Vincent Family January 2020 Missions Update

Greetings from Mexico,

Our family hopes and prays that you had a blessed Christmas and a very Happy New Year! I am not sure about you, but I am tired of failing in my New Year’s Resolutions, so this new year, I have two resolutions that I think that I am going to be able to keep this year. In the year 2020, I intend too #1- Eat more, and #2- GAIN WEIGHT! (two resolutions I believe I will finally keep!)

Well in this update I wanted to talk to you about our vision for the family and the ministry! Personally, my vision for my family for 2020 is IMPROVED COMMUNICATION! My beautiful wife Sarah has reminded me of the importance that I communicate my heart and feelings and highs and lows with my family, and this year I am committed to doing that.  I also want to get better at communicating with my precious children Grace and Daniel, who I am so proud of and blessed with! Please keep my communication in your prayers!

In the church, our focus for 2020 is to re-focus on our church’s vision statement, REACH- EQUIP- SEND! To begin, we want to continue to REACH the lost with a relentless commitment to love the lost living around us, while continuing to present the message of salvation at every single one of our church services and events.

Next up, we want to EQUIP! Our main church services where I preach and our 30+ weekly studies where I don’t, all have the same goal of equipping believers to do the work that God has called them to do. The Bible reminds us of the purpose of the church in Ephesians 4:12! The church exists to “equip the saints for the work of the ministry!”  And that ministry isn’t just serving the Lord at church, but it always begins in the home with the family and continues on out into the community where we interact with our co-workers and friends and neighbors.

Third and finally, as a church, we want to continue to SEND out Pastors, finances, and training to reach Mexico and beyond through church planting. We are excited about a possible 6 church plants that we believe are ripe and preparing to be sent out in 2020! This gifted group includes our first church plant outside of the US and Mexico, which is set to be in Guatemala! (Our church planter Giovanni is there right now on his church planting vision tour!) Please pray for me and our church planting program to have the wisdom from the Lord regarding who is to be sent out, and the timing of when they are to be sent!

Precious partners, God has a wonderful plan for you and your family as well in 2020! We are praying that God’s “good and perfect” will is fully revealed in your lives as we begin this new decade. We are thankful that you have decided to partner with our family.  It is through your prayers that God meets our spiritual needs, and through your financial support that God meets our physical needs. We are honored and blessed to serve the Lord as your missionaries here in the ripe fields of Mexico!

Con mucho amor de Mexico,  (with much love from Mexico)

Mike, Sarah, Grace, and Daniel

Prayer Requests!

#1-  That God would help me grow in communication, beginning with the ones I love the most, my wife and children!

#2-  That God would continue to provide for the needs of our family and church in Rosarito!

Praise Reports!

#1- Praise God last month for a new church plant sent out to Tulancingo Hidalgo (Near Mexico City)

#2- Praise God for a blessed and fruitful Christmas season!

Vincent Family November 2019 Missions Update

Greetings from Mexico,

This month our church got to send out another church plant, and this one was not only  very special,  but it really hit home for me and our church family!

I met my good friend Fernando Serrano, over 10 years ago when he and his family joined our church here in Rosarito! After seeing Fernando serve and seeing his spiritual gifting’s, I offered Fernando a full time position on our church staff as an assistant Pastor.

Over the past 10 years, Fernando has served our church family in a wide variety of ministries that I would like to share with you. First off, Fernando started up our young adults group we call “Agamos”, (ages 18 to 30) that averages nearly 100 young adults at their weekly meetings. Next, Fernando transformed our once struggling Spanish men’s study, “hombres de fe” (men of faith) and transformed it into a large thriving weekly hub for men to grow spiritually. Fernando, also has been the director of our ever important church counseling program.

Besides all that, Fernando served as one of my key right hand men, and one of my main translators for our church’s bilingual services. About 6 months ago, Fernando approached me and told me that he believed that God was calling him and his family to plant a bilingual church in Las Vegas Nevada. You can imagine my shock and surprise as I didn’t see this coming. But as I prayed and considered the pain it would cost our local church body to lose him, God reminded me of the early church located in the city of Antioch.

