My name is Rebecca Alaniz and I am a 26 year old who wants nothing more than to just serve Jesus wherever He has called me. Since a young age, I’ve had a heart to serve on the missions field. I loved being able to share Jesus with people while getting to know them in their own country. However, after I graduated high school, I began working towards my bachelors degree from Cal State Fullerton. It was in those four years of college that the Lord showed me that He had a different calling than what I had planned for myself. After graduating from CSUF, I continued my education at Calvary Chapel Bible College. It was through one of the extension campuses that I was able to meet the ministry that I am now serving with.
Though I was not able to point to Croatia on a map, I jumped at the opportunity to be able to serve the Roma people. While on a short term missions trip to Croatia, I realized how much work there is to be done in the Roma community. I am currently working in the villages, with the children. We prepare Bible lessons, crafts and meals for the children. My goal is to make sure that every child in the village hears about Jesus and comes to recognize Him as their personal Lord and Savior. I am also teaching English to a group of youth from the villages. It is through the weekends that I spend with them, inside and outside of the classroom, that I have been given the privilege to reflect Christ’s love to them. Though language is sometimes a barrier, there are a million of other ways of showing God’s love to these kids. Croatia went from being a foreign place on a map to becoming my home.
