Ends of the Earth Ministries

In South Sudan:
Please continue to pray for the nation of South Sudan. Decades of Civil War have collapsed the economy, resulting in mass starvation and desperation. Hopelessness and violence run rampant throughout communities.

Pray for our 500 students that are being daily discipled in the love of God and His Word, so they may lead their nation Into a new season of hope.

Pray for the 75 children and young adults in our children’s home and for the Missionary parents that are laying down their lives to provide peace and unconditional love to these precious ones. Please pray for the new churches in the Tauso & Taposa villages. Pray that the pastors and medical staff will have the spiritual and physical tenacity to handle the countless challenges while living amongst Stone-Age tribes.

In Kenya:
Pray for the refugee students in our missionary training college in the Kakuma Refugee Camp. They are fasting and praying as they prepare to return to South Sudan to begin reaching cities across the border in North Sudan, with hopes to plant churches amongst Muslim peoples in 2020-21.

In USA:
Pray for the Missions Equip Training Programs. We are in the throws of launching two new schools this year.
The first – International School, will be used in Bible Colleges as a complete missions training course.
The second – Transformation, is a cross-cultural immersion training program, equipping missionaries to assimilate into their new culture while learning the language and world view.  Pray that God would continue to empower, envision and sustain us as we seek to establish nationally led, culturally relevant, biblical-based churches among unreached peoples.

Thank you for your prayers!

Yours for the unreached,

NORTH AMERICA

Bond, Heather and Breanna – S. Asia and Africa

Praise Report
– Praise God for two of the campuses continuing to disciple and teach through the lockdowns. Pray for continued health for the staff and students.

Prayer Report:
1. Pray for India and Nepal as they are in strict lockdown again starting the beginning of May. No cars on the road, no travel, no work, no schools are open, airports are closed, etc. A lot of people are dying with this second wave of the pandemic there and even more are suffering because of lack of work and food. Pray for healing and for protection for our brothers and sisters serving there. Pray as they love their neighbors and meet online (for those who are in the city and have internet) that God would encourage and strengthen the believers and that many would turn to Christ through this.

2. Pray for the timing of our rescheduled trip. Our flights were canceled when the airport shut down just three days before we were set to travel to Nepal.

3. Pray for Bond as he teaches online two days a week to one campus in South Asia and another day to another location. Pray for God to strengthen him and for effective teaching through technology as pastors continue to be raised up and prepared.

4.Pray for our family as we have a team of young adults we will be leading on a missions trip to Mexico in a few weeks. We have been teaching, training and investing and we are excited that a great group has answered the call to GO! Pray for a fruitful time of ministry and that we would be a blessing to all we serve and reach out to in Jesus name.

Thank you for praying,

Brechtel Family -Oaxaca, Mexico

Prayer Requests:
1. Please be praying for the Lord’s timing and wisdom on when and where we should buy land to build a men’s rehab/discipleship center. The Lord has provided a good portion of the finances so we are just praying for His guidance and wisdom.

2. Pray for the Navigator’s classes that are being held at Calvary Oaxaca. These classes have been such a blessing. We have watched people grow in their faith and have seen new friendships built.

3. Pray for more people to step into the worship team ministry. We have a great, solid team but it would be great to have more people serving in this ministry.

4. Please pray for us to become more and more able to speak Spanish, especially our boys so they can build friendships here.

Thank you for praying for our family and ministry here in Oaxaca! We are so blessed to have this covering over our family.

SOUTH AMERICA

Kilgus Family – Trujillo, Peru

It is been quite the year, but God has been so faithful through it all. In January we were able to baptize 13 new believers who had come to faith during the pandemic and quarantine. We also started 6 small groups throughout the city in February so people could have more intimate fellowship, and a place to meet when the government locks things down.
We also started a new semester at CBI Peru with 18 full time students from the USA, Peru, and Venezuela. They are growing and being discipled. We will have our first graduating class in November, and we are praying to see where God is going to lead them into ministry.

Peru has been experiencing lockdowns again, and they have been very difficult because things change every 2 weeks. The government will announce that church can open, but then 2 weeks later declare they must close. We have been closed 4 of the last 8 weeks with the restrictions flip-flopping every two weeks. Please pray for strength and grace as we continue to move forward in the gospel.

