December 2018 Prayer Requests

EUROPE

S.S. – Europe

Prayer Requests:
1. In my last prayer requests I mentioned a Syrian family who is trying to get their 18 years old daughter to join them in Germany. Unfortunately they received a very firm rejection and they have to deal with the fact of living without seeing their daughter till no one knows. I hope you can pray for them to have comfort in that from the Lord, and for all the Syrian Families that are separated because of the war, that God comfort them and help them through.

The Church asylum family are presenting their case in the German court at 23th November. After that the decision will need sometime to be taken. Meanwhile the Church found them a small flat, and two jobs (full time for the Husband and part time for his wife). Once they get their approval they can move to their own place and start working. I hope you can pray that their asylum get accepted and that they could get back to normal life and forget about this difficult time they lived. Since 28 August till now Germany is accepting new refugees wave. The Syrian ones are coming directly from Syria, where they have been in the war for the last 7 years. My encounter with some of them was a sad one. They are affected a lot by the war and most of them are still carrying their war habits. Please pray for me to have wisdom in knowing how to approach them and help them, and pray for them that God will give them peace and safety.

I am really thankful for your prayers . They are much needed.

God bless you and thank you again.

Kindly,

HisKids – Joe and Lisa Horner – S. Sudan, Uganda and Haiti

Prayer Requests:
This has been a difficult month for the HisKids team.  We have had ups and downs.  Some of you might know that we have been trying to save a young boy named Jean in Haiti.  He is dying because  he has a problem with his heart.  He needs surgery immediately.  I put my hand on his chest in October and his heart was beating like he just ran a mile and his heart was so enlarged it was thumping my hand every time it took a beat.  His surgery has been paid for and we hope will take place in the Cayman Islands.  We just have to get him to the Dominican Republic (DR) to get a heart cath. to make sure he can survive the surgery.  Donors from Church Project and Hiskids stepped up to the plate, and we raised $2000; thank you. Our team, including New Life Mission was ready to leave.  Then riots erupted in Haiti, and the DR closed the boarder until Dec  3rd. Jean’s life is back on hold.

Many of you might be surprised by my outlook on Jean’s life.  I take it personally.  God taught me when I lived in the refugee camp in Uganda that any life is as valuable as my child’s life, and I should act with the same sense of urgency as I would if my child’s life was on the line.  Yes, that emotion is difficult to manage.  I cry a lot.  Even now. My heart breaks for Jean and his family.

It is with this heart that I am asking for you to pray for Jean.  Pray that we can save his life.  Thank you.

Thank you for faithfully praying for us!

The doctor decided to order another echocardiogram along with an angiogram. Please pray that the doctor would have wisdom to know why she has been experiencing the pain and discomfort. Pray that the Lord would heal her either miraculously or through the doctors and medication. Either way is fine with us.

Prayer Requests:
1. I need prayer for physical healing. I have so many things going on right now, a lot of arthritis under my right kneecap due to major surgery from back in 1985. I would love a knee replacement but I think I’m too young! I don’t want to take pills! I also have food issues, I just don’t feel well most of the time, with heavy fatigue and feet pain!

2. For leadership skills that I so lack! I need WISDOM from the Lord! I just want to serve him, but it can be so difficult with so many different personalities and so forth. Just wish that we can all love everyone where they are at in their walk, not where they should be, as Jesus does with us!

3. For an explosion of the Holy Spirit here at CC Pedregales and for growth in our church with more adults and children attending and giving their lives over to Jesus without reserve, or embarrassment of what others may think.

God bless you

Thank you for your prayers for me and the children and people of Tijuana!

Darryl and Kayo Record – Cambodia

Thank you so much for your prayers.  God has been giving us amazing breakthroughs and carrying us through difficult trials here in Cambodia.

Praise Report:
-Praising God for Darryl’s rapid recovery from severe back pain related to scoliosis and a possible injury from carrying a 5 gallon drinking water tank.  God provided a skilled physiotherapist from Germany in addition to the orthopedic doctor from Thailand.  Darryl has been able to return to normal activities in less than three weeks.  He continues to do stretching and strengthening exercises.  Please pray for the finances needed to offset our nearly $1,000 in medical bills in October and November ($750 of which will not be covered by insurance and the rest, we are not sure about).

-Praising God for the opportunity to run into Mr. Savun, Darryl’s former supervisor at the Royal University of Law and Economics (RULE) from 2000-2003 and 2007-2009 at a local restaurant. Darryl had lost contact with Mr. Savun, and most of his other former co-workers at RULE in 2012 when his phone was stolen.  Darryl and two other Christian men from the USA were able to talk to Savun and his brother (a retired aircraft engineer) about the evidence for God and Creation, especially God and creation.  Darryl was able to share a copy of his book, Christianity: Reasons for Faith (the only bilingual English/Cambodian apologetics book ever written) and two issues of Light Times Magazine, in which Darryl had written an article on the evidence for the resurrection of Jesus Christ and on scientific facts in the Bible.  Darryl plans to return to visit RULE again on November 26 and will meet more administrators and will share his book with them.

-Praising God for the opportunity for Darryl to share Christian Apologetics materials with pastors and church leaders in/from Pakistan and China. Please pray that these materials will be contextualized to the target cultures, translated into the target languages, and distributed broadly, despite government opposition.  Darryl has also been able to share a lot of English and Cambodian language materials with missionaries and pastors in Cambodia.

Prayer Requests:
1. Please pray for strength and wisdom for Kayo as she continues to balance the needs of her Japanese Life Group Ministry, in which she is helping to coordinate counseling and care (both in Cambodia and in Japan) for a Japanese Christian family, in which the husband, a factory manager, had a nervous breakdown and had to return to Japan for care after quitting his job. The wife and two young children are here in Cambodia until they can find a place to live, schooling, and employment for the wife back in Japan. Kayo is also very active in Precious Women Ministry, which evangelizes and retrains Cambodian women who work in nightclubs and are vulnerable to sexual exploitation to find Christ and new careers.  Kayo is also busy with the international church worship team and an outreach Christmas choir.

