Weekly Prayer 06/20/17-06/27/17

Jenna Pepin – Culiacán, Mexico
-A very big thank you to everyone who prays for us each week.  This week is no exception. Life is full and crazy here, and we appreciate your continued prayers.

Please Pray:
1. Please pray for three major events we have going on at our church this week.  On Friday night, our women’s ministry will be having its monthly outreach event, a huge event designed to reach unchurched women, and we hope to reach many with the gospel this night.  Saturday afternoon is our monthly youth meeting.  Please pray that many new youth come, that many lives are touched for the Lord.  Also this weekend, we begin our huge evangelistic push to reach out to every home in the community surrounding our church.  Please pray that God’s hand is upon all of these events and all of the people who will be leading them and participating in them.

2. I also ask for your prayers for me personally as I deal with a broken toe.  Please pray that God would heal it quickly, so I can get back up to full speed and keep up with all of the ministry going on here

God bless you all, and thank you for your prayers.

James Nyika and Fellow Missionaries – S. Sudan

We have been unsuccessful in purchasing the medicine locally to combat this Cholera outbreak in South Sudan. As a result of the civil war there are very little reserves available. Our medical missionaries have been able to ingeniously create homemade rehydration treatments and are administering them to those who would certainly die without it.

All of the children in our program, our missionary teachers and parents have not been affected by this crisis. If we feel that the kids and the missionaries are at risk of being exposed we have an evacuation procedure in place.

Our missionaries in Kenya are still working tirelessly to get the necessary medication to the medical clinic in South Sudan.

God has established this ministry for such a time as this.

Please Pray:
1. Please continue to pray for the safety of our missionaries that are risking their lives to bring hope and healing in Jesus’ name to these desperate people.

2. Please continue to pray that our children and national missionaries will remain safe.

Thank you to those who have financially donated to alleviate this crisis.

Thank you for praying. I will keep you updated.

Jenna Pepin – Culiacán, Mexico
Please Pray:
Thank you for your prayers for my crazy week last week.  Saturday’s events in La Invasion went wonderfully!  We had two new volunteers go with us (they’re now hopelessly hooked!) and two moms got saved!  That evening’s mission’s event also went very well.  We got a lot of new faces, and everyone enjoyed the event.  Looking forward to planning our first events…

1.This week, there are several things you can pray for.  First, pray for the formation of the mission’s leadership team.  Hopefully, we will be able to have our first planning meeting in the next week or two.

2. Also this week, I will be starting a Celebrate Recovery style Bible study with a few ladies from my church!  YEAH!!!  Please pray that this study will go well, that these women will find their freedom in Christ, and that this study will open the door to bring Celebrate Recovery into Culiacan!

3. Next, please pray for our church family as we mourn the loss of Olya, our Ukrainian piano player.  After several days in the hospital in Mexico City, she was released, and then tragically died that night of a low blood sugar crisis.  We will be holding a memorial service for her this week, but her family and our friends in Mexico City are still steeped in paperwork, trying to make arrangements to have her remains sent back to the Ukraine with her family.  Please pray for all involved.

4. Finally, please pray for my health.  I will be seeking medical attention this week and appreciate your prayers that I will be able to get appointments quickly with each of the specialists I need.

Thank you for your continued prayers as our ministry begins to blossom and grow here in Culiacan!

Weekly Prayer 05/30/17-06/06/17

Brad and Melissa – Amazon Jungle, Brazil

-Praise the Lord for your faithful prayers and support!

Please Pray:
1. Our latest Village trip was spectacular!  We shared the story of the Bible and ended with the Gospel with 25 new indigenous and their desires are to know more and study the Word and plant a church in their village.

2. Let’s pray together for them and for these things too!

3. Jardim Tropical.  Please pray for the Christian leadership there, the same who we teach leadership classes to on Saturdays.  They started a Saturday Kid’s club while I was in the village over the last 3 weeks, which is awesome!  We are still raising support to help build a church building for them.  Our weekly outreaches are going great!

4. The Apurina Indians whom we minister to.

5. Our eldest children Junior and Andrea, who both live in the U.S. now.

6. Please pray for the upcoming 2 months for us.  We have a group coming down in July and we have an individual coming down in June.  It is a busy time for us.

Thank you and God bless you,

Jenna Pepin – Culiacán, Mexico

-Thank you for your continued prayers.  Angela is at home and doing well now, and it looks like a permanent home has been found for Julian, Junior, and their siblings.

