinkle to speak at your Women’s group, please don’t hesitate to contact us through email: david@frmaftica.org – twinkle@frmafricia.org We will be staying from February 8th to May 15th 2012.

Happy New Year,
Dave, Twinkle, Bianca, Sophia, Zavala

2 Peter 1:5-8

But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge ,to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ”.

Dear Friends and Family,

Merry Christmas! We hope this newsletter finds you well.

As we look back at this year…. We see every reason to Praise God for He has proven Himself faithful again and again to answer our prayers, to provide for our needs, to protect us and to carry us through the times of trials and to bring encouragement through many of you.

We will be spending Christmas in Kenya, on Christmas day we will have a Christmas message then an all church lunch, followed by a scripture and gift exchange and a time of praying for one another.

Because many go up country to be with their families for Christmas we decided to have our Christmas Nativity Musical on December 4th. Twinkle, Nasiema and Mildred helped to put it together. Bianca played the part of Mary and she sang Silent Night as her solo. Sophia played the part of sheep & she sang her heart out!

Dave officiated a wedding this last month, Vincent and Sarah were married, they have been part of our church but had been living together for a while and they heeded to Dave & Arie’s counsel to  get married and walk in righteousness before God.They were married during the Wednesday church service. Twinkle found out at the day of the wedding that Sarah (the bride) wanted her to be the “ maid of honor” and Twinkle was natural at the maid of honor duties!

Twinkle accidentally cut her finger quite deep while attempting to pit an avocado, and we had to take her to the hospital and she got 8 stitches on her finger ( including muscle repair). But we got an opportunity to pray with the Surgeon who was being coaxed into a cult (William Branham) by his girl friend. He wanted to know if we knew anything about William Branham and end times. Dave was able share about the end times questions and did a little research on William and passed on the information. Dave encouraged him to study the Word for himself and find out the truth from the scriptures.

Merry Christmas,
Dave, Twinkle, Bianca, Sophia Zavala

✴Romans 6:4-11✴

4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, 6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. 7 For he who has died has been freed from sin. 8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, 9 knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. 10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. 11 Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Dear Family and Friends,

Season’s Greetings! We hope this newsletter finds you well,

Our lease for the current church building of Calvary Chapel Nairobi expired this year and our landlords have requested a ridiculously high amount of rent money to renew the lease plus they say we own extra money towards a lease agreement we never signed, so after much prayer we have decided to move the church. Dave has been looking for buildings to move the church to and are finding it challenging. Dave is constantly turned down when he mentions that he wants to rent the place for a church. We understand God is in control concerning this situation and it is His church and He will lead us to the right location & building for the church.  We request that you pray for God’s guidance for us on this matter.

We had Water Baptism at a water park near our house, 7 people got baptized. It is always awesome to see people making that outward expression of that inward transformation. Our children are taking part in our church Christmas children’s choir, on December 4th they will be acting out a Christmas skit at the church service, Bianca is playing “Mary and Sophia  is playing “sheep” : )
We want to take this opportunity to Thank all of you our beloved supporters and prayer warriors …your support means a lot to us. We pray that this festive season , as you get together with your family and friends that you would meditate on the width, the length and the depth of God’s love for you. Let Christ be the focus of our holiday season.
