Hebrews 10:36, “You need to persevere so that when

you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has

It was February 2012 when Pastor Juventine Emuku, MD and I were brought together by divine appointment during a medical mission trip to Kenya, Sudan and Uganda. It was during that trip that Dr. Emuku secretly revealed to me his calling by God to return to his childhood home in Soroti, Uganda to plant a Calvary Chapel Church and construct a Christian hospital to serve both the physical as well as the spiritual needs of the community. Several months later Dr. Emuku traveled to a Calvary Chapel Sr. Pastor’s Conference in Southern California where we met with Sean Lawrence, Executive Director, Giving Children Hope. It was during that trip that Dr. Emuku, Sean Lawrence and I formed a partnership to acquire the medical equipment for the new hospital in Soroti and to containerize it and ship it to Soroti.

It has now been 20 months since we began our missionary work to come alongside Dr. Juventine and Dr. Elizabeth Emuku to complete the construction of the Bethesda Hospital and to plant a new Calvary Chapel Church in Soroti. With God’s help, Mary and I were able to raise the $50,000 necessary to purchase the hospital equipment, a container, shipping freight to Eastern Uganda, trucking/third party processing fees and a crane to lift the container into it final place at the hospital. Many of you reading this newsletter played a critical financial & prayer role in this blessed accomplishment. Because of all your efforts the people of Soroti, Uganda will receive their own blessing of health and spiritual growth.

Mary and I want to thank God for his blessings and for giving us the strength to persevere the attacks from within the church, the Soroti community and the family separation and financial challenges we faced. We look forward to returning home at the end of the year and sharing God’s blessings with each of you.

God Bless,

Doug & Mary
