Mike and Erin Thiemann – California, USA

Prayer Requests:
1. Pray for wisdom as we navigate, plan, and start administrating four different schools in different locations in South Asia.

2. Erin will be traveling to South Asia in June to document our ministries there. Please pray that the Lord covers this trip with grace and everything goes smoothly. Pray for her camera gear, that it will all function correctly and not get stolen. Also, pray for me (Mike) and the kids as we will be “surviving” for 18 days without Erin (aka Mom).

3. I will be heading to Uganda in October with (Lord willing) Malachi, Joel, and Tim. Please cover this trip in prayer. Please pray for Malachi as he raises funds for his trip.

4. Please pray for wisdom and vision for Erin as she home-schools our three kids.

5. Please pray for Erin’s photography business. It is steadily growing. Pray for more clients and that the Lord would use her not just to bring in extra income but as a ministry opportunity.

6.Please pray for our financial support. Erin and I do live on missionary support as U.S. based missionaries.

Joel and Amy Garcia – California, USA

Thank you all so much for taking the time to read these requests for a better understanding of how to pray for us and all other SGWM missionaries! It’s a greater blessing than you may realize 🙂

Prayer Requests:
1. Please pray for the SGWM team leaving for South Asia for most of June. We are so excited for how God will use them on this trip, so please pray for fruitfulness for them and against the many attacks of the enemy. Also pray for Pastor Mike and myself, as we will be hanging behind here at home and holding down the fort for both SGWM (as most of our SGWM home staff will be on the trip) and our church (as many of the church leaders will be gone on the trip as well).

2. Please pray for Amy and the kids. We ask for this a lot, but we can always use prayer for wisdom for raising and training our children to follow Christ. Specifically, Jude, our 1 year old, has been waking up very early. We live in a two bedroom apartment, so this means that Jude is waking up our other kids super early. I know this may seem like a small problem (and it is in light of others!), but lack of sleep for kids the age of ours tends to snowball into difficult days for both the kids and mom, so please pray for us to have wisdom and grace in handling our children, and for their sleep patterns to adjust a bit.

3. Please also pray an opportunity to open up to rent a larger living space at an affordable price for us. We’d love to have some more space (and somewhat of a backyard) for our kids to run around, and a larger living space to host more young adults and potentially a Life Group down the road.

Thank you all again for your prayers!

In Christ,
Joel, Amy, Maggie, Harrison, and Jude  –  Email  Blog

The Buescher Family – Cajamarca, Peru

Praise Report:
-Praise the Lord for a great semester! We are now transitioning into our “break” which isn’t so much a break as a change in schedule. Please pray for the church to thrive as the students go home.

-Praise the Lord that He has been incredibly gracious and continues to grow and bless us through our sweet little Mírabel.

Prayer Requests:
1. Pray for those students who stay on campus during the break. It can be challenging to stay here and work when the majority of your friends have gone home to rest and be with family.

2. Pray that the Lord would really continue to show us what our roles at the Bible college are, and how we can best support the work that the Lord is doing here.

3. We often shy away from praying for things that we “want”, but don’t “need” but you can join us in praying that the Lord would provide us with a car. It is always a blessing, but especially on the days when Jessica is struggling with her health. It can get difficult not to have our own vehicle. (On that note, please pray for continued health for her!)

Thank you for your prayers!

God Bless you,

The blessing of a new baby is also a test of our trust that the Lord will continue to provide all we need in His time! Very specifically in the next few months we need money for our children’s vaccinations and healthcare, new baby’s US passport applications, mom and kids’ permanent residency applications, dad’s green card application, and travel costs to prepare all these things.

2. We have a team of Pastors and leaders coming this month from the US, as well as over 70 pastors from across India who will be joining us for a Pastors Conference. Please pray for safe travels, good health and safety while everyone is with us. Pray for the Spirit to move and transform lives as the Word of God goes forth and equips these faithful Shepherds.

AFRICA

HisKids – Joe and Lisa Horner – S. Sudan, Uganda and Haiti

Prayer Requests:
1, HisKids continues to grow in helping the helpless, hopeless and hurting.    This month we we had a goal to get vitamins to all our orphans as well as continue to do a food distribution and support the school.  There are over 150 kids in our program all over the community, so it wasn’t an easy task.  I wish it was as easy as including some vitamins with our food distribution, but many of you know, it is never easy to do things in a developing country.  Justin is a great director and was able to get vitamins to our kids.  Justin makes house visits to each home to check on their welfare and to help the family.  We also have 25 kids in Ranquette, Haiti who need wheel chairs.  It broke my heart to see one of our Kids crawling on his hands and knees in the rocky dirt.  He had polio and is now permanently disabled.  We set up a web-page to raise support for the wheel chairs.  https://hiskids.com/donations/wheelchair/

2. We are also trying to figure out how to stop our kids from getting Polio.  So far we have not found an affordable solution.  Please pray for us to find a way to vaccinate the community of this horrible disease.  We are praising God for the people He is sending our way to help by becoming monthly partners and the effect it is having on individual lives.  Please continue to pray for Jenny who needs face surgery. Jordan, the little boy who we sent to the hospital from malnutrition and a kidney infection, is all smiles now and back in school.

3. Please pray for Hiskids to help more kids.  We have continual medical needs that are going unmet.  We have a trip planned from July 22-28 to Haiti.  If you are interested, email me at  joe@hiskids.com  or go to Hiskids.com.

Thank you for faithfully praying for us!

God bless you,

The Book:
-The book is finished! Please pray as it goes to print in the next week or so… for God to use it for His  glory.

