South Asia, Here I Come!

After praying and waiting for two years, the Lord is opening the door for me to go to South Asia this June! (For security reasons and to protect the ministry, I am unable to specify the country publicly, but you may ask me privately.) No words can describe how surreal it is that I will finally step foot in the country that the Lord has so strongly laid upon my heart! When I was asking the Lord about whether this upcoming trip was His will, He gave me these verses:

“Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.” – Psalms 37:4-5

The desires of your heart. Growing up, my mom always used the phrase, “You tell me who you hang around with and I’ll tell you who you act like.” There is so much truth in that statement! The same is true when you spend time with Jesus. The deeper you go in your relationship with Him, there will naturally be a supernatural change in your life. You will begin to reflect His character, and Jesus’ desires will then become your desires. This became true as I began to draw closer to the Lord and seek what His will was for my life.

Why South Asia?

When I returned home from Bible college, He gave me a desire to serve Him not knowing at all where that would be. Due to my home church’s involvement in the 10/40 window, Jesus soon burdened my heart with the fact that there are billions of unreached souls who are still waiting to hear about Jesus. The more I sought the Lord’s will for my life, the stronger the desire became to partake of the work that Jesus has been doing in that part of the world.

Around 7.5 billion people are living on this planet, and 42% of the world’s population would still be considered unreached. Those are numbers that I can’t even wrap my head around! And yet, to Jesus, these are not just statistics. These are souls that are searching and attempting to reach God because they have not yet heard that Jesus gave His life so He could reach us. These are souls that are looking to “molden images that profit them nothing…“(Isaiah 44:10).

As the Psalmist would say, “Their idols are silver and gold, The work of men’s hands. They have mouths, but they do not speak; Eyes they have, but they do not see; They have ears, but they do not hear; Noses they have, but they do not smell; They have hands, but they do not handle; Feet they have, but they do not walk; Nor do they mutter through their throat.”(Psalm 115:4-7)

Regardless of what they bow down to, Jesus loves the nations passionately. He wants to show them that He alone is the True, Living, Loving God. Yes, these places can have difficult living conditions. Yes, these places are often filled with suffering and depravity in ways we can’t even imagine. But if Jesus were physically here, He would go to these places to reach these people and tell them about the eternal life that He paid such a high price to freely give.

A Step of Faith….

Jesus may not be physically here on this earth, but we are to be His hands and feet as we have His Holy Spirit living inside of us. And this June, He is giving me this opportunity to do so in South Asia. Along with a small team of some of the most amazing people I know, I will be visiting the handful of our missionaries who have been able to start three separate works in three regions of this country. Our role as a team will be to encourage, stir up, and put on various conferences for our family in Christ.

God has made it abundantly clear that He desires that I go on this trip and be part of stirring up the body of Christ. I can sit down with you and tell you story after story about how He has confirmed this! It is extremely exciting, but just as you take steps of faith in obedience to the Lord, I must do the same. This trip will be a huge step of faith for numerous reasons; financially, practically, and spiritually.

Financially, this is a massive step of faith but also an opportunity to see the hand of God move miraculously as I watch and wait for His provision. The Lord has provided 1/4 for the needed costs of airfare and all in-country travel expenses, and I believe that He wants His church to get engaged in the Great Commission, even if they aren’t able to “GO.”

Please join me in prayer for God’s faithful provision for this trip!

If you’ve talked to me recently about the country “I feel called” to, you probably already know where I am talking about. But if you have any questions or would like to hear more about how the Lord has stirred my heart, I would love to talk with you! I also greatly covet your prayers as I prepare for what the Lord has for me in South Asia:

Prayer Requests

  • Pray that the Lord would be completely glorified through our team as we desire to be His vessels in South Asia
  • Pray that every encounter we have with people would draw them to our Father in Heaven
  • Pray that the Lord would teach our team to fight the good fight and wage the good warfare as we go through various levels of spiritual warfare
  • Pray that God would strengthen us physically and keep us in good health
  • Pray that God would pour out His wisdom and direction on my life as I am on this trip

For His Name’s Sake,
Nikki