Acts Chapter 13 tells us that two men named Saul (later Paul the Apostle) and Barnabas were leaders in the local church located in the city of Antioch. We can be sure that the gifted Apostle was the favorite Bible teacher of that congregation, yet God was calling Paul and Barnabas to leave their friends and family and church to travel around the Roman Empire to preach the Gospel and plant churches. I can imagine the difficulty that church faced in this decision, yet they were willing to allow their best to depart, and they sent Paul and Barnabas out on their first missionary journey!

This past weekend, we had our sending services dedicated to hear from and send out our dear friends Fernando, his wife Liliana, and their children. There were many tears as we said our goodbyes and sent them out. Yet my firm believe in God’s heart to church plant has filled my heart with joy for the privilege and honor of sending out this family to complete the work that God has called them to do.

In October,  I was blessed to travel with Fernando to Las Vegas on our church planting vision tour. We spent a lot of our time in North Las Vegas (the area of this future church plant, over 50% Hispanic) to seek the Lord. God spoke to us clearly through His word, and through prayer, and through His Spirit. We are believing that God is going to do great things through this bilingual church.

Fernando is not only one of my best friends, but we were often roomates as we got to travel around Mexico to visit our church planters.  Our wives are also great friends, and our kids (who are the same age) are too! To be honest, it hurts to send out your best servants, but because we believe that this is God’s plan, we are happy to do it. Would you please keep Las Vegas Bilingual Church in your prayers, and if you have friends or family living in Vegas, please pass on the word about this new church coming soon to transform sin city!

Finally, I want to thank you once again for partnering with us here in the ministry! It is through your prayers that God meets our spiritual needs, and through your financial giving that God provides for our physical needs. We are honored and blessed to serve the Lord as your missionaries here in the ripe fields of Mexico!

Con mucho amor de Mexico,  (with much love from Mexico)

Mike, Sarah, Grace, and Daniel

Prayer Requests!

#1-  That God would continue to bless the preparation of our newest church plant, Las Vegas Bilingual Church and the Serrano family!

#2-  That God would continue to provide for the needs of our family and church in Rosarito!

#1- Praise God last month for a blessed church planting vision tour to Las Vegas!

Vincent Family October 2019 Missions Update

Greetings from Mexico,

In this month’s mission’s letter, I wanted to give you an update on our next church plant!

One of the most surprising aspects for me about our church planting program is that God has given us the great privilege of planting 4 (and soon to be 5) churches back in the United States!

Only God could call an American Missionary to plant a church planting school in Mexico, to train up church planters to church plant in the United States. This certainly was never my plan, but I can see now it was God’s!

I had the privilege of meeting my good friend Donnie Aldana over 10 years ago while he was on staff at a large church in Surprise, Arizona. Donnie led yearly missions teams to our church in Rosarito where we quickly became friends. After Donnie taught at one of our church’s conferences one year, God put it on my heart to ask him to pray about joining us someday to train to church plant!  Although Donnie was very open to it, the timing wasn’t right, so we continued to pray!

Fast forward 9 years later, we realized that the timing was right for Donnie and his wife Coby to begin to train up with us to church plant. After a year of training where they excelled in all of their assignments and coursework, the time is now! And we are proud to tell you that Refresh Church Waddell will be having their grand opening services very soon!

The vision of this church is to refresh the saints, and Donnie and Coby excel at doing this. If you ever have the chance to meet them, you will be amazed at their story of how God lifted them out of the ashes for such a time as this! God has refreshed both Donnie and Coby through unspeakable trials and tribulations, and they are ready to share the refreshment they have received from the Lord with others!

Last month, I had the opportunity to travel to Waddell, Arizona (30 miles from Phoenix) for the very first time to go on a church planting vision tour and I instantly fell in love with it. As we sought the Lord and prayed about God’s vision for this church plant, God was faithful and He gave us very clear directions about His heart for this church!