Prayer for the Castle, us and the staff:
– Because of the strategic nature of the ministry of the Castle, the devil has always worked overtime, to try and hinder, thwart and derail the ministry there. We are experiencing those attacks and would

Appreciate prayers for all of us there at the castle.

Thank you for your faithful prayers!

Praise God!
-Praise God for His faithfulness and provision so far! God has brought so many wonderful people around me and it’s a huge answer to prayer to have people who God has led to be a part of His work in Hungary. God is truly faithful and worthy of all of our praise and affection.

I thank God for you. May you know Him deeper still.

HisKids – Joe and Lisa Horner – S. Sudan, Uganda and Haiti

Prayer Requests:
1. HisKids continues to grow in helping the helpless, hopeless and hurting.  The effect that it is having on the local church in Haiti is exciting.  As we empower the leaders of the church, they are encouraged to reach their community.  Justin, HisKids Haiti director, has been doing home visits to our kids.  As a result, there has been over 30 people who have received Christ and have been baptized in the last 2 months.  Home visits also enable Justin to find out the needs in the community.  We have 25 people in Ranquette, Haiti who need wheel chairs.  It broke my heart to see one of our Kids crawling on his hands and knees in the rocky dirt.  He had polio and is now permanently disabled.  We set up a web-page to raise support for the wheel chairs.  https://hiskids.com/donations/wheelchair/  We are also trying to figure out how to stop our kids from getting Polio in the first place.  So far we have not found an affordable solution.  Please pray for us to find a way to vaccinate the community of this horrible disease.  We are praising God for the people He is sending our way to help by becoming monthly partners and the effect it is having on individual lives.  Please continue to pray for Jenny who needs face surgery, and pray for the recovery of Jordan, the little boy who we sent to the hospital from malnutrition and a kidney infection.  We sent a little extra money for him to eat like a king for a few weeks.

2. Please pray for Hiskids to help more kids.  We have continual medical needs that are going unmet.  We have a trip planned from July 22-28 to Haiti.  If you are interested, email me at joe@hiskids.com or go to HisKids.com Pray for our trust and peace as God supplies our needs. Phil 4:19.

Thank you for faithfully praying for us!

Thank you so much for your prayers!

Praise God!
-Praise the Lord, our sweet baby Jane “Mirabel” arrived on April 6th. We had a home birth and it was quick and relatively easy. She is healthy and precious. We haven’t had nearly the same fears as expected with having a new little one around. God has been comforting us and continuing to grow our trust in Him.

Prayer Requests:
1. Please pray for our kids as they adjust to having Mírabel here. They love her so much already. But especially our son Romeo misses his little brother, and with four sisters he is feeling even more out numbered.

2. Please pray for the Bible College here, that the Lord would continue to provide financially to allow so many scholarship students to study.

3. Please also pray for us as we learn and grow and figure out how to better communicate with everyone stateside. This past year has been such a transition and we’re trying to work into a better schedule for writing updates and getting to have conversations with supporters/friends/family.

Thank you!

Joel and Amy Garcia – California, USA

Thank you all for your faithful prayers and support!

Prayer Requests:
1. We have been experiencing some spiritual warfare here at the just-about-six-month mark of our new lifestyle as US-based missionaries. Just the normal doubt/anxiety that comes with serving in ministry. Though I’ve only been doing ministry and missions work full-time for a few months, we’ve been in ministry for a number of years and have been through seasons like this before. God will be faithful through it, but we’d appreciate prayers in this area.

2. The Lord has been faithful in our financial support, but there is definitely a need for us to raise more financial support, especially as we seek to eventually rent a house, or something bigger than our two-bedroom apartment so our little ones have a bit more space to run around.

3. Praise God Jude, our 10-month-old, has been sleeping a bit better, but we can greatly use prayer for wisdom on raising our kids, especially our 2- and 4-year old, in the Lord. Parenting is wonderful, but can be frustrating and difficult (after all, there are 3 little sinners and 2 big ones in our family!).

4. My upcoming trip to Uganda in October. Please pray for vision for Pastor Mike and I for how the Lord would use us to strengthen and encourage our SGWM missionaries there, and that the Lord would provide additional finances for me to be able to go.

Thank you all again for your prayers on our behalf!

In Christ,

3. For the After School Program that is every Tues, Thurs. and Fri. here from 1:00-4:00, for the kids hearts to be healed and won over for Jesus, and for much needed wisdom and extra love for all of the staff members. Also, for more servants who are CALLED to serve the children

4. For more kids in our Sunday School. Our numbers are down due to internet game addiction, I believe

5. For continued good health for me–migraine headaches and planters fasciitis

The B Family – South Asia

Thank you for praying for our family the past month. The Lord has blessed us so much with health and safety and answers to your prayers.

PRAISE THE LORD!
-We thank the Lord for the arrival of students and staff and their adjustment and flexibility.

-Construction is mostly complete, however there are a lot of small projects that need to be finished for everything to run smoothly.

-Praise the Lord for continued healthy pregnancy and our son’s adjustment to a new routine this last month.

Prayer Requests:
Family
-Please continue to pray for us as we will be going from a family of 3 to a family of 4. We have reached the final trimester and baby could come any day between now and the end of the month. Although my pregnancy has been healthy and is considered low-risk, please keep our delivery time in prayer that mom will have endurance and baby will remain strong and healthy. We have great midwives caring for us, and a hospital 5 minutes away for any emergency. However, this is still a third world country and there are challenges like the possibility of no electricity in the dead of summer with sweltering killing humidity. We are trusting in the Lord’s grace and mercy and perfect will for our family and this baby’s arrival! May the Lord be glorified in whatever happens!

