Easter Week!

Greetings from Mexico,

At the beginning of the month, we were blessed to celebrate Easter Sunday with our believing friends all over the world. We find the message of Easter in Matthew 28:6, where an angel told the women standing around the tomb, “He is not here, He is risen” and the good news of Easter is that Jesus is alive!

For our ministry, we celebrated the Resurrection all week long at our church beginning with a special Passover service, which was followed by a Good Friday celebration, and then of course our weekend Easter services. In this update, I wanted to report to you all of the great things that Jesus did during Easter week through His church!

The weekend began on Friday night with our annual Easter Drama and Choir presentation. This year, we had two showings and the presentation was off the charts amazing. The program included our best choir yet which led us in anointed singing and worship! The adult choir was also joined by a children’s choir and a girls dance troupe that livened up the evening.

After a couple of choir numbers, the drama team reenacted the triumphal entry with Jesus entering into the sanctuary surrounded by crowds of costumed actors crying joyously, “Hosanna, blessed is He that comes in the name of the Lord!”

The entire drama was powerful, but the highlight was definitely the resurrection scene, where Jesus appeared to Mary in front of a full size empty tomb. We followed this scene with the presentation of the Gospel to our many first time visitors in the audience. This was a wonderful night and everyone left encouraged.

On Saturday and Sunday we celebrated Easter Weekend at our church. The title of my Easter sermon was “JESUS IS ALIVE” and we had numerous first time visitors in attendance. The biggest blessing of all was that after I shared the Gospel at the end of the sermon, we had 18 people profess faith in Jesus for the very first time. Please keep these special folks in your prayers.

For me personally, a special Easter blessing was our church presented me with a brand new pulpit for Easter! This pulpit is very modern looking,  it has a video screen embedded in front, and it is a whopping 48 inches wide! (Leaving plenty of room for me and my translators to share the teaching space.)

Also on Easter Sunday, we were happy to offer a special fun filled program for our children led by the greatest clown troupe in the world,  “Evangelion and the league of faith!”  As the children gathered outside, each child was reminded that they are loved by Jesus and important to their church as they danced and laughed and praised our King.

Each child left the celebration with a Easter balloon and a bag of candy.   To top it all off, we offered free snacks and drinks and free Easter family photos for everyone to remember this awesome weekend.

In an effort to plug in our many new visitors to the church, the following weekend we offered our new folks bbq and desert. We hold these special “get to know you” gatherings often and for these meetings we had over 125 new folks attend. Each one of these people have less than 2 months in our church, and many of them had attended the church for the very first time during Easter week. Most importantly, each one of these individuals are loved by God and in need of a church family to love them and to equip them to do what God has called them to do. Please join us in praying that we would be able to effectively meet the needs of these many visitors and new believers that are coming to our church.

Finally, I can’t finish up a letter without once again thanking you for partnering with our family and ministry.  It is through your prayers that we are strengthened spiritually, and it is through your financial partnership that God provides for our needs. We are honored to serve as your missionaries.

Con mucho amor de Mexico,  (with much love from Mexico)

Prayer Requests:

  1. Please pray that the new believers and our visitors would get plugged into our fellowship and feel loved and welcomed!
  2. Please pray that God would provide for the needs of our family. (We have lost several supporters in the past 6 months and our support has been down)
  3. Praise God for the spiritual fruit that he is bringing in through His church!