One interesting aspect of this particular church I am particularly excited about is that it is going to be the first non-denominational church we have ever planted! I love being a Calvary Chapel Pastor, but I am also aware that God’s plan for the world is much bigger than any particular denomination or religious tradition.  I hope that this church is the first of many non-denominational church plants that we get to be a part of!

Presently, the core team training meetings (weekly meetings for Bible Study, prayer, and preparation for the church) for Refresh Church are scheduled to begin in October while the Sunday services will be starting in January of 2020! Please keep this upcoming church plant in your prayers!

Finally, I want to thank you once again for partnering with us here in the ministry! When you read about these church plants, please know that as ministry partners, they are all part of your spiritual fruit!  We are honored and blessed to serve the Lord as your missionaries here in the ripe fields of Mexico!

Con mucho amor de Mexico,  (with much love from Mexico)

Mike, Sarah, Grace, and Daniel

Prayer Requests!

#1-  That God would continue to bless the preparation of our next church plant, Refresh Church, Waddell, Arizona!

#1- Praise God last month for a blessed church planting vision tour to Waddell!

#2- Praise God for the work He is doing in our local church here in Rosarito!

Vincent Family March 2019 Missions Update

Greetings from Mexico,

This month we had an amazing Grand Re-Opening celebration for our church, and in this update, I wanted to tell you all about it! Many of you know that we have three weekend services down here in Rosarito at the church, and although our church has never experienced explosive growth, little by little the Lord has built up and added to our church! (Mostly through new believers, praise God)

Last year our sanctuary began to fill up, so we began a fund raising campaign to prepare for a sanctuary expansion project that would be built over our old patio.  Our church responded generously and 6 months ago we broke ground on our 250 seat sanctuary expansion! Last month,  we were blessed to have our grand re-opening and what a celebration it was!

It was such a blessing to see our church families smile and rejoice, as they entered into the courts of our new sanctuary area with praise. On our very first weekend, we had over 600 local adults for our third and final service, a new single service church record! This newly completed expansion will serve our church body in a number of vital ways.

First off, the new facility serves as our new family zone! Although we have a fantastic children’s ministry with many dedicated teachers, some of our parents enjoy keeping their children with them during the church service. To meet that need, we now have special family zone seating in the back where the little ones can enjoy their freedom as their parents worship!

Our new expansion also comes with handy removable doors, that shut to transform the space into a large standalone classroom designed for weekly studies, meals,  and other gatherings. Already, our Celebrate Recovery Ministry, young adults, and Marriage ministries have claimed it for their weekly meetings, and the results so far have been fantastic.

Another huge blessing of this expansion is that it has given us a brand new 2nd level 3000+ square foot patio for fellowship. Called the upper room, this breezy new patio will eventually be covered and equipped with restrooms and bbq facilities for the church to enjoy!

In Matthew 16:18 Jesus said “I will build my church”, and slowly but surely, we have seen the Lord do that here in Rosarito. We are so thankful for not only our friends and family here in Mexico, but for you, our precious ministry partners! We have seen God do great things here, and we are honored and blessed that you are co-laborering with us. Thank you once again for your love, prayers, and financial partnership!

Con mucho amor de Mexico,  (with much love from Mexico)

Mike, Sarah, Grace, and Daniel

Prayer Requests!

#1-  That God would fill up the new seating that he has provided in our sanctuary expansion with new believers that we could love and disciple!

#2-  That God would continue to provide for the needs of our family and church in Rosarito!

Praise Reports!

#1- Praise God for the 27 mostly new believers that were baptized in our February baptism! (include my brother Mitch’s youngest daughter Hope)

#2- Praise the Lord for our new batch of church planters that started a new year of classes in February!

Vincent Family February 2019 Ministry Update

Greetings from Mexico,

I hope that you have had a great start to the New Year! Our life is busy just like yours, and my wife Sarah got to begin the new year by traveling to Acapulco Mexico (home to the famous cliff divers) to teach at a women’s retreat!  In this update, I want to share the highlights of her trip with you!

Sarah was able to travel south to the beautiful beach town of Acapulco to teach at the women’s retreat of the church of our good friends Stacy and Hassan Villegas! The theme of this conference was “El Camino” (The Way) and Sarah was blessed to be the featured speaker!