Please Pray:
1. This Saturday will be the first church-wide missions meeting, a meeting that I will be responsible for.  I appreciate your prayers as I prepare for this meeting and that it will be well-attended and well-received.  In addition to sharing a missions-based devotional, I will be casting the vision for our missions/evangelism ministry, sharing about our project in La Invasion, summarizing everything we learned in the missions conference and presenting a training workshop on how to share your testimony and witness to people.

2. Also this week, I have a very special assignment to complete that could drastically affect the future of my ministry here in Culiacan.  Pray that God gives me the wisdom and the right words to complete this assignment in a way that will both honor God and advance His recovery ministry here in this city.

3. Other prayer needs include Olya, a Ukrainian girl on our worship team who fell very ill while travelling and is hospitalized in Mexico City, the young man who had a nervous breakdown last week, and this Saturday’s events in La Invasion.

Thank you for your prayers!  To God be all the glory!

Weekly Prayer 05/23/17-05/30/17

Chris and Rachel Arisita – Rosarito, Mexico

-We praise and thank God so much for the healthy delivery of our baby boy, Jesse. God has been so good to us in providing all the finances needed for the delivery and hospital stay. He never stops amazing us and always uses these times to grow our faith in Him.

– We praise and thank God so much for the healthy delivery of our baby boy, Jesse. God has been so good to us in providing all the finances needed for the delivery and hospital stay. He never stops amazing us and always uses these times to grow our faith in Him.

– We praise God for continuing to answer our prayers of raising up people in the church to serve the Lord. This past Sunday we prayed for 2 young men, Danny and Johnathan. They will be serving as deacons at Palabra Viva.

– We thank God for bringing new faces to Palabra Viva and continue to pray for more people to come and grow in the Lord.

– This past Thursday we finished up Pastoral Epistles in the School of Ministry. During the last class, the students shared how much God had spoken to them through the text and are excited for the next class to begin on June 8th.

Please Pray:
1. Please keep Palabra Viva in prayer as a team from The Father’s House church will be here from San Marcos, California at the end of the month. They will be partnering with us to help meet some of the church’s physical and spiritual needs.

2. One of the things that this mission team will be helping us with is a 2 day VBS for the kids of the community. Reaching out to the community is something God has placed on our hearts so we’re really excited for this event to take place.

3. Last month we began our first English Service on Sunday mornings. God placed this on our hearts as we saw and heard of ex-pats who do not have a place to worship and hear the word in English. Please pray that God would use this service to bless and reach out to a different group people.

Thank you for faithfully praying for us.

God bless!

Pastor P.M. and V.M. –  India
Thank you  for your continued prayers!

Please Pray:

Jenna Pepin – Culiacán, Mexico
-After a wonderful mission trip to the Missions Conference in Mazatlan this weekend, it’s off to new adventures as the new Missions Coordinator for Capilla Calvario Culiacan.  In spite of all the new challenges facing me this week, the majority of my prayer requests have to do with others.

Please Pray:
1. Angela, a 3 year old who suffered severe food poisoning two weeks ago is still in and out of intensive care.  Her heart and liver simply do not want to return to normal function.  Please pray for her recovery and for the salvation and grieving process of the family.  (Angela’s 6 year old sister did not survive the food poisoning.)

2. Junior and Julian are two boys from our Breakfast Club in La Invasion.  Their mom died yesterday from complications after being shot this past weekend.  They and their older brother and sister have no dad, and arrangements have still not been made for their care.  We praise God that through the ministrations of our group, both older siblings accepted Christ at the funeral last night, but they are all grieving deeply.

3. We also have a young man in our church who was hospitalized today with a nervous breakdown, a woman who was kicked out of her home, and many marriages on the brink of divorce.  Please pray for our church family – that God would lay His healing hand on all in need.

4. Pray for me this week as I begin to take on my new administrative and ministry tasks, and as I continue counseling with 3 ladies in desperate need of the Lord’s healing and comfort.

The needs are many and great this week, but the supplier of those needs is MUCH greater.  Thank you for lifting us up and putting us in His hands this week.

Thank you for praying for us,

Romeo and Jessica  Buescher – Cajamarca, Peru
Please pray alongside of us as we go through the ups and downs of living this life without our son Israel, who passed away during his nap in February at only eight months old. We all have our really hard days mixed in with truly trusting the Lord’s timing both for Israel’s life, and his death.

Please Pray:
1. Pray that I (Jessica) won’t be afraid of having more babies due to fear of losing them, and that I will be able to start sleeping through the night again. As I have been waking all through the night thinking that my other children have died.