 Ministry
-Please pray for the remainder of the construction to be completed on the compound so classes can run smoothly and schedules can be put in place. Pray for an electricity connection. Without going into detail, we need the Lord to make a way, where there seems to be no way. Pray for protection over the compound and no issues while my husband is away this month to be with our family.  Pray for the students and staff to be blessed during this time of studying God’s Word, and for great fruit to abound.

Please pray for a home
-Please continue to pray for financial provision and the Lord’s timing in the building of our home inside the campus/compound. It will cost approximately $30,000 to complete a 1000sq ft home including bathroom and kitchen fixtures like toilets, counters and sinks. To our eyes it seems impossible, but with God all things are possible! Please also pray for wisdom and vision in how we can go about fundraising and sharing this need for our family.

Blessings from our family to yours,
The B Family – Email

3. Please pray for our students and staff as classes have started and God’s Word is being taught.

4. Please pray for the community around us to come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Pray our students and staff would bear fruit and it would draw many to a relationship with the Lord.

R.K. – South Asia

Prayer Requests:
1. Please pray for my ministry and my family.

2. Please pray for a family I visited yesterday.  I go to a village to visit them, and I teach them as Calvary Chapel likes to do, verse by verse from the Bible. Pray for this family, as they are not very strong believers.  Also, the husband/father is not a believer, so please pray that he will know God.

3. Please pray for a group of four children that I visit. They belong to such a poor family–too poor. One of the little boys cannot stand or walk, and he has to sit all day. One of the girls cannot hear or speak. The other little boy is unable to control his mind. Please pray for them. When I see these children I cry so much.

4.Please pray for one family who does not have enough food to eat. Every day, they eat only rice without vegetables. I bought some things for them and gave them to them. Please pray for God to supply their needs.

The B Family –  South Asia

Praise Report:
-Praise the Lord! Thank you for praying for our family last month, we have so many answers to prayer. Mom and baby are finally settled in the main city to await the birth of our second child. Although mom and dad are separated for the coming month, it has been a great transition to settle into a more western place where mom can speak English with locals and build friendships with many other mommies-to-be. Praise the Lord for financial provisions to pay for the birth as well as the temporary housing and moving costs this last month!

Prayer Requests:
1. Please pray for mom/dad aka husband/wife as we are separated off and on for the month of April. Also for our son as he has a hard time when dad is back and forth.

2. Please keep our health in prayer. Dad has ongoing headaches and a low immune system, pray for wisdom to take care of himself as he cares for everything and everyone else. Pray for mom as she goes through third-trimester difficulties while caring for a toddler. Pray especially for sleep as it has been difficult for the last few months and it is affecting mom’s health. Pray for our son as he has been having reoccurring fevers and intense teething (5 teeth at once recently, including 2 molars). Pray also for his safety as he is very rambunctious and brave!

3. Please pray for our campus construction to be fully completed in the coming month. We are at a place where we can finally start classes, but there is still so much to be done to make it livable and safe and ready to house more staff/students.

4. Please pray for our students and staff who arrived the last week of March. Pray for their adjustment to a new culture, language and food, and also for their health, safety and unity as they dwell together this month.

5. Please continue to pray for financial provision and the Lord’s timing in the building of our home inside the campus/compound.

Blessings from our family to yours!

North and Central America

Joel and Amy Garcia – California, USA

Thank you for all who take the time to read these requests and partner with us in prayer!

Prayer Requests:
1. Please pray for wisdom and vision for Joel for the various ministries he leads at Calvary Chapel Saving Grace (Young Adults Group, Worship Ministry, Life Groups, New Believers’ Classes, etc.). His desire is not just to do a lot of things, but to do them well and with the proper focus and guidance from the Holy Spirit.

2. Please pray for the trip Joel plans to take this year with Pastor Mike to Uganda. Pray for God to provide the financial resources to go and a clear vision for he and Pastor Mike to encourage our missionaries there and to strengthen His work in Uganda.

3. Please pray for wisdom in raising our children. We have one teething and crawling everywhere, one who is just about done with potty training, and a wonderful 4-year-old whose mind is soaking in everything. We need lots of wisdom, especially Amy, who has the privilege of staying home with our kids full-time. This is a challenging job without any breaks, so please pray for strength for her!

4. Please pray for the upcoming SGWM Missions Banquet on May 5th. Joel is helping plan it and is in charge of promotion of it. We’re praying for great attendance and for the Lord to lead people to become financial partners with SGWM as an organization so that we can keep sending missionaries effectively!

5. Finally, we have been praying for quite awhile for God to provide a larger living space, namely, a house to rent. As our kids grow and our boys become a bit more, well, boyish, we’ve realized they could really use some more space and a contained outside area. We can’t beat the rent on our current 2-bedroom apartment, and we’re more than happy where we are, but it would be a huge blessing to have more space for our kids and for us to practice more hospitality than we’ve been able to (like hosting a life group).

Thank you all again for your prayers on our behalf!

Love,
Joel, Amy, Maggie, Harrison, & Jude – Email  Blog

The Buescher Family – Cajamarca, Peru

Thank you for taking the time to pray!

Prayer Requests:
1. Please join us in prayer this month as baby Jane Mírabel can arrive any day. Pray for a smooth delivery and that we will be able to have a home birth as planned. Pray that we have water during the birth. Our water has been cutting out regularly the past couple weeks.

2. Pray also that we adjust quickly to having a new baby in the house. With our eight month old son having died this past year, the sight of sleeping babies still causes panic at times. And even with our older kids I can’t have them sleep within my sight. So I am really nervous about this transition.

3. Pray that God would pour into us and renew our minds and spirits. That we would abide in Him constantly and be refreshed.

4. Pray for unity and growth among the students and staff of the Bible college here in Cajamarca. That we would all be drawing near to Him and that our relationships would be strengthened.