2. Please pray for our financial needs. We praise God that we are no longer in an urgent financial emergency, due to the medical bills for Darryl’s mom who passed away the end of September, however, we do have some significant financial needs which make our ministries more vulnerable, especially during a season when our ministries are really taking off. For more information please read the final section of our latest blog at http://sgwm.com/record/2018/11/13/a-season-of-breakthroughs-with-tribulation-intense-blessings-and-pain/

Thanks for praying!

S.S. – Europe

Praise Report:
-I am so thankful for your prayers. God has been answering many prayers last month and especially those ones concerning the youth Bible study with the international and German students, and my lack the energy that is needed to do the things I am doing.

Prayer Requests:
1. This month I wish you could please pray for the Syrian refugees as Germany is taking new restricting procedure that makes their life here difficult. Since 2016 the authorities are only giving many of them a one year protection, which prevents them from bringing their kids or spouses that are still in Syria. We have in our Church two families are suffering that: a mom that can’t bring her 3 years old girl, and a family that can’t bring their 18 years old daughter (she just turned 18 years old and because of that she can’t be accepted to join her parents).

2. Please pray for the gospel to be preached openly with Muslim refugees, and that the Churches here in Germany have wisdom on how to reach out to them and bring the gospel closer to their understanding. And for me that I have grace and guidance from the Lord whenever I talk to them in my daily contact.

3. Lastly I wish you could pray for my health. I have been having shoulder pain since a year, and it is only getting worst. I did physiotherapy and gymnastic but it keeps coming back again. Enduring the pain can be done with pain killers until it starts to hinder my daily activities when it causes dizziness and insomnia. Please pray that God give me wisdom in knowing what can I do.

Matthew and Noelle Harris – Gulu, Uganda

Praise Reports:

Thank you all so much for the investment into our family’s life through prayer!

Praise Reports:
– God helped our class of pastors to see Christ as the substance and fulfiller of the law as they studied through Leviticus this month.

– God has opened up the opportunity to disciple a young man, Daniel, who works with our ministry.

Prayer Requests:
1. That God would continue to give us wisdom for teaching, discipling, and living in a foreign culture; and strength for this ongoing task.

2. That God would enable Daniel to understand the Bible as he walks through it with Matt, and that Matt would be sensitive to the Spirit’s leading concerning their time together.

3. Please pray for our children as we train and discipline them. In any culture this can be difficult, but the lack of appropriate discipline in the community makes it uniquely hard to teach our kids right from wrong. Pray for grace for us too, as we parent them.

Thank you for your faithful prayers!

In Christ,
Matt, Noelle, Emma and Madeline – Email     Blog

HisKids – Joe and Lisa Horner – S. Sudan, Uganda and Haiti

Prayer Requests:
Hiskids was able to respond the trifecta of tragedy in Haiti recently. On Oct 6th Port de Paix Haiti was struck by a 5.9 earthquake. Less than 24 hours later the same area was hit with another 5.2 quake. The normal response to this is for the people to go outside and sleep on the streets. The problem was that what would be hurricane Michael was blowing through the area leaving the people cold, wet and fearing for their lives. Our HisKids donors stepped up to the plate and gave over $12,000 and a team was went to the area to help. Through this effort we are rebuilding homes and mobilizing the church in the process. As a result, we are now building relationships to reach this area of Northern Haiti with the gospel. We hope to plant churches as a result. Please continue to pray for us as we see God’s hand moving in this country. We feel like we are just trying to keep up with Him.

Thank you for faithfully praying for us!

Prayer Requests:

God bless

Thank you for your prayers for me and the children and people of Tijuana

Darryl and Kayo Record – Cambodia

1. Thank you for your prayers. God is moving in Cambodia and in our ministries here. Last month we asked for prayer regarding a huge emergency need for monthly financial support. We praise God that our financial situation is turning around. Please continue to pray that God will raise up a larger new generation of regular financial partners who will be able to offset the retirement and heavenly graduations of our senders who are in their sunset years.

2. Please pray for Kayo’s Japanese Life Group Ministry. A Japanese Christian factory manager and his family have been going through a very difficult time as the result of the recent onset of his serious mental illness. He has lost his job and must return to Japan for additional treatment. Kayo and two other Japanese couples have been caring for this family, including the wife and two children, one of which attends Benjamin’s Christian school. We have arranged for the wife and two young children to rent a small apartment in our building for a month while she sells and ships her belongings and makes arrangements to return to Japan.

3. Please pray for Darryl’s www.internationalfishers.com/khmer video ministry. Mek, the professional narrator who has been volunteering to record Darryl’s evangelistic-apologetics video scripts int he Cambodian language has gotten very busy with work and his wife has just had their second baby so it is impossible for him to find enough “quiet time” at home to make any recordings for a while. Darryl has partnered, with two younger Cambodians who have a ministry called True Media to record his video scripts. Darryl has about 4 scripts already translated and the several outlines for future scripts already researched. In the meantime, he is posting Cambodian language blog posts on and developing the International Fishers website and social media pages.

4. Please pray for Darryl’s dad. Darryl’s mom passed away the end of September and her funeral was October 1. Please pray for Darryl’s dad to have wisdom, health, joy, and strength as he begins this new chapter of life after 59 years of marriage.

5. Please pray for God to open and close the doors for Darryl to minister to people in addition to the Cambodians, which are his main focus. God has been opening doors for Darryl to encourage and equip Chinese, Pakistani, Indian, Canadian, and Japanese Christians especially in the areas of apologetics and evangelism. New opportunities are developing. Please pray for wisdom, strength, and grace.

Thanks for your prayers. May God bless and strengthen you as you reach out to your own mission-field, whether it be across the breakfast table, across the street, or around the world.

S.S. – Europe

Prayer Requests:
1. I wish you could pray for our Persian Bible study as it will be changed now into Arabic-Persian Bible study where we have German, Arabic and Persian discussions at the same time. That God may give us wisdom and understanding of His Word, and that I can translate (in Arabic if needed) and communicate the right meaning even when it is confusing.

