Sorry for the lack of newsletters recently, things have been pretty hectic at the Ponce house recently. For those of you who don’t know I can sum up why with one word: TWINS! On January 2nd Manny and Gracie were born, both were healthy and we were able to take them home a week later. Since then we have been adjusting to life with the two new additions to our family. At first our son Levi (almost 2 years old) didn’t really know what to think of his brother and sister but now he goes up to them every now and then and gives them kisses… or tries to give them some of his food haha. The twins are steadily putting on weight and starting to sleep a bit more (Praise God!), Jody has been amazing with them the whole time.
Not only has our family at home expanded but so has our Church family, in the past few months Calvary Cork has experienced a surge of new people attending services, we have steadily been filling all our seats, with some people even standing in the back during services. It’s been exciting seeing God work in and through Calvary Cork. Recently we have expanded our worship team, started a youth group, launched a prayer ministry and revamped our home groups. It has definitely been exciting seeing God move in and through our church in the past few months.
As some of you know I have been studying Film making at College here in Cork and I actually just finished my final year! It has been a great two years and I have definitely learned a lot and am looking forward to using my skills to help spread the Gospel and share the stories of what God is doing here in Ireland and Europe as a whole. With college now finished I will begin working full-time at Church, assisting Pastor Mike in the logistical aspects of running the church and practical maintenance and upkeep of the church building, in addition to all the audio visual and website work I have already been doing.
This summer there are a lot of exciting things taking place. In July there is a team coming from Florida that are going to build a mini-ramp (small half-pipe) in the warehouse at the back of the church. We are hoping to build it in under a week and to have a grand-opening with food/prizes for the opening of this new Skate ministry at the end. Im beyond excited to once again start a skate ministry, it has been amazing seeing God open the doors for it to happen! In August I will be once again helping out at Creationfest (www.creationfest.org.uk) which is a week long evangelistic outreach in England. There is lots of Bible Teaching, Concerts, games and events for people of all ages. They also build an indoor skatepark, which is where I helped out last year, teaching kids how to skate and sharing the Gospel. I had a great time meeting other Christian Skaters and was encouraged by their hearts towards reaching people with the Gospel. This time I will be helping out again with the skatepark and possibly doing some teaching as well. We have already been planning and preparing how to do things better and I am excited for what the Lord is going to do and praying that lasting relationships will be formed. This year Creationfest is branching out and starting a small one day event in Glasgow, Scotland about two weeks after the big one in England. They asked if I would be available to help with that one as well, helping out with the skate park and also doing some video work for them.
It’s humbling being able to take part in what God is doing in Europe, especially within the skateboarding community, a group that often gets overlooked or deemed as hostile to, or disinterested in receiving the Gospel. When I look back on the past 10 years of ministry here in Europe its been amazing seeing how God has moved in the lives of the young people (particularly skaters) I have met, and I look forward to seeing him reach the lives of many hungry young people here in Cork through this new Skatepark ministry. Jody and I thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers for our family and the
ministries God has us in. God bless you all.