Thank you! Sorry again that I was late, it has been a pretty stressful week for us and we are feeling really overwhelmed. Thanks for what you do to share our prayer requests! We appreciate it.

2. Pray that in spite of these difficulties we would still have a strong witness in being able to share the Gospel

4. Christine’s niece and fiance are new believers and live in an area without a church nearby. We are keeping in contact by Skype and sending new believer studies but they need fellowship also.

5. Pray for our financial provision and that we would be good stewards of the monies we do have.

Nick and Sue Long- Milliwatt, Austria

Prayer Requests:
1. Please continue to pray about our visa situation.  We met with a lawyer in Vienna and it appears we may be able to get the visas. Much paperwork needs to be done and it may take about 6 months.  We covet your prayers on this issue. After we get our visas as “Overseers of the Castle” here, it will be easier for visas to be established for others. Thank you.

2. Please pray that the restorations go smoothly and for the guests attending conferences while these projects are going on to continue have peaceful hearts, patience and understanding.

3. We continue to pray for God to open hearts for His choices of the right people to work alongside of our existing team here at the Castle.  We have a great group of servants ( our Castle Family), that God has put together so far, and we are trusting Him to add to the family in His timing.  Please pray with us for how this will be accomplished.  We need help, but we don’t need full time help all year long.  Mostly for bigger conferences (kitchen and housekeeping help), but eventually also  full time office help from someone who speaks german fluently (can communicate with local hotel/guest houses for our bigger conferences, when we need to use extra rooms in the local community), is organized, can use computer programs, and can work well under challenging/stressful circumstances. Praying for a good fit for our family on this one especially.

4. It has been snowing here off and on these past couple of months… We do love the snow. It is an amazing transformation of beauty for this place, compared to the summer months here. The snow covered mountains, the lake, and the tranquility are all a reflection of God’s beauty and love for this place. We are also looking forward to our daughter and her family visiting us here from Germany, over Easter week. Hopefully traveling here from Germany will be smooth.

5.We will be heading back to the states mid April, until summer. Until we get those visas in place we can only be here for 3 months at a time… Our time here this trip also included moving into our apartment connected to the Castle (the Coach House). We did some renovating, and have been slowly making it feel like more than a temporary dwelling place… We have also been building our relationships with our castle family… and appreciating how God has brought each one here to be a part of the big picture. They are each so amazing in their own way… Thankful for them all! Please pray for our castle family, as they hold down the responsibilities when we are not present… Thank you so much

Thank you for your faithful prayers!

Marc and Linda McSweeny – Frankfurt Germany

Prayer Requests:
One of Linda’s closest friends is in intensive care due to pneumonia. She is in an artificial coma, on an artificial respirator, and her condition is not improving. She is married with 2 children and does not know the Lord. Please pray for her healing.

One of the young ladies in the church is pregnant but has a medical condition that can potentially cause her to lose the baby. She has to give herself an injection everyday. She has also lost a baby before, so she is very fearful. Pray for peace in her life and a healthy baby to be delivered.

Please continue to pray for my headaches/migraines. They have become much more frequent since Christmas. My doctor is trying to get me into a headache clinic but so far my case “is not bad enough.” Pray for healing and wisdom for the doctors.

Please pray for wisdom in dealing with a certain situation in the church. The enemy is ever ready to cause problems and then get our focus on man. We wrestle not against flesh and blood. Pray that our eyes would all be on the Lord.

Thanks for your prayers!

HisKids – Joe and Lisa Horner – S. Sudan, Uganda and Haiti

Prayer Requests:
1. We have received reports that the kids we are trying to help in Haiti have been suffering from vitamin deficiency.  This is common in developing countries where kids are not exposed to a variety of foods.  We are planning on purchasing bulk vitamin powder that the can be mixed into their water.  To give vitamins to 150 kids is $125/month.

2. Please pray for Hiskids to help more kids.  We have continual medical needs that are going unmet.  Every day we are encountering more and more children that are hopeless, helpless and hurting.  We are still asking for prayer for Jenny who needs surgery on her face.  We are trying to get her surgery in Haiti in the next few months. We are also praising God for saving many children from starvation and over 30 people who made decisions to follow Christ in the last 2 months.   We have a trip planned from July 22-28 to Haiti.  If you are interested, email me at joe@hiskids.com or go to Hiskids.com.

James and Jane Nyika – S. Sudan

For more then a decade most of the adults from the Taus tribe have been scattered through out the mountains to avoid starvation and the constant threat of war. As a result, it’s been nearly impossible to bring the love of Jesus to them as we were not able to live among them.

James Nyika has been working tirelessly for 10 years petitioning the government to demarcate a piece of land in a safe location for the Taus tribe to call their own. This morning he received approval from the government that the paperwork has been prepared.

Praise the Lord!

Prayer Requests:
1. We are praying that this relocation will provide a rich and continuous exposure to the gospel and bring about revival among the older Taus tribal members. Most of the younger generation that have personally experienced Jesus’ love are now saved and completely transformed. There have been so many young adults saved that the Taus are no longer considered an unreached people group. We are confident that this revival will take root among the older generation very soon. Please continue to pray with us.

This new safe place will provide the Taus with access to food, proximity to their children at school, and most importantly the ability to have a piece of land that they can develop for their tribe and future generations. Once again, God has shown these precious people that they are not forgotten.

2. Please pray for James and our staff in South Sudan as they’re finalizing the paperwork and soon hope to begin organizing the relocation.