2. Our youth group is also facing many difficulties especially with the beginning of the new semester and the coming of new students. We have many students who can only speak English but not German and many others who can only German. Our Bible study was done so far in German and we don’t want to split into two group. The student work in my city is essential since it is a student city with international environment and we have refugees also in our youth group. We will be meeting and deciding in the coming two week on how to set up a whole new structure for the group meetings, activities and Bible study. I wish that you could pray for wisdom and guidance and that we would come to some setting that serves everybody in the best way.

3. Lastly I hope you can pray for me personally.  I have been so tired lately and can’t find enough energy to take care of all the things that I have to do. I feel time is so short and the day passes by before I finish half of what I should do. Things are billing up and I need wisdom in knowing when and where to get involved. There are many practical things that the refugees I serve need but those things take a lot of my time and strength. Please pray that God show me what to do and give me rest.

And thank you again.

God bless you.

Kindly.

We are seeing God move in a powerful way in Haiti.  Last week we did 3 mobile medical clinics and did outreach with the community.  It felt like God was directing our every step.  Hiskids purchased 450 packs of fortified peanut butter.  For months I was asking God how to get more protein in my kids in Haiti.  God gave me the answer.  It’s called Mamba.  This peanut butter will save lives.  Another thing I have been praying about is what to do with my widows.  They have no way to provide for themselves.  We need to expand Hiskids to other widows and orphans, but we can’t do that if the current widows are still in need.  God gave me the answer.  While in Haiti, I hired a young man (Justin’s brother) to start our agriculture project.  Yes, we are in the chicken business.  Without going into detail, this will be a way to help widows become self-sufficient. We also plan on giving each widow a calf.  They raise it.  Give use 2 calves back and the cow is their’s.

2. I met with a great Haitian doctor (Dr. Saint) who is helping Hiskids.  We have 3 medical situations right now; 1. Jenny’s cyst. 2. A boy who has teeth growing through the roof of his mouth. 3. A church leader who has a huge tumor on his hand. If you would like to help with the cost go here: https://hiskids.com/donations/onetime/

3. We are trying to plant 3 new churches in Haiti.  I met with the pastors of these churches to encourage them.  They have asked for Hiskids to help them.

4. Please pray for Hiskids to help more kids.  HisKids continues to grow in helping the helpless, hopeless and hurting.  We have continual needs in other communities that go unmet.

Thank you for faithfully praying for us!

Deanna Jevas – Tijuana, Mexico

God bless

Thank you for your prayers for me and the children and people of Tijuana!

Serving Jesus always,

Aaron and Jackie  Mosley – Oaxaca, Mexico

Prayer Requests:
1. Please pray for our children as they are having a hard time transitioning into the local  school. Their teachers only speak Spanish and it has been hard for them.

2. Please pray for Aaron and I to have the wisdom and the strength to daily encourage and support our children through the transition.

3. Please pray for us as we are in school daily learning the language. It has been hard to balance homework with the need to be emotionally supporting our family after school. Our desire is to learn the language and learn it well.

4. Pray for us to build relationships within the community. Relationships where we would be able to show the love of Christ and share the gospel as well as to learn the culture and have opportunities to practice our language skills.

5. We also need clear vision and direction from the Lord on what He would have for us after language school. We have a plan but want to make sure that our plan is His plan!

Thank you for your continued prayers for our family.

Gary and Tina Barrow – Victorville, California

Prayer Requests:
It’s been hard enough these nearly two years since we have been back in the states, living so far away from friends and family. We long for a church family where we can be part of mid week studies, men’s and women’s studies and enjoying fellowship with brothers and sisters. Pray that the Lord would do something unexpected for us. Ps 90:13b-17 is our prayer request.

“…have compassion on Your servants.
Oh, satisfy us early with Your mercy,
That we may rejoice and be glad all our days!
Make us glad according to the days in which You have afflicted us,
The years in which we have seen evil.
Let Your work appear to Your servants,
And Your glory to their children.
And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us,
And establish the work of our hands for us;
Yes, establish the work of our hands.”

Lord, would You open doors for us, show us which way we should go?

Lord, would You rain down upon us Your mercy and compassion?

Would You rejoice our hearts and souls and make us glad?

Would You restore to us fellowship and friendship in the church family?

Would You show us where and how You would have us serve You, where we fit in the body?

Would You show us what You are doing and show us Your glory?

Would You establish us Lord, give us a home?

Also, I am beginning to contact and schedule teachers for the next semester at two of the Bible Colleges in South Asia. Please ask the Lord to have His hand on it. That I would get the right teachers teaching the right classes and the students would be strengthened in the faith and prepared for the work of the ministry.

Thank you for you prayers.

God bless,
Gary and Tina Barrow – Email  Blog

S.B and A. B. – South Asia

Praise the LORD!
-My family received their 6 month visas, and it was a much smoother process than the previous time we applied.

-y family applied for their permanent residency cards! It has taken three tries and ten months but their applications have been accepted and are being processed.

-My green card process for the US is 85% complete and we will be setting an interview date this month! It has been a year since we started this process and we are so grateful to the Lord for bringing us this far.

-Praise the Lord for His exceedingly great and miraculous provision. To attain all these documents and move forward with processing we needed around $1000, and somehow the Lord made a way and we always had enough when we pulled money from the ATM. Our God is a God of miracles!

Prayer Requests:
1. Please pray for my wife and two sons to receive their permanent residency cards quickly and with no complications. We were told the process could take three months or more but we are praying it will be completed within a month.

2. Please pray for my green card process to finish quickly and for our interview to be set within this months time frame. We are asking the Lord if it is His will, that we could come to the States as a family by November.

3. Please pray for our family’s health and safety as we do a lot of traveling by car. Long journeys are difficult on everyone, especially two small babies.

