Greetings from Mexico,
As we approach the end of November and the wonderful holiday of Thanksgiving, I was reminded once again of how good God has been to us. And so I am going to stuff this update like a turkey full of all of the many blessings that God has provided for us this past year.
The Apostle Paul described my heart the best with his words found in Philippians 1:3 as he wrote this:“I thank my God upon every remembrance of you”
First of all, I am thankful for the great family that God has given me. Sarah and I have now spent over 2/3rds of our married lives together here in Mexico! I could not have asked for a better friend and partner to go on this journey with than my lovely and Godly bride Sarah. Our children Grace and Daniel have spent over 90 percent of their lives here (Daniel over 99%) And I jokingly call them my reverse oreos. As they are white on the outside yet brown on the inside with their hearts and their friends and their culture being Mexican. I feel so honored and blessed that the Lord has allowed us to raise our children here on the mission field.
I am also thankful for the over 100 new believers that I was able to baptize this past year at the church. I am thankful that God continues to bring hurting and broken people into our church that understand their need to find help in our Savior Jesus Christ. And with our larger facility, we have the capacity to welcome these new believers into our fellowship.
I am thankful that God has given me the calling to raise up and send out church planters. There is no better way to multiply ministry and multiply the people you are reaching than through church planting. This past year our local church was able to not only send out three church planting families, but also provide them with financial support and the resources that they need to help them in the ripe mission fields of Mexico.
A highlight for us in November was taking our new batch of church planters (10 in this year’s class) on a field trip to visit our two closest church plants. We traveled to these two churches and were able to provide for them an amazing meal and the teachers for their children’s classes. I was also honored to preach at both churches.
I am thankful for the great church staff and volunteers that He has brought us to help us serve in the ministry here. Not only our staff Pastors, but we now have missionaries and interns and over 100 volunteers that faithfully serve God’s people here and help ministry happen.
I am thankful that the people in our church focus much of their ministry outside of the church walls! In November, Sarah and Grace were able to join 70 others in traveling to Tijuana to minister “to the least of these” that work and live in the Tijuana dump.
At the dump, our ministry team was able to cut hair, provide medical care and free meals, and (most importantly) share the love of Jesus. We were even able to rescue two drug addicts living in the dump and bring them to a Christian discipleship home here in Rosarito.
Finally, I am also thankful for you, the reader! We could not live and minister here on the mission field in Mexico without you,our precious co-laborers and prayer partners. We are thankful that you have chosen to sacrificially partner with us this past year and over the years! It is through your prayers that we are strengthened spiritually, and it is through your financial partnership that God provides for our needs. We could not do this ministry without your love, prayers, and support.