Here’s a link to some photos if you want a sneak preview. Feel free to use any of these photos as you share what God is doing in South Sudan.  https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Ssd_YE_EtvVo-mhmyBnpybHcKeKNW4Ir

Mitch and Christine Sorensen – Nice, France

Please Pray:
1. For our health and not be discouraged in front of chronic ailments. Mitch is over his headaches but still has a droopy face on the left side because of Bell’s palsy. They say it may take 6 months to return to normal. Christine still has back pain issues after an accident on a bus from a year earlier.

2. For us to be able to go back fully into evangelism in the streets

3. For a deep thirst and hunger for the Lord among the youth and young adults in the church and on Christine’s side of the family here in France: Many dialogues are going on and a trust is established with many of them. Her niece and companion just received Jesus. Praying for a good healthy church next to them so they can start growing strong in the Lord. For wisdom for us on how to direct all these dear ones who need Jesus.

4. For the movie on “The Case for Christ” to be seen by millions in France. It is shown now in movie theaters throughout the country for a very short time. For honesty in the hearts of all in France and a desire to really know the Truth. For openings among the youth in France.

5. For the protection and healing of many full time servants of the Lord here.

6. For a good answer and provision for an international lawyer to counsel us about our situation with tax laws between France and the US.

7. For our provision in every area of our lives.

Thank you for praying for us!

God bless you as you serve Him.

Joel and Amy Garcia – California, USA

Thank you all for your faithful support in praying for our family and our ministry!

Please Pray:
1. Wisdom in raising our little ones. Raising three kids under the age of 5 is no joke! Our kids are amazing, but this is an area we can always use prayer in, and sleep! More rest would be awesome, so feel free to pray that our youngest would start sleeping through the night 🙂

  1. Continued financial support. We praise God that He has been radically faithful to us in this area, but we do still have a bit of a way to go.

3. That the fruit of Joel’s work with SGWM would begin to show. His goal and heart is to get people behind what SGWM is doing through prayer and support, so pray that the articles he writes and content he puts together (like the monthly newsletter) would reach a wide audience and get people inspired for the Gospel and our missionaries.

4. Our upcoming SGWM Banquet Dinner in May. We are really excited about it! We want people to come, get inspired for the Gospel, and for the Lord to use this event to bring the needed financial resources to SGWM’s home office so we can lengthen our reach to the nations in a greater way than ever before.

Thank you all again for your prayers!

In Christ,

-One Year Anniversary
This month is the one year mark since Chris began pastoring Palabra Viva. We’re so grateful for all we’ve seen God do in the church and in our lives personally up to this point and look forward to see what the Lord will continue to do this new year!

-A Visit From Our Home Church
In January we had an amazing group of servants come from our home church, Mission Calvary! The week was full of fruitful events; handing out backpacks and school supplies to underprivileged kids in a more poor community nearby, a community park outreach, baptisms, fellowship, and much more! and We saw many people ministered to young and old and continue to see the fruit of this teams labor and love!

-Gratitude For Fellow Servants
We thank you, our friends and family, for keeping the church and team of leaders in your prayers. We praise God for the servants He has surrounded us within the church who we are blessed to serve alongside.

Please Pray:
1. Home Fellowships
This month we are initiating home fellowships. These weekly gatherings will have a multi-focus of discipleship, fellowship, and evangelism. We’re excited to see what God will do with these groups and ask you to be keeping this in prayer.

2. Residency Papers
In the beginning of this month, we submitted our residency papers and are now waiting for a response. Please be keeping this in your prayers.

3. Women’s Bible Study
In January we started on our women’s Bible study. We are going through book 1 of the Navigators series, Growing Strong. Honestly, this has been a very refreshing time of study and fellowship. Please be praying that the women would experience spiritual growth and a deeper love for God throughout our time together.

4. School Of Ministry
Last week was the start-up of a new semester for the school of ministry. It’s exciting to see God use this in the equipping of pastors and leaders from all around our region. Please keep this current semester and the students in your prayers as we study the book of Romans together.

Deanna Carver – California, USA

Please Pray:
1. Please pray for wisdom as I meet with a few of our women missionaries every week, to help train and prepare them for the mission field. Pray that this time be a huge encouragement and blessing for them and that I am empowered by the Holy Spirit in all that I do and say.

2. Pray for my health, as it is a constant struggle.  Since the beginning of the year, there has been one thing building on top of another with little relief.  I go to see a new Doctor at the end of this month, and I am praying that she will really work with me and help me.

3. Please pray for provision and financial support as I have lost some support in recent months and my overall support is very low.

Thank you for your faithful prayer and encouragement.

In Him,
Deanna  ~ Email: carver@sgwm.com Blog: http://sgwm.com/carver

Mike and Erin Thiemann – California, USA

Please Pray:
1. SGWM Promotions. Joel Garcia and I are strategizing ways to help raise much-needed support for SGWM. Please pray for us as we seek to promote SGWM to raise funds so that we, in turn, can better support our missionaries. Also, please be in prayer for our upcoming missions banquet dinner on May 5th.

2. We are developing a print newsletter for SGWM. The main obstacle here is the price tag as printing costs are astronomical. Please keep this in prayer as we need wisdom, graphic design talent, writers, editors, and finances.

3. Please pray as I am developing travel plans for this yer. There are two major trips that I need to take. One to South Asia and the other to Uganda. Please pray that the Lord would bring in the required funding.

4. Please pray for wisdom and vision for Erin as she homeschools our three kids.

5. Please pray for Erin’s photography business. It is steadily growing. Pray for more clients and that the Lord would use her not just to bring in extra income but as a ministry opportunity.

6. Please pray for our financial support. The cost of living in the states and being on missionary support is challenging. We know that God is radically using the SGWM home office to bless and advance the ministries of our missionaries and of SGWM’s ministry to the unreached, so we covet your prayers and thank you for your financial support.