Darryl and Kayo Record – Cambodia

Thanks for your faithful prayers.  Our ministries in Cambodia are accelerating.  Darryl has been able to increase the speed of apologetics/evangelistic video production by three or four times.  God has provided multiple Cambodian Christians to volunteer (or for minimal pay) to translate the scripts into the Cambodian language.  Currently, one more volunteer is working on recording the scripts but it may be possible to increase this to two.  Kayo has also doubled her ministry involvement with Precious Women organization which evangelizes and retrains Cambodian women who are currently working in bars and nightclubs.

Prayer Requests:
1. Two of our most stable and generous financial supporters are now in their 80s.  The wife has been put into a nursing home permanently.  This has wiped out most of their finances.  As a result, we need to replace between $400-$600 monthly asap, just to break even.  Please pray that God will give us peace, favor, and provision to meet this and other increasing financial needs. Please pray for increased financial sponsors from the younger generation and for God to reveal other income sources as well.

2. Please pray for Darryl’s networking with Cambodian Christians to increase the number and quality of Cambodian language evangelistic videos for social media.

3. Please pray for Kayo’s partnership with Precious Women Ministry. That God will use this ministry to reach many Cambodian women for Christ.

4. Please pray for Kayo’s work in planning a large fundraising concert for Food for Hungry Japan and Kone Kmeng children’s ministry in Cambodia.  A professional musician from Japan will come to Cambodia and it will be an opportunity to raise funds for Christian ministries and share the Gospel.

Thanks for your prayers.

2. Please pray for the Syrian refugees that are trying to be reunited to their families from Syria, since Germany approved the new Law of reunification for refugees’ spouses and unmarried minors. AFRICA

HisKids – Joe and Lisa Horner – S. Sudan, Uganda and Haiti

Prayer Requests:
1. Please pray for the unrest in Haiti.  Recently, the Prime Minister of Haiti announced a major increase in the price of fuel.  After this announcement, there was rioting and looting all over the country.  Haiti supplements the price of fuel, and there was a lot of pressure to increase the price.  The PM has since resigned, but the country still has a lot of turmoil.  We had a team of people going to Haiti in July, but it was cancelled because of the unrest.

2. We are still fighting polio.  I have not found vaccinations to give to the kids.  You would think this would be easy to find either here in the states or in Haiti, but it is not.  I am meeting with some doctors who are interested in helping.  If you know how we can stop kids in Haiti from getting polio, please let me know.  We are trying to get kids who have been affected by polio wheel chairs.  If you are interested in helping, go here: https://hiskids.com/donations/wheelchair/ Also, please continue to pray for Jenny who needs face surgery.

3. Please pray for Hiskids to help more kids.  HisKids continues to grow in helping the helpless, hopeless and hurting.  We have continual medical needs that are going unmet.

Thank you for faithfully praying for us!

Thank you all for your faithfulness in praying for our family! It means more to us than you know!

Prayer Requests:
1. Please pray for our financial needs, that God would supply us with all that we need while keeping us strong and growing in faith in this area. We long for hearts like that of Agur in Proverbs 30:7-9!

2. Please pray for Joel, along with Pastor Mike and some amazingly talented volunteers, as they develop strategies for raising financial support for those who would like to attend our Bible Colleges in South Asia and need monthly support (about $30/month for each student) to do so over the course of the 2-year program.

3. Please pray for wisdom for Joel in deciding whether he should go on an Israel trip in the Spring, which would include a stop along the way to scope out potential SGWM ministry in a middle-eastern country.

4. Please pray for wisdom in training and raising our kids in the Lord, and for Amy in particular as she performs the daily task of caring for all of the (many, many) needs of our little ones. We long to raise our kids to know, love, and follow Christ, to love others well, and to be faithful and responsible servants.

5. Please pray for clear vision for Joel for both worship ministry and for both Joel and Amy in discipling those in our young adults ministry that we lead. Please also pray for the time-management skills Joel will need in the coming months as he takes on a lot of new roles that require lots of time, effort, and studying.

Love you and thank you!

In Christ,
Joel, Amy, Maggie, Harrison, and Jude  –  Email   Blog

Pankaj, Tonielle, Levi, and Baby #2 – South Asia

-We are so grateful that we have a God that knows our needs and hears our cries! We are also grateful for all of the amazing people He has placed in our lives who come along side of us to lift up our prayers.

Prayer Requests:

1. Please Pray that the Nepali government is implementing new laws against Christianity. There are still a lot of unanswered questions as to what this means and how/if it will affect our ministry. At this point, we are not too concerned and are continuing to move forward in the work that God has called us to do, but we are also asking for wisdom in how to keep our students, ministry workers, and staff safe.

2. We are still having issues with Tonielle and Levi’s long term visa. At this point, our lawyer is only able to get 3 month visas for us and not able to get the 1 year visa. While it is good that we can still stay in the country, it is much more expensive and stressful to have to go through the renewal process every 2-3 months at a time. Please pray that God will provide a way for the government to approve a 1 year visa for us.

3. In case you didn’t see on Facebook or our newsletter, Baby Sarkar #2 is on the way!! He or she is due in the end of February 2019. We are very excited for this new gift of life but also a bit nervous for the transition into being a family of 4. Please keep this pregnancy in your prayers and please pray for us as we prepare for this big change in our lives.

Thank you for your prayers!

In Him,

Nadeem and Farah Massey – Pakistan

Greetings! We are thankful to you for standing with us in this mission field through praying for us/with there.

Prayer Requests:
1. This is election month in Pakistan, some members of extremist organizations are also contesting this time which is really bad news for the religious minorities. Please keep Pakistan in you prayers that we may have a good leader who can ensure the protection of Christians and other minorities in Pakistan.

2. I am praying to go to Thailand in September to attend Calvary Chapel Asia Missions Conference. I am in need of support of $700 for airfare and $500 for lodging. Please pray for the provision of this need. If anyone from you is coming to Thailand in September, please get in touch, it will be wonderful to have fellowship.