2. Please also pray for the remainder of our support to come in so that we can get back to Peru by the summer. That we would run with endurance and be bolder in asking people to partner with us.

3. Pray for the Bible college as it is in a time when staff are transitioning into and out of roles. That there will be a smooth transition for all.

Thank you for coming alongside of us in prayer during this time of many major transitions in our lives.

-Thanks and praise for the pleasant vacation I had in Malaysia, to connect with a church body there, and for the divine appointments I had to fellowship, and to share the gospel.  Please pray that God continues to minister to those that I shared with and that the holy spirit will bring an urgency to follow Jesus.

Jenna Pepin – Culiacán, Mexico

Please Pray:
1. God is alive and very active here in Culiacan!  Last Friday, we hosted a mission team from Ensenada that put on a free concert for the city of Culiacan.  I don’t have exact numbers, but I know that many people were saved that night.  This Saturday, we had a women’s breakfast/outreach with over 70 women in attendance (only 30 from our church!).  Nearly a dozen of them received Christ after hearing my testimony and the message that followed.  At our Sunday service, several more people were saved.  Please pray for all of these new believers, and that God would continue to grow our family here at Calvary Chapel Culiacan.

2. Today, we as a church body supported one of our sisters at the funeral of her son, murdered yesterday for his association with drug cartels.  Please pray with for Chuyita and her family as they mourn this horrendous loss.  While at the funeral, we received word that Raquel, another sister in our church, lost a young cousin this morning to food poisoning, and that the girl’s mother and sister are in serious condition in the hospital for the same.

3. This week, our church is participating in a missions conference in Mazatlan, a neighboring city, and I have been asked to head our church’s missions/evangelism ministry.  Please pray for my talks with Pastor Hugo this week as we organize this new ministry, and for the conference in Mazatlan and all involved there.

Thank you and God bless you!

Bond, Heather and Breanna Gaona – Nepal

-Praise God Bond returned safely to Nepal and Breanna’s rash has completely gone away.

Please Pray:
1. Pray for the last few days this spring in Nepal, that we would accomplish all we need to and that we would finish well.

2. Pray for the medical outreach that will take place this Wednesday with a visiting short-term team from the east coast. Pray that many would come, been seen and hear the good news. Pray for all of the details and logistics to go smoothly as this was unplanned until the last minute.

3. Pray for us as we fly home on the night of May 3rd and arrive on the 4th. Pray Breanna would be well behaved and that none of us would get sick, which seems to have been the case on our past few flights home.

4. Pray for Bond as he teaches at CC Saving Grace on Sunday, May 7th. Pray for a quick recovery from jet lag. Pray that the Lord would give him a message for the church.

Miller Family – Amazon Jungle, Brazil

Please Pray:
1. Our next Indian Village trip, May 3-21, 2017.  We are going into the village we visited two years ago in which the chief and his son repented and received Christ Jesus as their Savior.  They have invited us back to do a Bible Conference.  They have invited 5 other Villages.  Many of these people have never heard the Gospel before and because we are taking our disciples from the village we work in, they will be able to hear the Gospel in their own native tongue.

2. Please pray for the people of Jardim Tropical here in the city of Manaus, where we live.  Our weekly Leadership training is going well there, along with the weekly children’s outreach.  Please pray as this is a very poor area which frequently floods and the people constantly have physical needs.  We are doing our best to provide the spiritual food, and secondarily, helping with the physical, which includes clothing, diapers, house maintenance, etc.

3. Please pray for our eldest children who have moved back to the U.S. and are treading the road of trials to become independent.  It is rougher for them as we are here in Brazil and do not have the ability to be there when they need us.  Please pray that the local Christians around them see this as an opportunity to share the love of the “real” family, as we are one in Christ.

Thank you for your prayers!

God bless you all,

Brenten and Lena Powers – Pacific Grove, California

-Praise God for a fruitful local outreach at a festival in Pacific Grove, California in April. LETSGO team gave out a few hundreds of tracts with free watermelon slices and invitations to Lighthouse Fellowship. Three young men surrendered to Jesus.

Please Pray:
1. Please pray for Brenten as he helps chaplain launch a new outreach to military studying various languages on the presidio of Monterey starting May 5th. This bi-monthly event is called Areopagus as in Acts 17 when Paul seeks to reach  a pluralistic society with his testimony of “the unknown God”, logic and the news of Jesus and the resurrection. Pray for wisdom, love and grace as we seek to evangelize without proselytizing, encourage critical thinking about world views and relate our testimonies about Jesus to a new generation who are preparing to serve around the world.