Jenna Pepin – Culiacán, Mexico

Thanks to all who prayed for Sammy and I this month.  His health is definitely improving, and mine has been stable.  Please pray with us this month for the following:

Please Pray:
1.  The restructuring of the missions ministry I coordinate.  It appears that God is redirecting me (toward something awesome!), but there are still lots of details to be worked out.

2. Our ministries in La Invasión and Ampliación Bicentenario.  Pray that God supplies the needs for both ministries and continues to do a mighty work in both communities.

3. All of our Easter week events, including family camp and several other evangelical outreaches.

4. Upcoming mission trips.  In March, April, and May, our church will be receiving missionaries.  Please pray that God will bless all of these groups, and we will be able to take full advantage of them to greatly impact our city.

5. Finances and paperwork.  Pray that God would raise up donors to help meet our current financial need and that God would lead me to the right people in the U.S. Consulate as we try to renew and apply for several important documents.

6. Sammy’s and my health.  I see 2 new specialists on the 1st and 12th of this month.  Pray for continued healing and wisdom for treatment decisions for both of us.

Thank you for your prayers!

God bless you!

2. For our little church that is set in a drug infested colonia in the hills in Tijuana, that Jesus would break the chains of bondage, and set the people free–that they would come to the feet of Jesus and to our church!

ASIA

The B. Family – S. Asia

Please Pray:
1. Please pray for favor with government officials as we are late in renewing mom and sons visas. We were going to apply for residency permits but didn’t have the money or the time to apply. Instead we cut too close to the expiration date and are struggling just to renew, which could come with great penalties if not shown grace by our new location’s officials.

2. Please continue to keep my husbands Green Card process and financial provision in prayer. The timeline is up to us as we just need to start submitting documents, but have had difficulty with this process as we’ve been relocated this month, had computer malfunction issues and have had no internet connection for the computer.

3. This month mom and son will be moving to the main city to be near the birthing center.  We have rented a flat and mom will start learning to drive the crazy city streets in order to get to appointments and run errands.  Dad will be living 10 hours away continuing to oversee work on the compound and the start of the school this month. Please pray for safety for mom and baby living without dad, for dad as he travels to visit us, and for our marriage and family life as we’re living apart the next 2 months.

4. We are continuing the process of raising funds to build a home inside our compound. We trust that the Lord will provide in His time and through those He desires to use. It was suggested to us to broaden our efforts in making known our need, but we are unsure about how to go about that practically. Please pray for wisdom in taking practical steps for fundraising, and also for the Lord’s timing, and for our family to be aligned in the Lords will for all these things.  Looking to the future brings fear at the thought of having a toddler and newborn and not having a place to set up home or having daddy travelling back and forth from the compound to wherever we are able to stay. But we know the Lord loves us and has never failed to provide for us or protect us in uncertain times. So we ask in faith and believe with boldness that -with the Lord- no lack of finances or time frame for building will separate us from his Love and care! Please pray with us in these things.

5. Lastly, and one of our most difficult emotional struggles, is that my 11 year old niece has been diagnosed with an incurable cancer. Please pray for her strength to endure treatments as they battle this cancer to give her as normal life as possible. Pray for our family as their whole lives have been put on hold and turned upside down by this sudden and unexpected news. Please pray also for me as I am on the other side of the world and desire nothing more than to be there and help, but circumstances make it impossible. Praise God for His comfort and peace and holding our family in His loving hands. Though our family may walk through the Valley of the Shadow of Death, we will fear no evil for He is with us!

Thank you for interceding on behalf of our family! May the Lord be magnified through every season!

Love and Blessings,
B.  Family

J.E. – South Asia

Please Pray:
1. For a new building or plot of land to relocate and expand our fellowship hall. Our congregation is growing, and we need more room. (We meet in a small enclosed rooftop as a house fellowship.)

2. For an additional ministry vehicle for our team. We currently have only one motorcycle and we live in a very big city.

3. For Pastor J.E.’s team members to mature and grow, and also for additional full-time helpers to help serve alongside him in teaching and outreaches. (Ask God to send missionaries and teams to lend their gifts or raise up mature believers here to assist.)

4. Continue to ask the Lord to grow the current believers in this fellowship, especially in their understanding and application of God’s Word.

5. For more Bibles in English and our native dialect.

6. For a new sound system: we have our instruments and a few microphones but we are missing a soundboard/mixer.

7. To raise funds for our ministry locally from the people in our own country.

8. In May, we have our 3rd church anniversary and we would love to plan and budget for a worship event that would bless our congregation and welcome in more people who need to hear about Jesus.

February 2018 Prayer Requests

The Buescher Family – Cajamarca, Peru

Prayer Requests:
1. Please pray for our family this month as Jessica and Eva will be traveling internationally. They will be accompanying the students to Israel for their first class of the semester. Pray also for Romeo as he cares for the other kids during these three weeks.

2. Join us in prayer over the start of the upcoming semester. That the students would be returning refreshed and ready to begin. That there would be unity on campus with all the past and newly incoming students. As well as unity for the staff who will all be slightly adjusting roles as we change directors on campus.

3. Pray for Romeo as he prepares for teaching, which will begin in just a few short weeks.

4. Please also pray for the last few months of Jessica’s pregnancy to go smoothly and that there would be no complications with the delivery. Also please pray that this baby would carry to term to allow for a safe home birth as planned.

We’re so thankful for those who take time to stop and pray over these things. It’s so nice to see the support system we have in the body of Christ. So, thank you! Your time is a huge blessing and we’re so thankful for each of you.

God Bless you,

Joel and Amy Garcia – California, USA

Prayer Requests:
1. Please pray for fruitfulness in some of the things Joel is working on for SGWM, specifically the SGWM Newsletter, that it would fulfill its purpose of inspiring people to get involved in the Great Commission as senders or goers.