God did provide an amazing new facility for CBI Peru. A former resort that holds up to 80 students, and we believe God is going to use it as a hub for missions and church planting. We need your prayer because we planned to move on April 1st, but Peru announced a nationwide lockdown for Easter weekend to avoid gatherings and we wont be able to move.

Also, the government raised gas taxes and all the busses, truckers and land travel agencies have gone on strike. That makes moving complicated, and also make a lot of basic resources scarce as supplies are no longer arriving.

Prayer Requests:
1. Pray for the new believers, pray for the small groups, pray for the Bible Institute students and pray for many more people to believe in Jesus and for many churches to be planted.

2. Also, a special prayer request for my family. We hope to visit the states in June/July, but we need two passports for our children and the embassy has been closed. We need a miracle and an emergency appointment, but we have not been able to get an appointment after about 3 months of effort. Please pray as we need a miracle!

Thank you!

SGWM MAR PRAYER UPDATE

EUROPE

Mitch and Christine Sorensen – Nice, France

Prayer Requests:
1. To be healthy, focused on what the Lord has for us and mainly for the power of the Holy Spirit to convict people deeply of their sins, so they will understand their urgent need of Jesus the Savior. Pray above all for all the elderly people we meet in the streets who receive Gospel tracts. Also for our neighbor Valeri from Romania who has terminal cancer. For his wife Maria.

2. For Eve, whom I met in September in the north of France who is very very busy with work, who just lost her mentor (an African Medium) and was showing interest in knowing Jesus.  I believe there must be a strong spiritual battle in her life after all these years of occult practice.  Pray that she will read the Bible I sent her so she can meet her Savior.

Thank you for ALL your fervent prayers towards France!!!

God bless you,

Yours for the unreached,

NORTH AMERICA

Mike and Erin Thiemann – California, USA

Last month, a prayer request for my son Malachi caused confusion and a bit of drama. The prayer request was a cliff note version of a prayer request we have been sharing since December 2019. On Christmas 2019, Malachi suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI) and was hospitalized in the Pediatric ICU for a few days. As a result of the TBI, he lost his sense of smell, which is a common side effect. The prayer request asked for continued prayer for recovery and praised the Lord for his sense of smell returning. Well, because of COVID-19 and the symptom of loss of smell, many took this to mean that Malachi had COVID and some were upset that we did not quarantine him. So a praise report about recovering from a TBI turned into a COVID conflict. I apologize for the confusion. Nonetheless, please continue to pray for Malachi’s continued recovery and that there would be no “side-effects” due to the TBI.

Prayer Requests:
1. Please pray for the SGWM office as we gear up for a packed summer of missions and ministry. Also, pray for our accounting department. They need some full-time and part-time qualified volunteers.

2. Please pray for our new Administrative Assistant, Maribel, who will be directly assisting me and replacing Hope Douglass after having her baby. Please pray for her training and that the Lord would bless her with the ability to fully grasp everything we do.

3. Pray that God would continue to provide and guide my family through life and ministry.

4. Pray for me as I work towards earning my master’s degree. Pray that the Lord would bring about supporters and scholarships. Pray that the Lord would bless my study time and make it fruitful.

5. Pray for the youth ministry I lead. Pray that the Lord would pour out his Spirit and awaken the affections of our teens towards Him. Pray for our upcoming Israel tour this summer.

6. Pray for our continued financial support as Erin and I have been Stateside missionaries for over 15 years.

Thank you for all your love, prayer and encouragement through this.

We are blessed by you.

God bless you,

3. Pray for Joel in the couple of trips he has planned coming up helping lead a short trip to Mexico for the youth and young adults of the church, as well as an Israel apologetics trip for the youth and young adults of our church this Summer

4. Pray for our missionaries who had many of their plans and vision seemingly dismantled by COVID last year, that the Lord would lead them perfectly into what He has had planned for them from before the foundations of the world.

Thank you for faithfully praying!

Gary and Tina Barrow – Truckee, California

God is so good.

Praise Report:
-God is blessing Calvary Chapel Truckee with just a sweet time of fellowship and communion.

Prayer Requests:
1. Calvary Chapel Truckee has been meeting in our little space, as social distant as possible. Unfortunately, when this place was rented, before Tina and I came, they didn’t know that there is a building code for assembly purposes. This particular space was not built to that code. We have been trying to find another place to rent for the past 2-3 months. The problem is that there are not a lot of places built to lease that would allow for assemblies.