If you haven’t had the opportunity to hear Sarah speak, she is an amazing teacher, and one of very few missionaries that can teach with fluency and excellence in two languages! After living here in Mexico for 17 years and battling to get fluent in Spanish myself, I am jealous (in a good way) of Sarah’s amazing grasp of the Spanish language. (In fact, I believe she teaches better in Spanish than English, as the Spanish romance language and beautiful words brings out her passion for the Lord and His word!)

Sarah’s main two teachings were titled “Packing Lightly”  and “The Detours of Life!” While talking about life’s detours, Sarah was able to share about how we can deal with God’s unexpected detours come crashing in. In those challenging times, we need to remember God’s faithfulness in the past and believe that He will not only get us through life’s detours, but even use them for good!

Sarah was especially encouraged visiting Acapulco, because even though it is one of the most dangerous cities in the world, God is moving powerfully and saving people, there and using this local church in amazing ways! Sarah made some great new friends, and was a blessing to each woman in attendance!

I am so thankful to have Sarah as not only my wife, but a very gifted lady who is willing to use her gifts to bless ladies not only here in our hometown of Rosarito, but in this beautiful nation of Mexico! I am so thankful that God chose her to be my partner in our missions journeys here in Mexico.

I am also thankful that God has chosen you to partner with our family and ministry in the mission field of Mexico. God has truly done beyond what we could have ever ask or think, and we are blessed to have your partnership on this journey!

Con mucho amor de Mexico,  (with much love from Mexico)

Mike, Sarah, Grace, and Daniel

Prayer Requests!

#1-  That God would bless  our new church planting class of 2019 beginning in February!

#2-  That God would continue to provide for the needs of our family and church in Rosarito!

Praise Reports!

#1- Praise God for our new 250 seat sanctuary expansion that we are opening up at the beginning of February!

#2- Praise the Lord that our Oaxaca Church Planting team has safely arrived in Oaxaca and has begun their ministry!

PS: SPECIAL INVITATION!   Do you know that 90% of the New Testament takes place in modern day Turkey? I want to invite you to join me as we follow in the footsteps of Paul the Apostle and take a tour to the Holy Land of Turkey! The trip will take place in November of 2019 and you are invited to join Sarah and I on this life changing tour, please contact me for more details!

Vincent Family November 2018 Missions Update

Greetings from Mexico,

In this update, I wanted to share with you about a missions trip my son Daniel and I got to take last month to visit two of our church plants! We were blessed to travel with my good friend and assistant Pastor, Fernando and his son Dan who is one of Daniel’s best friends! We also traveled with our good friends Jeff and Bonnie Johnson, who served on our church staff for many years. The purpose of this trip was to visit and encourage two of our church plants and build up the churches through conferences!

Our trip began in the beautiful seaside city of Todos Santos located in Southern Baja! This city, home to the original famous Hotel California (for you Eagles music fans) is located on the rough and raw Southwest tip of Baja! After a quick trip to the beach, our ministry team visited our 6-month-old church plant that is called 412 Todos Santos. This is one of our 3 2ndgeneration church plants, that was directly planted by one of our church plants! (3-year-old Calvary Chapel Rancho Libertad, located 30 minutes south of us in the community of  La Mision)

6 months ago, our friends sent out a team of 5 to begin this new venture of faith! Besides supporting them financially every month, our church has a commitment to visit and encourage each one of these next generation church plants. In a certain way, we consider these churches our GRANDAUGHTER CHURCHES that have been sent out by our daughter churches!

After receiving a tour of the property, we hosted a conference on the Bible. To our delight, around 40 church members turned out for the Thursday conference, and we even had one first time profession of faith. We finished up the conference with a delicious Carnitas taco feast that our church was blessed to provide. It was so encouraging to see how God is spreading our passion for church planters to our church plants.

The rest of our five-day trip took place in the beautiful capital city of La Paz! (Located in the South East of South Baja) Our days began early as we woke up and had our son’s lead us in morning devotions! Also in La Paz, we hosted a two-day marriage and family conference that was open to the entire community!