3. During last two months we have been traveling to some very poor and backward areas of Pakistan, about 4-5 hours drive from our place. People are poor, and oppressed and along with that they are deceived and robbed by Televangelists and prosperity teachers. It was great to go and share with them about Jesus through Ture Word. We wish to continue this project. One monthly trip costs us $150, if Lord leads you to support this project of reaching the unreached, please pray for provision of the need.

4. Please keep Calvary Chapel Pakistan always in your prayers, pray for the protection of the staff and the congregations.

Thank you and God bless you!

I just want to put this before you as a prayer request, we believe that if it will be according to His will, He will provide from His riches.

HisKids – Joe and Lisa Horner – S. Sudan, Uganda and Haiti

Prayer Requests:
1. In the past few months we have had some medical problems with some of our orphans.  We just started supplementing their diet with beans and rice in Nov. 2017, but some of these kids are still recovering from malnutrition.  That seems like a long time, but protein is expensive in developing countries.  We can’t go out and buy all the kids protein powder or buy them each a cow or chickens. We did have a big party on Christmas where we bought a cow.  Some of them ate beef for the first time.  Please pray we can find ways of getting more protein in their diet.

We are trying to get kids who have been effected by polio wheel chairs.

We have a trip planned from July 22-28 to Haiti. We are doing door to door evangelism and doing services at night.  Pray that God will move in the hearts of the people we reach out to.   If you need to contact me, my email is joe@hiskids.com  or go to Hiskids.com.

Thank you for faithfully praying for us!

EUROPE

S. S. – Europe

Prayer Requests:
The Iranian ministry:

1. The German court refused to give the asylum for the refugee family that lives in the church at the end of August and extended the period till end of November without giving any promise if this will be even further extended. There are some discussion that the minimum church asylum period will be extended to 18 months. The family is having a difficult time living in the church without the freedom to go out. Staying till the end of November looks so hard for them, and only God’s grace can keep them and help them. Prayers for their situation is greatly needed.

2. Strength and wisdom in encouraging the other Iranian refugees and to have God’s will and mind in our weekly meetings.

The Arabic ministry:
1. Being a witness for all the families that I intend to visit in the Rein-Neckar Area in this month.

2. A special request is for Abu-Said a Muslim convert who is backsliding back to Islam, that God keep him in his knowledge and grace and he gets to hold on Jesus and His truth.

3. Working with German youth:

4. I will be spending a whole week with the teens and young adults of our church from 9-16 July where we live, pray, worship, and study the Bible together. Prayers for wisdom and grace will be great, that God uses me to impact their hearts and mind to take bold steps for His calling.

Thank you for faithfully praying!

God bless you,
S. S.

2. Erin will be traveling to South Asia in June to document our ministries there. Please pray that the Lord covers this trip with grace and everything goes smoothly. Joel and Amy Garcia – California, USA

Thank you all so much for taking the time to read these requests for a better understanding of how to pray for us and all other SGWM missionaries! It’s a greater blessing than you may realize 🙂

Prayer Requests:
1. Please pray for the SGWM team leaving for South Asia for most of June. We are so excited for how God will use them on this trip, so please pray for fruitfulness for them and against the many attacks of the enemy. Also pray for Pastor Mike and myself, as we will be hanging behind here at home and holding down the fort for both SGWM (as most of our SGWM home staff will be on the trip) and our church (as many of the church leaders will be gone on the trip as well).

2. Please pray for Amy and the kids. We ask for this a lot, but we can always use prayer for wisdom for raising and training our children to follow Christ. Specifically, Jude, our 1 year old, has been waking up very early. We live in a two bedroom apartment, so this means that Jude is waking up our other kids super early. I know this may seem like a small problem (and it is in light of others!), but lack of sleep for kids the age of ours tends to snowball into difficult days for both the kids and mom, so please pray for us to have wisdom and grace in handling our children, and for their sleep patterns to adjust a bit.

3. Please also pray an opportunity to open up to rent a larger living space at an affordable price for us. We’d love to have some more space (and somewhat of a backyard) for our kids to run around, and a larger living space to host more young adults and potentially a Life Group down the road.

Thank you all again for your prayers!

In Christ,
Joel, Amy, Maggie, Harrison, and Jude  –  Email  Blog

The Buescher Family – Cajamarca, Peru

Praise Report:
-Praise the Lord for a great semester! We are now transitioning into our “break” which isn’t so much a break as a change in schedule. Please pray for the church to thrive as the students go home.

-Praise the Lord that He has been incredibly gracious and continues to grow and bless us through our sweet little Mírabel.

Prayer Requests:
1. Pray for those students who stay on campus during the break. It can be challenging to stay here and work when the majority of your friends have gone home to rest and be with family.

2. Pray that the Lord would really continue to show us what our roles at the Bible college are, and how we can best support the work that the Lord is doing here.

3. We often shy away from praying for things that we “want”, but don’t “need” but you can join us in praying that the Lord would provide us with a car. It is always a blessing, but especially on the days when Jessica is struggling with her health. It can get difficult not to have our own vehicle. (On that note, please pray for continued health for her!)

Thank you for your prayers!

ASIA

B. Family – South Asia

Greetings from South Asia! Thank you for praying for our family and ministry.

Prayer Requests:
1. Please pray for our family’s financial struggles. Our account balance is lower than it has ever been and we are struggling to make ends meet. The blessing of a new baby is also a test of our trust that the Lord will continue to provide all we need in His time! Very specifically in the next few months we need money for our children’s vaccinations and healthcare, new baby’s US passport applications, mom and kids’ permanent residency applications, dad’s green card application, and travel costs to prepare all these things.

2. We have a team of Pastors and leaders coming this month from the US, as well as over 70 pastors from across India who will be joining us for a Pastors Conference. Please pray for safe travels, good health and safety while everyone is with us. Pray for the Spirit to move and transform lives as the Word of God goes forth and equips these faithful Shepherds.

