Vincent March Update

Greetings from Rosarito,

In this update, I am happy to introduce you to a brand new ministry that we have begun in our church. And that is Celebrate Recovery. (In Spanish, “Celebracion Recuperacion”)

Celebrate Recovery (CR) is a Christ Centered Recovery Program whose tagline is… “Freedom from your hurts, hangups and habits!” And as I look around at our church, I see a bunch of people that are battling against those painful hurts, hangups and habits that life throws at us! What makes CR so effective is that it is a biblical program that is based on the words of Jesus found in the Sermon on the Mount rather than on Psychological theory which is so prevalent in our culture today. Celebrate Recovery was started in Saddleback church over 20 years ago, and over the years God has used this wonderful program to bring healing and help to thousands of people.

In my opinion, the most encouraging aspect of the program is that (on average) CR brings in over 70% of its members from outside the church. And (again on average) 85% of the people who go through the program,  stay with the church and many serve as church volunteers. Because of that track record, I believe that this program is not only going to help people, but save them and bring them into our church.

The planning for our churches program actually began nearly a year ago when some missionaries that attend our church (Rob and Cheryl Hoople of YUGO ministries) approached me about hosting Celebrate Recovery at our church. This wise couple had been using CR in the local prisons for years and had seen God bring healing and hope to those that went through the program. As we began moving forward, the Hooples quickly built up a gifted team and got the training and preparation and prayer they need to be ready for their grand opening in January of 2014.

As the opening night approached, we showed the Celebrate Recovery themed movie, “HOME RUN” at the church and over 300 people turned out. We also unveiled the program on a Sunday morning with a special sermon focused on how God is here to help us recover from life’s hurts, hang-ups and habits.

When the opening night arrived, we were pleasantly surprised at the turn out and how well the first meetings went.  We were especially blessed that the international directors of Celebrate Recovery were fully on board with us and even came down and shared at our grand opening celebration. They have recently told us that we are the only fully bilingual Celebrate Recovery program in the entire world! I wanted to share a recent message that our CR directors received from their representatives from Saddleback church.

“Congratulations, your grand opening was a total success and your team was very well prepared. We know God is going to transform many lives through this program in Rosarito. God bless you and bless your ministry.”

There is not another city that I know of that is in more desperate need of Celebrate Recovery than our hometown of Rosarito. So many families have been torn apart and marriages destroyed because of drugs and alcohol and depression, and sexual addiction. Celebrate Recovery has provided us with a proven method that God can use to  break those chains and to bring healing and victory into the lives of those that are so desperate for it. Would you please pray for us as we make this concerted effort to help those that have jumped onto this road to recovery!

Finally, I would like to once again thank you for your partnership with our family and ministry this past month.   It is through your prayers that we are strengthened spiritually, and it is through your financial partnership that God provides for our needs.