2. Pray for wisdom and vision as we redirect our focus with the Young Adults ministry we lead. Our focus is on discipleship and leading these young adults beyond surface-level things into what a deep, lasting walk with Christ looks like

3. Please pray for our family, as we navigate raising a 4-year-old, a 2-year-old, and an 8-month-old to follow Jesus.

4. Please pray for our financial support. This is a totally new venture for us and not easy, and each quarter of my first year working with SGWM is a bit of a benchmark to assess whether we can continue in this realm of ministry as we seek financial supporters. So please pray that the Lord would provide not just supporters for us, but those who would partner with us in the gospel by means of finances so that we can continue this ministry in the long run.

Thank you so much for faithfully partnering with us in prayer!

Pastor Marc and Linda McSweeny – Frankfurt, Germany

Prayer Requests:

Pastor Mike and Erin Thiemann – California, USA

-The home office staff and volunteers is growing, and they are excited to move Saving Grace World Missions into the future. We have a lot of things planned for 2018 that we could use prayer for. Here are just a few:

Prayer Requests:
1. The monthly e-newsletter. Joel Garcia has taken this task and brought my vision to fruition. A lot of you might have received the new SGWM e-newsletter in your inbox. This is a “one-stop-shop” for all things SGWM. In one e-mail, we will quickly communicate to you all that SGWM and our missionaries have been doing and give you instant access to dozens of news articles from our missionaries. If you are not on the mailing list, please go to sgwm.com and click on the newsletter banner.

2. In the same context as the e-newsletter, our next hurdle will be to develop a print newsletter. The main obstacle here is the price tag. Getting things printed is really expensive. We are researching various options and hopefully within the next few months will be able to develop a system that works. Please keep this in prayer as we need wisdom, graphic design talent, writers, editors, and finances.

3. We have designed a 64-page prayer book that represents all of our missionaries and our ministries. However, the price tag on this project shot through the roof. First, please pray that the Lord would provide the finances. Second, as we are researching how to publish an e-book on various platforms like Amazon so that we can provide an electronic version.

4. We will be launching a SGWM fundraising campaign shortly. It is our prayer that the Lord would bring in the needed financial resources so that we can provide better service for our missionaries and reach farther into the unreached places of the world.

5. The book that I am writing for missionaries is well underway. Please pray for vision and direction as I write each chapter. Also, please pray for time. I am flooded with so many great ministry tasks that I am having a hard time carving out the necessary blocks of time needed to write. Another prayer request at this point would be that the Lord would bring qualified and willing volunteers to assist me in the ministry.

6. Please pray for wisdom and vision for Erin as she homeschools our three kids every day. Also, pray for our kids that they would fall in love with learning.

7. Please pray for Erin’s photography business as it is steadily growing. Pray for more clients and that the Lord would use her not just to bring in extra income but as a ministry opportunity.

8. Lastly, please pray for our financial support. Serving as full-time missionaries in the U.S. is challenging. Our cost of living is triple, if not more, than that of overseas missionaries. We know that God is radically using the SGWM home office to bless and advance the ministries of our missionaries and of SGWM’s ministry to the unreached, so we covet your prayers and thank you for your financial support.

Thank you and God Bless,
Mike, Erin, Malachi, Kyla and Alaina – Email: erinthiemann@sgwm.com mike@sgwm.com Blog: http://sgwm.com/thiemann/

Jenna Pepin – Culiacán, Mexico

-Thanks to all who prayed for Sammy and I during our visit to Ohio. It was a fruitful time of fellowship with friends and family and resulted in two new monthly donors. Please pray with us this month for the following:

Prayer Requests:
1. The restructuring of the missions ministry I coordinate. God has given me huge dreams, but we are lacking the personnel to carry them out. Pray that God either redirects me or provides the help I need to increase our ministry here.

2. Our ministries in La Invasión and Ampliación Bicentenario. Both of these ministries are bursting at the seams with need for personnel and resources. Pray that God supplies those needs and continues to do a mighty work in both communities.

3. Upcoming mission trips. In March, April, and May, our church will be receiving missionaries. Please pray that God will bless all of these groups, and we will be able to take full advantage of them to greatly impact our city.

4. My finances. At this point, I am still about $300/month short of what I ought to have coming in. Pray that God would raise up donors to help meet this need and further the ministry.

5. Sammy’s and my health. After Sammy’s recent bout with Typhoid Fever, we are still working to rebuild his immune system, so he will quit catching every infection he comes in contact with, and I was recently diagnosed with asthma-related lung damage. I see a pulmonary specialist next month. Pray for healing and wisdom for treatment decisions for both of us.

God bless you!

3. Please pray for my mother’s health; she is not doing well.

Leo and Pilar Gray – Ensenada Mexico

Prayer Requests:
1. Pray for my Dad he’s been diagnosed with Cancer and that our visit with him will go well. Also for our family….

-Thanks for your prayers for my Dad. He has been a Pastor since graduating from Bible College. Most of his ministry has been serving as Director of the Rescue Mission in Pensacola. He’s 89 and was still volunteering at a homeless shelter for women until his recent illness. What a joy to know he loves the Lord and has been a faithful servant for many years. He’s helped countless numbers of homeless and needy people and still loves sharing the gospel and teaching the Bible. He’s known for helping literally hundreds of Thrift Stores all over the US. When he retired he became a consultant for Rescue Missions and other Christian organizations. At a recent Conference I attended several people mentioned that his help with their stores. They have been able to provide literally millions of dollars to their ministries, free clothing furniture and other items to those in need, and share the gospel with so many people…He says he knows it is all in the Lords hands and he just wants to do His will and if He chooses to heal him Dad will give him the glory for it and if not he gets to be with Him in heaven.