Blessings,

AFRICA

HisKids – Joe and Lisa Horner – S. Sudan, Uganda and Haiti

Prayer Requests:
1, HisKids continues to grow in helping the helpless, hopeless and hurting.    This month we we had a goal to get vitamins to all our orphans as well as continue to do a food distribution and support the school.  There are over 150 kids in our program all over the community, so it wasn’t an easy task.  I wish it was as easy as including some vitamins with our food distribution, but many of you know, it is never easy to do things in a developing country.  Justin is a great director and was able to get vitamins to our kids.  Justin makes house visits to each home to check on their welfare and to help the family.  We also have 25 kids in Ranquette, Haiti who need wheel chairs.  It broke my heart to see one of our Kids crawling on his hands and knees in the rocky dirt.  He had polio and is now permanently disabled.  We set up a web-page to raise support for the wheel chairs.  https://hiskids.com/donations/wheelchair/

2. We are also trying to figure out how to stop our kids from getting Polio.  So far we have not found an affordable solution.  Please pray for us to find a way to vaccinate the community of this horrible disease.  We are praising God for the people He is sending our way to help by becoming monthly partners and the effect it is having on individual lives.  Please continue to pray for Jenny who needs face surgery. Jordan, the little boy who we sent to the hospital from malnutrition and a kidney infection, is all smiles now and back in school.

3. Please pray for Hiskids to help more kids.  We have continual medical needs that are going unmet.  We have a trip planned from July 22-28 to Haiti.  If you are interested, email me at  joe@hiskids.com  or go to Hiskids.com.

Thank you for faithfully praying for us!

God bless you,

HisKids – Joe and Lisa Horner – S. Sudan, Uganda and Haiti

Prayer Requests:
1. HisKids continues to grow in helping the helpless, hopeless and hurting.  The effect that it is having on the local church in Haiti is exciting.  As we empower the leaders of the church, they are encouraged to reach their community.  Justin, HisKids Haiti director, has been doing home visits to our kids.  As a result, there has been over 30 people who have received Christ and have been baptized in the last 2 months.  Home visits also enable Justin to find out the needs in the community.  We have 25 people in Ranquette, Haiti who need wheel chairs.  It broke my heart to see one of our Kids crawling on his hands and knees in the rocky dirt.  He had polio and is now permanently disabled.  We set up a web-page to raise support for the wheel chairs.  https://hiskids.com/donations/wheelchair/  We are also trying to figure out how to stop our kids from getting Polio in the first place.  So far we have not found an affordable solution.  Please pray for us to find a way to vaccinate the community of this horrible disease.  We are praising God for the people He is sending our way to help by becoming monthly partners and the effect it is having on individual lives.  Please continue to pray for Jenny who needs face surgery, and pray for the recovery of Jordan, the little boy who we sent to the hospital from malnutrition and a kidney infection.  We sent a little extra money for him to eat like a king for a few weeks.

2. Please pray for Hiskids to help more kids.  We have continual medical needs that are going unmet.  We have a trip planned from July 22-28 to Haiti.  If you are interested, email me at joe@hiskids.com or go to HisKids.com Pray for our trust and peace as God supplies our needs. Phil 4:19.

Thank you so much for your prayers!

Praise God!
-Praise the Lord, our sweet baby Jane “Mirabel” arrived on April 6th. We had a home birth and it was quick and relatively easy. She is healthy and precious. We haven’t had nearly the same fears as expected with having a new little one around. God has been comforting us and continuing to grow our trust in Him.

Joel and Amy Garcia – California, USA

Thank you all for your faithful prayers and support!

Prayer Requests:
1. We have been experiencing some spiritual warfare here at the just-about-six-month mark of our new lifestyle as US-based missionaries. Just the normal doubt/anxiety that comes with serving in ministry. Though I’ve only been doing ministry and missions work full-time for a few months, we’ve been in ministry for a number of years and have been through seasons like this before. God will be faithful through it, but we’d appreciate prayers in this area.

2. The Lord has been faithful in our financial support, but there is definitely a need for us to raise more financial support, especially as we seek to eventually rent a house, or something bigger than our two-bedroom apartment so our little ones have a bit more space to run around.

3. Praise God Jude, our 10-month-old, has been sleeping a bit better, but we can greatly use prayer for wisdom on raising our kids, especially our 2- and 4-year old, in the Lord. Parenting is wonderful, but can be frustrating and difficult (after all, there are 3 little sinners and 2 big ones in our family!).

4. My upcoming trip to Uganda in October. Please pray for vision for Pastor Mike and I for how the Lord would use us to strengthen and encourage our SGWM missionaries there, and that the Lord would provide additional finances for me to be able to go.

Thank you all again for your prayers on our behalf!

In Christ,

3. For the After School Program that is every Tues, Thurs. and Fri. here from 1:00-4:00, for the kids hearts to be healed and won over for Jesus, and for much needed wisdom and extra love for all of the staff members. Also, for more servants who are CALLED to serve the children

The B Family – South Asia

Thank you for praying for our family the past month. The Lord has blessed us so much with health and safety and answers to your prayers.

PRAISE THE LORD!
-We thank the Lord for the arrival of students and staff and their adjustment and flexibility.

-Construction is mostly complete, however there are a lot of small projects that need to be finished for everything to run smoothly.

-Praise the Lord for continued healthy pregnancy and our son’s adjustment to a new routine this last month.

Prayer Requests:
Family
-Please continue to pray for us as we will be going from a family of 3 to a family of 4. We have reached the final trimester and baby could come any day between now and the end of the month. Although my pregnancy has been healthy and is considered low-risk, please keep our delivery time in prayer that mom will have endurance and baby will remain strong and healthy. We have great midwives caring for us, and a hospital 5 minutes away for any emergency. However, this is still a third world country and there are challenges like the possibility of no electricity in the dead of summer with sweltering killing humidity. We are trusting in the Lord’s grace and mercy and perfect will for our family and this baby’s arrival! May the Lord be glorified in whatever happens!