2. We are also near the close of escrow on a property that we have sole. It will allow us to buy a small piece of property in town and build a church there. Ideally we would be in our own place around Christmas 2022, should the Lord tarry.

– Would you please pray that God would provide a place for us to meet. A place that would allow for growth.

– Please pray for the sell of our property, that is would close with no further delays. For a good deal on the price of the property we are looking at buying and for the church building we are looking to build. Pray that God’s hand would be on all of it and it all would glorify the Lord.

– We are in need of a youth leader. Please pray and ask the Lord to bring us a youth leader who is gifted in working with the youth, someone who would reach out to the youth of Truckee and has a heart for missions.

-Please pray that God would bring youth and young families to the church. People we can serve, fellowship with and those who want and need to hear the Word. Pray that God would build His church in Truckee.

– Please pray for our family and our marriage. Pray that we would be wise to the schemes of the enemy and be quick to run to the Lord.

3. Finally, the colleges in SA look like they will take another semester off due to Covid. It seems like it has been so long since the lock down and classes have ceased. Please pray for an end of the pandemic and that the colleges will be able to begin class again. Pray that when the boarders open again, that I (Gary) would be able to return to strengthen and encourage the students and workers. Tim and I had a rip planned right as the boarders closed. My heart is to return as soon as possible.

As always, thank you for your prayer. Please plan on visiting us when you can. We’d love to show you around and have you meet your brothers and sisters in Truckee.

God bless,
Gary and Tina – Email Blog

Mitch and Christine Sorensen – Nice, France

Prayer Requests:
1. We are very thankful for your prayers and encouragements!! Be richly blessed for your help! As we are continuing to distribute Gospel tracts and the Gospel movie cards, one on one with people working at the cash register of different stores, in the streets (mainly the elderly to whom we give the “Good Person” tract) and also tons in mail boxes of big buildings as there are less people in the streets due to the cold weather and the very early daily curfews —–*Please pray they will look at the movie and be touched by the Holy Spirit.

2. French people are still not fond at all with anything that sounds like the Bible, Jesus or Islam. This ministry requires lots and lots of sowing, praying, perseverance, loving, patience.

3. We also are following up some believers to encourage them to grow by  discipline into spending more time personally in the Word. As the restrictions have fallen also on church meetings, many rather not come anymore but look at the services via Zoom. Some have just disappeared.  It has been difficult to do church with a mask on and all the other rules prohibiting contact. So, we have started to meet people one on one to fellowship and pray together, outside of church —*Pray we will have wisdom and be a great blessing to many. Our neighbor, same floor, has been diagnosed with colon cancer. He and his wife do not speak any French (nor English) and they are avoiding contacts with us because of the fear to get Covid. We want to encourage them and bless them. May the Lord inspire us and heal this man!

4. Pray for our health.

5. Pray for our provision

Thank you for your faithful prayers

God bless you,

Yours for the unreached Rob Douglass – Email Blog

Mike and Erin Thiemann – California, USA

Prayer Requests:
1. Please pray for our family during this crazy season. School has started back up and the beginning of the year is always chaotic for Erin and the kids as they develop a new routine.

2. I have restructured the leadership within SGWM and have created three distinct departments – Missionary Sending (US based missionaries that we have sent), International Relations (10/40 Window church planting/nationals), and the Missionary Training (School of Missions and Internship). Pray as we transition and continue to grow.

3. Please pray for the youth ministry I lead. Our group is growing and the teens are doing well. Please pray for all of our leaders that the Lord would anoint them.

4. Over the next 6-7 months, my teaching schedule is increasing exponentially. Please pray that the Lord lengthens my study time and anoints my ability to communicate His Word effectively.

5. Pray for our personal support. Living in the States and on missionary support is a difficult reality. We struggle with it practically as living expenses in Orange County are high. It is also a struggle to convince people that our home office staff is an absolute necessity for the success of our missionaries all over the world.

7. We also had a great response for our 2021 summer youth and young adults Israel apologetic tour. We have 35 signups! I originally booked for 15. So the Lord sent in a LOT more. Please pray for all the administration that goes into organizing a trip like this. Also, pray for no COVID issues.

Thank you for all your love, prayer and encouragement through this.
We are blessed by you.

The 10/40 Window

The 10/40 Window is a rectangular geographic area stretching from North Africa through the Middle East to Asia, covering 68 countries. Two-thirds of the world’s population live within the 10/40 Window.