We had about 80 in attendance and our boys helped out and served all day in the bustling children’s ministry! In my teachings, I was able to teach the roles of marriage and raising children in the ways of the Lord!

On Sunday, I was blessed to preach to the 4-year-old congregation of CCLa Paz! They have a great ministry team, including three families that were sent out of our church in the past few years! On Sunday morning, the attendance was well over 100 adults, and we were honored to witness 3 first time professions of faith!

The Pastor (Michael McDonald) and his wife Sharlene then took us out to an amazing secluded beach where we enjoyed an afternoon of lunch, fellowship, and snorkeling! If you are the kind of person that loves warm clear water, secluded beaches, and beautiful fish, I highly encourage you to visit La Paz!

Finally, I want to thank you once again for partnering with our family and ministry in the mission field of Mexico. As the church planter, Paul wrote in the scriptures, “I planted, Apollo’s watered, but GOD gave the increase!” We feel very honored and blessed that you have chosen to partner with our family and ministry! THANK YOU!

Con mucho amor de Mexico,  (with much love from Mexico)

Mike, Sarah, Grace, and Daniel

Prayer Requests!

#1-  That God would move powerfully in the two church plants that we visited on our missions trip!

#2-  That God would continue to provide for the needs of our family and church in Rosarito!

Praise Reports!

#1- Praise God that my son Daniel (and Fernando’s son Dan) got to minister with us on our missions trip!

#2- Praise the Lord for the continued progress on our church’s new patio and sanctuary expansion!

Vincent Family September 2018

Greetings from Mexico,
This past month, our church was blessed to host a church planting conference. In this update, I wanted to tell you about the great things that God did during this conference.
Our church planting weekend began on Friday evening as we had 12 of our church planers return from the field to share with our church congregation about the great things God has done!
Most of our local church planters shared, along with several who flew in for this special event. Each one gave a testimony along with some prayer requests, along with thanking our church for their support.
A special highlight for me was listening to a church planting panel made up solely of our church planters. I felt like a proud papa as I sat back in the audience and heard our church planters answer question after question from our church body with wisdom and clarity!  The evening was well attended as many in our congregation personally support their friends that have been sent out to church plant.
While the Friday evening conference was open to our local church, all day Saturday we hosted a bilingual conference that was open to any and all pastors and leaders that were interested in learning about church planting.  For the first time, this conference was held not in our church facility, but at one of our church plants located in a beautiful town called La Mision about 30 minutes south of us!
This two-year-old church plant, (Liberty Ranch Calvary Chapel) has not only flourished in their community, but they have already launched out and sent out their own church plant to a community located in the Southern Baja surf town of Todos Santos.
We were blessed as two of our ministry partners traveled down from the US, to be our featured speakers at the main conference. Pastor Bruce Zackary (Nexus Calvary in Camarillo) has been a long time friend and mentor to me. Bruce wrote the Calvary Church Planting Manual which is the text we use in our church planting course, and he partners in several of our church plants. Pastor Bruce gave us a powerful word and challenged us to be faithful to our calling.
Pastor Derek Neider is the pastor of Calvary Chapel in Las Vegas! Besides being a close personal friend, he is also a partner with us in several of our church plants.  Pastor Derek shared a humorous yet Spirit-filled talk that left all of us blessed. Both of these Pastors have not only a deep love for Mexico but a passion for church planting and seeing the Kingdom of God grow through the entire world. We are honored to have them as speakers and ministry partners.
For those in attendance at the conference that felt called to plant, they left encouraged. For those not sure, they left praying for God’s perfect will for their life and family. We ended the conference by having those that felt called come forward, where our leadership laid on hands and prayed for God’s perfect will and timing.
The following week,  our church began our new semester in our church planting class. With over 30 men and women enrolled this semester, (including several new couples) we are excited to see God’s church planting plans unfold through these faithful believers!
It is my hope and prayer that you are encouraged by this update. We are co-laborers in the ministry, and it is an honor and blessing for me that you have chosen to partner with us in this amazing work! Thank you!
Con mucho amor de Mexico,  (with much love from Mexico)
Mike, Sarah, Grace, and Daniel
Prayer Requests!
  1. That God would speak to and call those in our new church planting course!
  2. That God would provide financially for our family and church in Rosarito!
Praise Reports!
  1. Praise the Lord for a blessed and fruitful church planting conference!
  2. Praise God for provision and for the progress on our church’s new patios and sanctuary expansion!