 Ministry
-Please pray for the remainder of the construction to be completed on the compound so classes can run smoothly and schedules can be put in place. Pray for an electricity connection. Without going into detail, we need the Lord to make a way, where there seems to be no way. Pray for protection over the compound and no issues while my husband is away this month to be with our family.  Pray for the students and staff to be blessed during this time of studying God’s Word, and for great fruit to abound.

Please pray for a home
-Please continue to pray for financial provision and the Lord’s timing in the building of our home inside the campus/compound. It will cost approximately $30,000 to complete a 1000sq ft home including bathroom and kitchen fixtures like toilets, counters and sinks. To our eyes it seems impossible, but with God all things are possible! Please also pray for wisdom and vision in how we can go about fundraising and sharing this need for our family.

Blessings from our family to yours,
The B Family – Email

Prayer Requests:
1. Please pray for the construction work for the Bible School to be fully complete.

3. Please pray for our students and staff as classes have started and God’s Word is being taught.

4. Please pray for the community around us to come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Pray our students and staff would bear fruit and it would draw many to a relationship with the Lord.

5. Please pray for my family. My wife and daughter are staying with my son and his wife as they are expecting their second child this month. Pray for my younger son as he studies God’s Word and grows in the Lord.

6. Please pray for my family’s financial support.

Praise God!
-On Friday evenings, I have started cottage prayer. We also have had our first two Sunday 2. services!

Prayer Requests:
1. Please pray for the ministry–that it will grow day by day. Especially pray for the grandmother who opened her home for the ministry/church–may God bless her life abundantly.

2. Also, a woman who comes to our church has a fantastic testimony; God has freed her from Satanic power. Now she is doing very well. She is a new believer. Please pray for her spiritual growth.

Thank you for praying for us!

R.K. – South Asia

Prayer Requests:
1. Please pray for my ministry and my family.

2. Please pray for a family I visited yesterday.  I go to a village to visit them, and I teach them as Calvary Chapel likes to do, verse by verse from the Bible. Pray for this family, as they are not very strong believers.  Also, the husband/father is not a believer, so please pray that he will know God.

3. Please pray for a group of four children that I visit. They belong to such a poor family–too poor. One of the little boys cannot stand or walk, and he has to sit all day. One of the girls cannot hear or speak. The other little boy is unable to control his mind. Please pray for them. When I see these children I cry so much.

4.Please pray for one family who does not have enough food to eat. Every day, they eat only rice without vegetables. I bought some things for them and gave them to them. Please pray for God to supply their needs.

God bless you,

The B Family –  South Asia

Praise Report:
-Praise the Lord! Thank you for praying for our family last month, we have so many answers to prayer. Mom and baby are finally settled in the main city to await the birth of our second child. Although mom and dad are separated for the coming month, it has been a great transition to settle into a more western place where mom can speak English with locals and build friendships with many other mommies-to-be. Praise the Lord for financial provisions to pay for the birth as well as the temporary housing and moving costs this last month!

Prayer Requests:
1. Please pray for mom/dad aka husband/wife as we are separated off and on for the month of April. Also for our son as he has a hard time when dad is back and forth.

2. Please keep our health in prayer. Dad has ongoing headaches and a low immune system, pray for wisdom to take care of himself as he cares for everything and everyone else. Pray for mom as she goes through third-trimester difficulties while caring for a toddler. Pray especially for sleep as it has been difficult for the last few months and it is affecting mom’s health. Pray for our son as he has been having reoccurring fevers and intense teething (5 teeth at once recently, including 2 molars). Pray also for his safety as he is very rambunctious and brave!

3. Please pray for our campus construction to be fully completed in the coming month. We are at a place where we can finally start classes, but there is still so much to be done to make it livable and safe and ready to house more staff/students.

4. Please pray for our students and staff who arrived the last week of March. Pray for their adjustment to a new culture, language and food, and also for their health, safety and unity as they dwell together this month.

5. Please continue to pray for financial provision and the Lord’s timing in the building of our home inside the campus/compound.

North and Central America

Joel and Amy Garcia – California, USA

Thank you for all who take the time to read these requests and partner with us in prayer!

Prayer Requests:
1. Please pray for wisdom and vision for Joel for the various ministries he leads at Calvary Chapel Saving Grace (Young Adults Group, Worship Ministry, Life Groups, New Believers’ Classes, etc.). His desire is not just to do a lot of things, but to do them well and with the proper focus and guidance from the Holy Spirit.

2. Please pray for the trip Joel plans to take this year with Pastor Mike to Uganda. Pray for God to provide the financial resources to go and a clear vision for he and Pastor Mike to encourage our missionaries there and to strengthen His work in Uganda.

3. Please pray for wisdom in raising our children. We have one teething and crawling everywhere, one who is just about done with potty training, and a wonderful 4-year-old whose mind is soaking in everything. We need lots of wisdom, especially Amy, who has the privilege of staying home with our kids full-time. This is a challenging job without any breaks, so please pray for strength for her!

4. Please pray for the upcoming SGWM Missions Banquet on May 5th. Joel is helping plan it and is in charge of promotion of it. We’re praying for great attendance and for the Lord to lead people to become financial partners with SGWM as an organization so that we can keep sending missionaries effectively!

5. Finally, we have been praying for quite awhile for God to provide a larger living space, namely, a house to rent. As our kids grow and our boys become a bit more, well, boyish, we’ve realized they could really use some more space and a contained outside area. We can’t beat the rent on our current 2-bedroom apartment, and we’re more than happy where we are, but it would be a huge blessing to have more space for our kids and for us to practice more hospitality than we’ve been able to (like hosting a life group).

Thank you all again for your prayers on our behalf!

Love,
Joel, Amy, Maggie, Harrison, & Jude – Email  Blog

3. I will be heading to Uganda in October with (Lord willing) Joel and Tim. Please cover this trip in prayer. I would also like to have Malachi (my son) join me. But he’ll need to raise funds. Please pray for that.