Three out of every five people in the 10/40 Window have no access to the gospel. According to the Joshua Project, 68.6% of the 10/40 Window’s ethnic groups (5,984) are considered unreached, with a total population of 3.09 billion.

Worker 14 and Family – 1040 Window

Prayer Requests
1. A cold virus hit our house hard, but thankfully not covid! Wife took it the worst as she didn’t get the sleep needed since she was caring for 2 sick boys day and night. Husband stepped up and gave her two days  to catch up on sleep and lay around with baby, so she’s doing much better now! Our little lady was the only one who didn’t get it, likely due to excessively nursing when mom rested! So thankful the virus didn’t last more than a few days and that we have thus far avoided covid, which would do much more harm!

2. We praise the Lord that our menial garden efforts are blossoming. We have some green veggies growing in pots which is a big deal as greens are hard to come by. We’ve also had great success with root veggies and hope to become more self sufficient in basic vegetable harvesting to reduce market trips. Please pray for wisdom and blessing over this small task.

3. We’ve started our neighbor visits this year and are praying for open doors (spiritually and figuratively) and Spirit led conversation as we step out in faith.

4. Pray for my wife as she seeks to build relationships among our neighborhood women and find kids for our children to build friendships with.

5. Pray for husbands relationship with the men and leaders of our community. Pray for Spiritual conversation to surface and for His Spirit to speak through me.

6. Pray for my wife’s language learning that she’ll be able to make time, find an effective way of learning, and grow in her ability to understand and speak.

7. Pray for direction as we plan out our next few months and that the Lord will open doors and provide for the visions that are from Him, and make it clear those things that are not His Will or timing. Pray we would have sensitivity to His leading so we can be effective and fruitful in the works He’s laid before us.

Blessings,
Worker 14 and Family

Yours for the unreached,

Happy New Year!

Thank you for praying!

Struska Family – Rosarito, Mexico

Praise God:
-For the teams that have overcome the difficulties of the Coronavirus quarantine and overcame any fears of traveling and doing ministry here in Mexico in 2020.

Payer Requests:
1. Spring is one of our busiest times of year. Please pray for our spring teams as they plan their upcoming trips while dealing with the obstacles of any Coronavirus or quarantine issues. Pray that the Lord will move the hearts of pastors and church leaders to allow those who are called and those who are willing, to be able to come and serve.

2. We continue to seek the Lord’s wisdom in knowing how to move forward in ministry with our teams during this time of quarantine and social distancing. So far we have given out a lot of food bags and cleaning products, while doing less up close ministry. We request your prayers that we would be able to continue with ministry while doing our part to help ensure the health and safety of both those who come to serve, as well as those we are ministering to.

3. We ask for prayer for the 3rd floor kitchen/dining hall project here at Connections House. We have relied almost solely on donations for this project and have seen a drop in donations this year, which correlates with the drop in ministry – also Coronavirus related. Pray with us that the Lord will provide the funds and materials to get this building operational by March 2021. This will allow us to add more beds and host larger teams, as well as multiple teams at a time.

4. Ron had back surgery 14 months ago, which unfortunately has resulted in very little pain relief. This has been very limiting work-wise. Ron just had an MRI and has a doctor’s appointment on November 20th to look over the results and find out what the next steps may be. Please pray for wisdom for the doctors and that there will be an effective solution.

Thank you so much for your prayers!

God Bless you,

Gary and Tina Barrow – Truckee, California

Praise God
-Our daughter delivered our second grandson November 7. He is a little under weight, but overall, he is healthy and happy. Ashley is doing well also. His name is Florian Knepper. (Florian, Flo for short, is a German name, in case you’re wondering.) God is so good!

-Our new church website is launched, I think it looks really good. We are still adding content, but the basics are there. Check it out. www.cctruckee.com

Prayer Requests
1. Our family is doing well. God has planted us in great group of believers.

2. For anointing, a daily fresh filling of the Holy Spirit, wisdom, discernment, vision and direction as I pastor this church.

3.  We need a youth leader. Pray that God will bring a youth leader to us that is on fire, has a heart for the kids, a vision for outreach and development of the youth group.

4.  We need gifted, Spirit filled worship leaders and musicians.

5.  For the health and protection of the church as we continue to meet in person. We’re not trying to defy and government mandates, my heart is to be obedient to the Lord and provide opportunities to worship, fellowship and study God’s word for the body.