Vincent Family August 2018 Missions Update

Greetings from Mexico,

This past month, Sarah and I were able to celebrate our 21st anniversary by traveling south to the amazing city of Guadalajara! Guadalajara is not only beautiful and historic, but it is also the 2nd largest city in Mexico with over 8 million residents!

Downtown Guadalajara is also famous for their Spanish language courses.  To take advantage of that, I attended a Advanced Spanish language course, which I attended each morning from 9am to 1pm! This small international class had 5 students, 1 each from Morocco, Poland, Germany, the US, and Mexico! (Me 🙂 )  Although the class was a challenge, studying the different advanced verb tenses each day was beneficial and I learned a lot!

Another reason for visiting Guadalajara was to spend time with our good friends Pastor Lalo and Linda Fernandez and their two young children. We were blessed to send this family out to church plant nearly two years ago and they have done an amazing job planting their church, Esperanza Viva! (Living hope)

Throughout the week, we were able to spend quality time ministering and praying together all the while enjoying the delicious regional cuisine!

A special highlight for me was to teach their church’s midweek service in Spanish! Although I have been fluent in Spanish for a few years, because we are a bilingual church here in Rosarito, I rarely get the opportunity to teach only in Spanish! I taught on forgiveness and the 30 in attendance seemed attentive and I didn’t get to many confused looks, so I guess they could understand me fine.

Sarah was also able to host the ladies in the fellowship for a ladies tea! During her teaching, Sarah shared her testimony here in Mexico, and using the Psalms, encouraged the ladies to believe in and follow God’s good plan for their lives! The ladies had a special prayer time afterwards and the ladies left encouraged and many of their hearts were touched by the Lord!

We consider it a huge privilege to travel to our church plants and when we do, we not only represent our church, but you as our ministry partners. We want to once again thank you for partnering with us as your missionaries here in Mexico! It is through your prayers that God meets our spiritual needs, and through your financial giving that God provides our physical needs. We love you and appreciate your partnership!

Vincent Family June 2018 Missions Update

Greetings from Mexico,

We have some exciting news to share with you. As God has continued to bless our church, we have undertaken a new building project. In this update, we want to tell you all about it! Over the years, God has continually brought first time guests and local visitors to our church. Unfortunately, we have not done a great job of keeping them, which was a focus for us last year as we began our New Believers class to plug them in and disciple them.

This program has been affective in retaining our guests and at present, we find ourselves in need of a sanctuary expansion and new fellowship areas. To meet this need, we are adding a sanctuary expansion and two new patios to our church facility!

First off, in phase 1 we are redesigning and improving our patio fellowship area. This project has begun and we have already graded and enclosed our new Patio out in front of the church and it measures 50% larger than our previous one. This expanded space, will be used for fellowshipping, eating (of course) and also house our upcoming connections center which will be designed to help our congregation get connected to the right ministries and leaders at the church. Later on, in stage three of this project, we will be building a smaller 2nd patio that will be located on the roof of our sanctuary expansion. (In the space located above our present patio)

Stage 2 is our sanctuary expansion. If you have visited our church here in Mexico, the old patio inside of the gates and fence is going to be transformed into our sanctuary expansion. Eventually the back walls of our sanctuary will be blown out, and a 250+  seating area will be added.

This sanctuary addition, will not only provide  more space for our main services in the sanctuary, but will also have the capability of being closed off and have a self-enclosed audio and video system. This extra room will provide for us a much needed medium size meeting room that is able to host large meetings and bible studies, and mid-sized banquets.

Finally, I want to once again thank you for supporting our family as your missionaries. We are honored and thankful that you have chosen to partner with us and we love and appreciate you very much!
