James 1:27 Just Got a Little More Challenging

About a month ago the inevitable dreaded day finally arrived… the newly installed cell tower in our valley came online… The Mission is now connected with the rest of the world 🙁

The Mission had always been a place focused on:

Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

James 1:27

Until now our remote location and lack of phone service provided a location where visitors could experience being undistracted from the world. That made being “unspotted from the world” a lot easier to put into practice. But as our Lord keeps repeating to me, I must “learn to abound”.

…for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound

Philippians 4:11-12

I love to abide in a condtion where its easy to stay close to the Lord, without distraction, but if I’m not challenged I might be in a secure place with the Lord, but I’m not strong. There comes a time when he pushes us out into the world and we have to exercise what we believe when we encounter resistance… resistance strength training.

I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

John 17:15-16

Also, I have a habit of underlining in my bible the numerous times God commands us to, “Be strong.” He is our strength and there comes a point that He moves us into a situation where He proves Himself strong.

Fortunately there haven’t been any major effects on the atmosphere of the Mission. Our staff are great and are very mindful and focused on the kids. It has improved peoples ability to contact us to answer questions or make arrangements for visits… which is a good thing… but there are many of us who wouldn’t hesitate to go back to the “good-ole-days” when we were more at God’s mercy and grace and peace.

Soooo… if anyones needing to contact the Mission I’ll have the phone on me from Sunday noon till Friday noon, and I’ll check my email… with a good attitude 🙂