6. We have out grown our little space and are looking for a new place to meet. Please pray that the Lord would lead us to a new facility that would meet our current needs and allow for growth as the Lord adds to the church.

7. Pray for our Saturday “Underground Prayer” meeting. Pray that more people will catch the vision and need for prayer. That people would come out and labor in prayer for our church, for the town of Truckee and the lost around the world.

8. Please pray for the work we are engaged in in the 10/40 window. Pray for relief of Covid and the resumption of classes in the colleges.

Thank you for standing with us in prayer. As you join us in prayer, this ministry becomes as much yours as it is ours. We welcome your partnership.

2. We are starting a monthly Missions Night in our home for the students at Calvary Chapel Bible College Mexico. This month we are discussing Missions in Costs Rica. Two of our graduates planted a church there so we will visit and pray for them online using Whatsap. We will also be having a time of fellowship with traditional desserts from Costa Rica.

3. Leo is joining friends from Florida on a Mission trip to El Salvador during our fall break. Please pray for safety while traveling and while in country. He expects to help with some construction work and a water project with them.

4. Two separate sets of friends have both lost sons recently who were in their early thirties. Please pray for them and their spouses and other family members who are hurting from the loss of their loved ones.

5. We are getting close to mid semester – pray for our students to finish well. We had a baptism last week and seven of our students were baptized. Several mentioned wanting to serve God with all their hearts. It was so encouraging to see their commitment to Him.

Thanks to everyone for your prayers and concern for us and other missionaries. God Bless You.

SGWM OCT PRAYER UPDATE

EUROPE

Brenna  Kulla – Pécs, Hungary

Thank you for taking time to read this and pray. Prayer is so vital and it is a comfort knowing there are people bowing their knee before the Lord on our behalf!

Praise God:
-Praise God for the testimonies of Him working in awesome ways this summer! While being stateside for a few months it has been so incredible to hear about things He is doing in Hungary.

Prayer Requests:
1. Please pray for Lighthouse events, a university outreach that a few students in our church started this summer. Pray for wisdom and vision as they seek God on how to continue in the school year and how to engage with their peers and friends about meaningful subjects, mainly the good news of salvation through faith in Jesus!

2. Personally, I also need prayer for wisdom and clarity. I pray that I may grow in the knowledge of Him and delight in Him even as I wait on Him regarding decisions about the future.

Thank you for taking time to pray and seek God in behalf of His kingdom work in Hungary!

Love in Christ,
Brenna –  Email Blog

S.S. – Europe

Prayer Requests:
1. I hope you can pray for an Iranian friend who has severe health difficulties. He can’t move enough due to a work injurie which resulted in his absence from the Bible study and fellowship with us. I am worry also for his mental state because of this long isolation. May God can help in creating ways to contact him more or even heal him completely.

2. I am trying to connect a German family with a Syrian single mom, who has some disablement but still has to take care of her kid. I hope you could pray that this connection works and be helpful for her in practical way. She has some trust issues and fear of connecting to Christians because of her religion.

3. I hope you can pray for me to find new ministry opportunities. Since the beginning of Covid-19 I feel I am doing very little and every new thing I try ends up not working out. The restrictions are making everything complicated add to people fear of social contact. I am glad we still have Church service and Bible study groups but other things are very limited. I hope with your prayers that God would give me patience or lead me to more involvement where I feel I am using most of my time in His service. All blessings.

Thank you very much for praying for me.

Have a blessed week.

Yours for the unreached,
Rob Douglass – Email Blog

NORTH AMERICA

4. It has been on my heart for a number of years, but due to lack of time, I haven’t been able to accomplish the goal of writing yet. But with the new restructuring of SGWM and nearing the end of my M.Div program, I am blessed with more time. Pray that the Lord increases my talents and provides a few editors.

5. Pray for our personal support. Living in the States and on missionary support is a difficult reality. We struggle with it practically as living expenses in Orange County are high. It is also a struggle to convince people that our home office staff is an absolute necessity for the success of our missionaries all over the world.

6. We had a great response for our youth Mexico trip in November. We completely filled up the trip. So I’ll be leading a group of 30 youth and young adults to Mexico in November. Please pray for this trip.

7. We also had a great response for our 2021 summer youth and young adults Israel apologetic tour. We have 26 signups! I originally booked for 15. So the Lord sent in a LOT more. Please pray for all the administration that goes into organizing a trip like this. Also, pray for no COVID issues.

Thank you for praying!

God bless you,