4. Please pray for wisdom and vision for Erin as she home-schools our three kids.

5. Please pray for Erin’s photography business. It is steadily growing. Pray for more clients and that the Lord would use her not just to bring in extra income but as a ministry opportunity.

The Buescher Family – Cajamarca, Peru

Thank you for taking the time to pray!

Prayer Requests:
1. Please join us in prayer this month as baby Jane Mírabel can arrive any day. Pray for a smooth delivery and that we will be able to have a home birth as planned. Pray that we have water during the birth. Our water has been cutting out regularly the past couple weeks.

2. Pray also that we adjust quickly to having a new baby in the house. With our eight month old son having died this past year, the sight of sleeping babies still causes panic at times. And even with our older kids I can’t have them sleep within my sight. So I am really nervous about this transition.

3. Pray that God would pour into us and renew our minds and spirits. That we would abide in Him constantly and be refreshed.

4. Pray for unity and growth among the students and staff of the Bible college here in Cajamarca. That we would all be drawing near to Him and that our relationships would be strengthened.

Thank you! Sorry again that I was late, it has been a pretty stressful week for us and we are feeling really overwhelmed. Thanks for what you do to share our prayer requests! We appreciate it.

God Bless you,

EUROPE

Mitch and Christine Sorensen – Nice, France

Thank you for being our Care Team.

Prayer requests:
1. Pray for our health as Christine and I are still dealing with back issues (Christine) and me with Bell’s palsy.

2. Pray that in spite of these difficulties we would still have a strong witness in being able to share the Gospel

3. Pray about our tax situation in France which enables us to get cheap health care. We are talking to a lawyer because the status of being missionaries makes it an interesting challenge.

4. Christine’s niece and fiance are new believers and live in an area without a church nearby. We are keeping in contact by Skype and sending new believer studies but they need fellowship also.

5. Pray for our financial provision and that we would be good stewards of the monies we do have.

God bless you as you serve Him.

Their names are Sanja, Darija, Mirela, Marija, Valentina, Manuel, Dario, Robert, Marko and Klaudija.

7. Pray that the Lord would open the doors for me to return back to Croatia soon and that while He has me stateside that I wouldn’t waste the time but that I would use it for His glory.

Nick and Sue Long- Milliwatt, Austria

Prayer Requests:
1. Please continue to pray about our visa situation.  We met with a lawyer in Vienna and it appears we may be able to get the visas. Much paperwork needs to be done and it may take about 6 months.  We covet your prayers on this issue. After we get our visas as “Overseers of the Castle” here, it will be easier for visas to be established for others. Thank you.

2. Please pray that the restorations go smoothly and for the guests attending conferences while these projects are going on to continue have peaceful hearts, patience and understanding.

3. We continue to pray for God to open hearts for His choices of the right people to work alongside of our existing team here at the Castle.  We have a great group of servants ( our Castle Family), that God has put together so far, and we are trusting Him to add to the family in His timing.  Please pray with us for how this will be accomplished.  We need help, but we don’t need full time help all year long.  Mostly for bigger conferences (kitchen and housekeeping help), but eventually also  full time office help from someone who speaks german fluently (can communicate with local hotel/guest houses for our bigger conferences, when we need to use extra rooms in the local community), is organized, can use computer programs, and can work well under challenging/stressful circumstances. Praying for a good fit for our family on this one especially.

4. It has been snowing here off and on these past couple of months… We do love the snow. It is an amazing transformation of beauty for this place, compared to the summer months here. The snow covered mountains, the lake, and the tranquility are all a reflection of God’s beauty and love for this place. We are also looking forward to our daughter and her family visiting us here from Germany, over Easter week. Hopefully traveling here from Germany will be smooth.

5.We will be heading back to the states mid April, until summer. Until we get those visas in place we can only be here for 3 months at a time… Our time here this trip also included moving into our apartment connected to the Castle (the Coach House). We did some renovating, and have been slowly making it feel like more than a temporary dwelling place… We have also been building our relationships with our castle family… and appreciating how God has brought each one here to be a part of the big picture. They are each so amazing in their own way… Thankful for them all! Please pray for our castle family, as they hold down the responsibilities when we are not present… Thank you so much

Thank you for your faithful prayers!

Blessings,

Marc and Linda McSweeny – Frankfurt Germany

Prayer Requests:
One of Linda’s closest friends is in intensive care due to pneumonia. She is in an artificial coma, on an artificial respirator, and her condition is not improving. She is married with 2 children and does not know the Lord. Please pray for her healing.

One of the young ladies in the church is pregnant but has a medical condition that can potentially cause her to lose the baby. She has to give herself an injection everyday. She has also lost a baby before, so she is very fearful. Pray for peace in her life and a healthy baby to be delivered.

Please continue to pray for my headaches/migraines. They have become much more frequent since Christmas. My doctor is trying to get me into a headache clinic but so far my case “is not bad enough.” Pray for healing and wisdom for the doctors.

Please pray for wisdom in dealing with a certain situation in the church. The enemy is ever ready to cause problems and then get our focus on man. We wrestle not against flesh and blood. Pray that our eyes would all be on the Lord.

Thanks for your prayers!

HisKids – Joe and Lisa Horner – S. Sudan, Uganda and Haiti

Prayer Requests:
1. We have received reports that the kids we are trying to help in Haiti have been suffering from vitamin deficiency.  This is common in developing countries where kids are not exposed to a variety of foods.  We are planning on purchasing bulk vitamin powder that the can be mixed into their water.  To give vitamins to 150 kids is $125/month.

2. Please pray for Hiskids to help more kids.  We have continual medical needs that are going unmet.  Every day we are encountering more and more children that are hopeless, helpless and hurting.  We are still asking for prayer for Jenny who needs surgery on her face.  We are trying to get her surgery in Haiti in the next few months. We are also praising God for saving many children from starvation and over 30 people who made decisions to follow Christ in the last 2 months.   We have a trip planned from July 22-28 to Haiti.  If you are interested, email me at joe@hiskids.com or go to Hiskids.com.

God bless you,