2. Please pray for the Powers family for the next 4 weeks as we will be visiting different churches, connecting with multiple Calvary fellowships in our area. Pray for opportunities to share the vision for LETSGO so we may bless more churches and equip more believers to spread the gospel in the Monterey Bay Area where it is desperately needed.

Thank you for you prayers!

Bond, Heather and Breanna Gaona – Nepal

-Praise God for a wonderful week of hosting pastors from all over Nepal at our campus. It was great to see those who are partnered with us and also our past graduates who are also serving the Lord in various regions.

Please Pray:
1. Pray for the time with each of the Promise Child girls as we do updates for sponsors this week. Pray for clear communication and that Heather would be able to effectively minister to each of them one on one as the Lord leads.

2. Pray for all those who heard the Gospel at both the student outreach trip and through the Resurrection weekend outreach services. Pray that they would begin to be part of a fellowship and learn the Word to know Jesus personally.

3. Pray for our remaining weeks in Nepal to be fruitful and that we would finish strong.

4. Pray for Breanna who has been waking up at night screaming. She seems fine physically, but we ask you would pray against any bad dreams or other things that maybe bothering her at night as she sleeps.

5. Pray for protection against stomach bugs. Bond and Heather have both had many stomach issues over the past month.

Miller Family – Amazon Jungle, Brazil

Please Pray:
1. Augustinho, Lucilene and their son Esmael.  Esmael is in the pediatrics hospital as of today, 4/19/2017 undergoing treatment for severe pnuemonia.  He arrived there 8 days ago.  He is improving, but they are keeping him there while he is taking antibiotics.  He is 13 months old and had surgery 6 months ago to have a colostomy bag done.  He was to have the bag removed and his intestines connected again this month, but now must wait until he is better.

2. Our next village trip on May 3, 2017.  On this trip we will hold the first Apurina Bible Conference at a new village to us and their will be 5-7 other villages invited.  Many of these have not heard the Gospel clearly before and are involved in some type of idol or animistic worship/belief.  Pray specifically for our disciples who will be preaching and giving testimonies, Makao, Oscar, Valdicis, Analucia, Raimunda.

3. Please pray for our family as we have all been struggling with flu type issues for the past week.  These things came on top of the asthma reactions we had from inviting a cat into our home for 4 days to help with the mouse/rat problems.  I know, but these are real issues, we just don’t normally talk about the rats, cockroaches, mosquitos or other critters.

4. Please pray for the men of Jardim Tropical and our leadership meetings.  Also pray for the construction of the new church which has been slowed down because of lack of finances.

5. Please pray for our homeschool classes, our children, and us.  Those who do this will know what kind of prayers are needed.

Thank you for praying  with us over these things.  May the Lord bless you and keep you, making His face to shine upon you.

God be with you all as we all anxiously await His return,

Brad and Melissa and family ~ Email:  millerstobrazil@yahoo.com  Blog: https://millerstobrazil.com/

Marc and Linda McSweeny – Frankfurt, Germany

Please Pray:

1. The Lord provided a house for us! We never expected it to come so soon. Within two weeks of first seeing the listing in the internet, we had already secured the financing and got the confirmation that we can buy the house. It was built in 1933 so we had to do just about everything to it. We were first able to do the renovations in December and our moving date was set for late February. We are now living just outside the city of Frankfurt and we are no longer living in the same house as the church. Please pray for the adjustment for us as a family and for the church. There is now a more distinct separation between my home life and the church. That has good and bad sides to it.

2. We will need a new location for the church soon. Since moving out, we have lost a place to have the children’s ministry. We had planned on using a room we rented in the basement for that purpose, but the owner has explicitly forbade us from using it for that purpose. We sense they are trying to force us out. Anyway, we have to be really creative with our children’s ministry, and we will need a place for them soon. Please pray for wisdom and for the Lord’s will to be done. There are many open questions like where do we go, when, how, etc.

3. I have been battling some health issues, migraines being one of them. They are progressively more severe and frequent. Lately they have been coming on Sundays and hindering me from being able to teach. Please pray for healing since it is beginning to affect my ability to do ministry.

4. Please pray for a young lady in the church who was traumatized a few years back. The trauma therapy does not seem to be working as she had hoped and her condition sometimes makes it difficult for her to come to church. She is very discouraged by her inability to lead a “normal” life. Please pray for her healing and deliverance.

Thanks for your prayers and support!