1. Please pray for Hiskids to help more kids. Everyday we are encountering more and more children that are hopeless, helpless and hurting. We were able to raise $5000 in December to fund our school in Haiti for 2018, but we are only 50% funded for our current program of helping 150 widows and orphans.

2. Also, pray for Jenny whose face was deformed at birth. We are trying to get her surgery in Haiti in the next few months.

We are also praising God for saving many children from starvation and over 30 people who made decisions to follow Christ in the last 2 months.

Mitch and Christine Sorensen – Nice, France

-To begin with I want to share about a health issue I have that started Dec. 31. I woke up with severe head pain on my left side. That lasted about 5 days. The pain subsided a bit and on Jan 8 I woke up and had which initially looked like a stroke but was later diagnosed as Bell’s palsy. The left side of my face is drooping but full recovery is expected. During the examination process, I found that I have hypertension and diabetes, all treatable with some meds, diet, and exercise. I expect to be back to normal in the near future but need patience as I’m quite inactive at the moment.

Prayer Requests:
1. Christine and my health so we can get back on the street doing evangelism.

2. For revival in the churches in Nice and France.

3. For believers in the church to receive the call to spread the Gospel.

4. For me to continue to learn french on the spiritual level so I can communicate the Gospel well.

5. That our lives and our marriage will be a witness.

God bless you as you serve Him.

Love in Jesus

R Family – North Africa

Our family in a closed country in North Africa is actively looking for divine appointments in which they can naturally share the gospel. Due to the nature of where they are, they cannot openly share the word. Consequently, they have become very adept at leading conversations with interested non-believers in which they are naturally able to share simply by answering the questions of the non-believers.

Nonetheless, having served on the mission field elsewhere where they were not only able to openly share but also able to actually train new believers, they sometimes struggle now with the slow-going nature of their current ministry. At these times, God has reminded them of their usefulness where they are and the importance of baby steps. We should pray that they not become discouraged in this process and that God gives them even more encounters to share Him and bring Him glory.

There are exciting opportunities on the horizon that you can join us in pray for:

  • A fellow missionary from a different country who lives in a neighboring city led 15-20 locals to the Lord and has asked for help in discipling and teaching them in their language.
  • The fellow missionaries from other organizations in their city have asked the head of our family to fill in as teacher when needed in their twice-monthly Sunday meetings.
  • Yet another missionary, also from another country, who led a local to the Lord, is delighted to share discipleship and language-learning opportunities with the head of our family. This in itself is a sign of waiting on the Lord, since the first opportunity mentioned above has been delayed. This new relationship has enabled a unique chance to practice language and discuss bible passages on a one-on-one basis with someone who speaks no English.
  • Ongoing relationships with local believers who enjoy discussing theology have also afforded opportunities to learn language and share the gospel. Some may be on the verge of coming to faith in Christ.
  • For the wife in our family, an opportunity to teach English to locals has also arisen. She is praying if she should take on this task, since she is already very busy with home schooling and sharing the gospel, as the Lord leads, with house help and a mother of one of her son’s friends.
  • The boys in our family have also been able to share the reasons why they believe what they do with their new local friends.

On the business front, they are weighing options to proceed with activities they could operate there and take with them when and if they move. They recognize that the business they started was the main reason they were able to get a long-term visa.

Thank you for faithfully praying for us

God bless you,
The R. Family

The B. Family – S. Asia

Greetings to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Ministry Prayers
1. Please pray for the Lord’s provision of a home for our family on the compound. Two staff houses are almost complete and we are in need of two more for our family and our parents. Dad is currently separated from mom and baby (and baby on the way) for an unknown amount of time partially due to not having a house on the compound to live in.

2. Please pray for the completion of the remaining work on our compound. We had to push classes back a month as the hostel and classes aren’t finished yet.

3. Please keep our students in prayer as they arrive the end of this month and adjust to a new culture, environment and routine.

4. Please keep our staff in prayer that we all remain flexible and moveable during this transition period and waiting for the completion and opening of our school.

Family Prayers
5. Please pray for our family’s health and safety.

6. My husband has a lot of travelling across the state for both family and ministry related work this month.

7. We start the 3rd trimester of pregnancy mid-February; please keep baby’s health and development in prayer.

8. Our son is climbing on everything and being all boy. In January he fell down several concrete steps of our stairway for the first time. Please keep his growth and safety in prayer.

9. My wife’s 11 year old niece was diagnosed with incurable cancer in January. Please pray for the Lord’s miraculous healing and His guidance in her treatment plan. Pray for comfort for the family and also for my wife as she struggles being so far away.

10. My younger brother fell off our roof the end of January but we praise God there was no serious damage, only stitches and bruises. It seems the enemy is really focused on our family right now but we praise God for keeping us all in the Shadow of His Wings!

Thank you for standing in the gap for our family and the ministry.

Blessings,
The B. Family

Urgent Prayer Request For 3 Year Old, Ian Aniku

Please pray for our 3-year-old son Ian, to make a full recovery from this mysterious illness that had him hospitalized for a week and unable to walk.  Pray for his physical therapy, that he will get full mobility back in his left leg. That this was just an infection deep in the muscle that they couldn’t find in blood or the fluid drained from his knee.  That this is not Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis.  Pray for swelling and warmth to go away with these antibiotics.  Please pray that the Dr’s have wisdom. That we may get into the infectious doctors for the re-check before his scheduled appointment of Feb 21st since that is long to be on these antibiotics.

Thank you so much for your prayers!

God bless,
Vincent and Melissa
